  1. Why did AKG discontinue the K1000 since it was so popular, just as it is now? I believe that it creates the "exculsivity" so that the headphone is THE item to get. The K1000s have become so popular after discountinuation, and so has other limited edition stuff, like the HF-1. The HE90 was probably a one-off experiment for Sennheiser to test the extreme high-end electrostats market.
  2. I believe the price rose a lot after it stopped production. I think don't the cost of the materials though, as for all audio products, should be really high, at most 1-2K.
  3. Most headphones can be found here, I believe (except really limited stuff like the HF-1, HE90, Stax O2, even customs require a longer waiting time). Amps, however, would be rarer. Most higher end ones, including both Xin and Ray Samuels will have to be bought online. Overall though, I'd say that we have quite a good supply, especially for a country outside Europe and is neither USA nor Japan.
  4. Isn't it supposed to compete with the ER4/ER6? A price close to the ER6 would still be fair. $200? High end $100+?
  5. ^ It's rude, and you can't really enjoy the music... Lose-lose situation...

    AKG 501

Haha, this is another potential choice in my headphone hunt. Don't take the last set...

    WESTONE UM1

Both Jaben and Stereo do. You may want to wait for the im716s though, it looks rather appealing, and should be out soon.
  8. ...that it has more efficient production lines? Seriously though, we should definitely wait for more reviews, or better still, try them ourselves.
  9. Sigh, just heard of the news. Great design though, wondering if there is optical in... .
  10. ^ I can't help but imagine sticking bananas into your ears...
  11. 100 bucks, as in USD. That's around SGD150+...

http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=5864&st=15 Espcially this by theory_87 http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?s=&s...indpost&p=79075 I'm sure there are other 3rd party software, but can't remember any off hand now.
  13. Oops... That's bad, real bad. Cracked, as in? Blew off? Exploded? Great thing that you had an exchange. Well, here's my source (about amping: http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?s=&s...indpost&p=68817
  14. ^ Joking though. Couldn't find a better occasion to use that emoticon.
  15. Shirt clips are great at reducing microphonics. You have to admit though, that the Aurvanae (plural?) are the most comfortable IEMs you'll try in a long while , in my opinion, more comfortable than the UM1s. An amp is said to be able to improve these IEMs by quite a bit, to match the big boys (super fi. 3, ER6i, CK7, UM1) in terms of sound.
  16. Haha... Jaben (the teddy bear shop ) and Stereo are gaining international recognition (remember nabwong's headfi thread on the audio technicas?) Oops. Off topic.
  17. Wow. Headfi thread. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=200672
  18. ^ Unlike me, with someone in my class who claims all the geek cred due to his intense love for fruits. Haha, when I said that I wanted to upgrade from my UM1 (which was sadly gone without a trace), he suggested Apple-In ears. Well Well Well... And when I suggest EP630, I am accused of being a crazy Creative fanboy by every one else, because of him not really liking Creative, sigh, look who's talking... EDIT: Shesh, this sounds like a vicious attack. No harm intended to anyone...
  19. I only do SGheadphones and Headfi... I believe that most would recommend the Foobar too, much more customizable. I'm sure there is an adjustable eq. somewhere.
  20. Was wondering how long Uncle Wilson would be able to keep them there for auditioning. Can't go down for the next few weeks because of tests, but am really looking forward to trying something as high-end as the Orpheus... Sigh. I do hope it'll be at least for a month. That way, there's still a little chance.
  21. Well, SACD is a secondary feature. Redbook is still the most important to me. I know for the fact that the CE595 does not do digital output for SACDs. Was trying to keep the cost of the CDP low so that I could add a budget DAC on (most likely DAC-AH), and the Sonys seemed to fit the bill. Marantz CD5001? Anyway, how does one audition CDPs? Walk into a shop and ask if they allow you to try?
