  13. Actually, the HP460 has had very good reviews from head-fi, comparable to K81DJ... if the Nokia headphone *is* a rebadged HP460, it might well be a pretty good pair of cans
  14. Philips HP460 notice any similarities?

    AKG K81DJ

It's especially useful in my office
  16. After living with my K81DJs for a week, i've come to learn a way to wear them more comfortably. I now wear the headband slightly *behind* the apex of my head so that it doesn't press down on the top. It's less secure, but I'm not about to go jogging with my K81DJs... hope this helps...

    AKG K81DJ

A simple comparison between AKG K81DJ and Koss KSC75. Source: Since I'm using them for music on the go, the source is my shuffle, the music is AAC 128kbps or 192kbps. Music: A range - classical, piano, acoustic, rock, pop, cuban jazz, ballad. Just for the heck of it, i added a Sennheiser MX500 to the 'test' as well... K81DJ The first thing anyone notices about this is the Bass Boom. The bass is deep, impactful and well, kinda boomy. On bass-heavy music, it can sound unbalanced. It works surprisingly well for classical music though, providing a nice base for the music to build on. However, the bass is counter-balanced by treble clarity. Details are present and discernable, leading to that 'Hey, I've not heard this part before' feeling on some tracks. Sound stage is decent and it really doesn't have that closed-in, boxed-up sound that afflict closed phones sometimes. The K81DJs offers enough isolation for me to enjoy my music, even on a noisy, TV Mobile infested bus. But it doesn't totally cut me off from the world, which is A Good Thing, especially when crossing the road etc Oh, the isolation seems particularly effective in blocking out female voices... KSC75 The KSC75 has lesser bass quantity which lacks the impact, the slam of the AKG. But if you listen to it without refering the the K81, the bass is really quite good, with nice deep extension. Treble clarity is again good and perhaps, slightly better than the AKG. In complex piano passages, I can make out the details better on the KSC75 than the K81. Sometimes, however, the AKGs seem clearer, which makes me wonder if doing the 'quarter mod' might help the KSC75. However, concerns with sibilance on the KSC75 have kept me from modding the foam. On certain tracks, the top notes have a sibilant quality on the KSC75 that makes it kinda jarring and abit hard to listen to. Being an open phone, the KSC75 has a nice open, air sound. It also means that isolation is virtually non-existent and these phones need a quiet environment to sound good. Which makes it useless in public transport, which is why I bought the K81... MX500 In comparison, there is no bass, no highs... but by itself, the bass and highs are actually pretty good for an earbud. The MX500 really shines in mids, making it excellent for vocals. It's also more efficient than the above 2 phones...

  19. Check out the Announcements Forum. Aron (aka Stereo Electronics) has listed the units available for demo. I doubt you'll find a better list anywhere in S'pore
  20. Alternative advice from head-fi: "just bend them out!! Don't listen to all this jive about pushing the pads together as you push them toward each other...all that will end with is slightly bent out cans...or broken K81DJ's. Have you just tried bending them apart (since your concern is purely ears, and not the top of your head). Try bending them (pulling them apart), till the clamp is soft, then you can articulate them to a more comfy position. This is what I did. They are super comfy....well compared to how they felt originally."
  21. Advice from Head-fi: "When you first get these, you might want to let off a certain amount of this clamping pressure, as it can feel a tad headache-inducing. But please: DON’T DO THIS BY FLEXING THE CENTRE OF THE HEADBAND DOWNWARDS!!!! This will actually INCREASE the pressure! Instead, push the ear cushions together and, holding them this way between the ‘heels’ of your hands, use your fingers to squeeze the arms of the headband together. Do this gently, and keep adjusting till they feel right. Do it too much and you’ll put a permanent bend in the visible steel band on top, so please be careful!" my experience: I'm still trying to get it to fit comfortably...

    Koss KSC 75

Got mine for $46 from Hung Bros back in March... (got a 2nd pair during the first MO from Amazon for $23...) It'll get a little hot but air can move around the foams so it shouldn't get too hot. Might well be suitable for workout, but i've never used them for that purpose. You can adjust the clip to get a tighter fit so that it won't drop off when you jog. Mine normally sit flush with my ears and they don't drop off unless the cord gets caught in something (which happens fairly often... me clumsy) I don't wear specs so... can't help you out there...
  23. Two parts i don't get... 1) Is Modern Talking a very ah beng music group? 2) Beckham has an affair in Singapore?

    AKG K81DJ

Got me K81s at last from SE yesterday. In case anyone is as yet unaware, Aron is a swell guy... really Pulled out the central foams almost immediately. The improvement to trebles is quite striking. Also regarding comfort, the K81s sit tight on the head, but as the cup swivels, it's possible to adjust it for more comfort. And yeah, the cord is too long, but it's nothing a little smartwrap can't solve. Will be using this for my daily commute. So far, isolation is pretty decent. I'll do a comparison between my K81 and KSC75 if anyone is interested...
