  1. CK7 is quite balanced, but is a little bit bright. On my iAudio U3 MP3 player, I tune down the 3kHz region by 1 notch to counter this problem, and in general leave the other EQ settings untouched. Gathered from the reports from people who use the RPHJE70, the RPHJE70 is supposedly a bassy pair of IEMs. Most if not all of us here do not own the CX300, so if you want to be unique, you can get one *hint hint*
  2. EDIT: Nvm With $300, you have several options: All-round performance from cheaper to more expensive: Sony MDR-E888 (Not sure, $75) for a normal earbud. ATH-CK7 (balance, $119), Etymotic ER6i (balance, $170-219), Westone UM1 (a bit of bass and rich mids, $230?), Panasonic RPHJE70 (bass, $165) and Sennheiser CX300 (not sure, $119) for IEMs. AKG K81DJ (bass, $129), Audio Technica ATH-A900 ($259) for headphones. If you want to begin cheap however, I do recommend the Koss KSC75 and the Koss PortaPro They can be had easily for under $100, but they do not do much if not anything to seal external sound.
  3. Where do you live? Since my CK7 should have been completely burnt in and I have a myriad of standard CK7 type sleeves, and I travel aropund quite a bit, I'll be more than happy to let you audition the CK7, though hopefully someone in the forums will buy the CX-300 so we can do a full shootout comparison between the CK7, CX300 and RPHJE70 With regard to the AKG headband, sorry, no idea >.>;
  4. It would be a good buy I guess, at least for my case it was... Just don't get hit by an upgrade bug by wondering how higher budgeted phones sound like. Not much bass from the K26p? Different experience from me I guess o.O IMO, if you found the bass on the K26p to be weak or thin, then the bass on the CK7 might be non-existant altogether. Hmm, the Sennheiser CX-300 seems to be a popular choice amongst people though *hint hint*
  5. The CK7's bass isn't overkill, and I'm no basshead, and I hate overemphasized bass Its tight and well controlled/behaved with quick decay and accurate punch. Quite well textured too, but not up to level with the ER6i though its rather close to it. Bass overkill would have to go to the AKG K26p IF I were to vote from the above, and the e2c is rather bassy as well, reminiscent of the EX71 but MUCH better behaved.
  6. PX200 and K26p are headphones, the PX200 is a closed type (isolates, minimal sound leakage) and, if I remember right, the K26p are open types (doesn't do much to isolate, sound can leak quite a bit). If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. The CK7 iand the e2c is an IEM/canalphone. They isolate external sound a lot, sometimes up to dangerous levels especially when you're on the road. Personally, I've yet to hear the PX200s, the K26p is quite heavy on bass, sounding rather dark and the e2c is also bassy and grainy on female vocals without much treble energy to speak of. The ATH-CK7 is 'balanced' when compared to the K26p and the e2c. I personally prefer the CK7 over the e2c. Only tried the grey soft flex sleeves on the e2 however, so no comments on the other sleeves. Isolation wise, in general, foam tips give the best isolation. Alternatives to the PX200 and the K26p would be the Koss PortaPro and the PX100. Alternatives to the ATH-CK7 would be the Panasonic RP-HJE70, Sennheiser CX300, Ultimate Ear's Universal Fit canalphone series (depending on the tip used) Alternatives to the Shure e2 would be earphones higher up the Shure family (e3, e4, e5, the upcoming e500), Westone UM1/2, Etymotic ER series.
  7. ^ I can probably help you purchase first, and since I do travel a lot here and there, I can probably pass them to you and quite fast at that. HN and BD don't carry the replacements buds as much as I remember. PM me for any help you may need, can always drop by Stereo Electronics easily
  8. Master Bug: Yep, better treble response, but the change isn't as drastic as the KSC75's one. I think its because of the way the phones are placed. They hug on quite tightly to my head. The hole cut helps to alleviate the veil a little, but I still would describe the SportaPro's sound signature as one that's more appropriate for gaming, lotsa bass. Hmm, I wouldn't say its treble is rolled off though, they reach the high trebles rather well, with things around the 15-16kHz range still sounding existant.
  9. Same impressions with the UM2 here after trying them out several times on 3 occasions. I find them lacking in detail, and their high-bass and low-mids overpowering. They seem rather dark to me, and amplification through a CMOY didn't benefit them either due to their sensitivity. In the end, it was a toss up to go with either the CK7 or ER6i, and I chose the CK7 instead.
  10. Whew, dunno what happened yesterday, but my browser told me something wrong with SGHP's database, so I cannot access to put pics in. Anyways, here's the stuffs, pardon my bad photography; I like the re-wiring done here, very solid and tough. Perfect for home use other than some microphonic effect. But then again, I'm using it on the laptop, so no problems there
  11. Yep, white re-cabling. I don't really recognize a sonic signature difference after the re-cable, but rather, things did seem louder. 4 volume notches down my iAudio U3 to achieve same volume, was quite shocked, but I did not rule out the possibility of placebo. Must compare to a SportaPro that has yet to be re-cabled. Hmm, the amount of bass for the SportaPro does make it a decent gaming headphone, lots of boom, so explosions sound good. Mainly going to pair this up on my laptop and my PS2 ADD: Will try to post a pic by tomorrow afternoon.
  12. OMG! Master Bug? Where you get all those KSC75 side clips? o.O Burnt in the Sporta Pros over at Squalle's place last night, its still quite warm sounding. Maybe I've been spoiled by the ATH-CK7 a lot, or maybe its incomplete burn in issues, but as compared to the CK7, the SportaPros sound rather sloppy in comparison (not as crisp). The highs seem a bit veiled, even when I cut a hole in the middle of the thick foam (helped out a bit).
  13. ^ *idea!* Gahman! Go buy! Then during one of the meetups the members here can arrange, we all can do a full shootout between the RP-HJE70, ATH-CK7 and CX300
  14. ^ If anyone else we know has bought the CX300, then it wouldn't be a problem I guess. At the same time, owners of the HJE70 and CK7 can bring along their units for testing at the same time

    Burn in

In simple laymen terms, it means 'seasoning' your headphone/earphone.
  16. Problem lies in with the pricing of the Bose. For that same price, there's a lot of headphones out there without ANC that you can get over the QC2. IEMs would be a better choice in blocking out ambient noise as compared to ANC, and for that price, the UM2, SuperFi 5Pro, Etymotic ER4 and Shure e4 are readily available. With proper tips, these can cancel out as much as 3 times the amount of noise the Bose QC2 can (36-45dB of noise blockage for the IEMs) and you have batter quality sound, detail and sepaation than the Bose as well. EDIT: Spell check
  17. Anyone willing to play the role of the sacrificial lamb?
  18. I think it may have something to do with the lentgh and size of the tube? I've reverted back to using the single flanges on the CK7, now the treble isn't as held back anymore, but man, quite a bit of isolation lost to pursue better SQ o.O
  19. Happy birthday and may you both have many happy returns! n.n
  20. Last I remember, iriver's players are Windows only, but I'm not sure. Any iRiver users can confirm this?
  21. Avoid the Bose QC2, according to head-fi, it sucks. For its pricing, mid-bass or in general bass bloat and lack of any clarity whatsoever. BOSE = Buy Other Stereo Equipment?
  22. ^HDD version or flash version of the H10? 2nd hand HDD stuffs do smell fishy... more often than not that is.
  23. ^^^ Be warned when putting the CK7 together with the iPod Mini from the headphone out: Little to no bass starting from the 200Hz region and below (severe bass rolloff)
  24. Nope, its Y-cord. EP635 is white and necklace though
  25. ^ Sharp MD33 is the same as the EP630/635. The EP630/635 is a clone of the MD33. From what I can tell, if you like bass, go for the EP630/635, if you like clarity, go for the LMX-E630. I like both, and if I were to choose, I'll save up and buy both
