  1. the price of branded stuff should not differ that much, unless it is parallel imported set.The rationale is this: if the saving is substantiate enuf to warrant buying a no-warranty set, by all means, go ahead.Just like those forumers who buy from overseas their high-end cans like K701 & HD650, they don't bother anyway unlike electronic stuff, how often does a hdph breaks down??...that's why i m eyeing at HD 650 below $600 at one of the shop:rolleyes: still need to save, sigh
  2. wenjia, dt 990pro as name implies, cater to the pro users like broadcast and studio, much like its sibling-DT 770Pro.If you have to know, 880 is more 'high-end' than 990Pro, but it is so hard to qualify, because taste differs.....best is to check out the headphones and qualify it by your ears. For beyer, visit parklane shop, they might still have HD650 to make comparison.Oh yes, even the new AKG K701--so you can have a battle of the flagship
  3. K701 is available for trial at AA, accordingly to shop keeper, he waited since Christmas, huge pair of cans, very iPod like creamy white finish, comfort is tip-top, price is WOW ex! typical AKG character, not my cuppa of tea though
  4. interested to know how much is the 32ohm version, i own the 250 ohm version
  5. Tks Absolute (vodka luv-er) for advice.Same as we do physical shopping, we do the same when on-line too. From razer's post, i thot the prices outside must be absolutely cheaper than the profit hungry distributors/dealers have to offer in Singapore.Die die must buy on-line one....so given a choice, one must still watch up for a good deal, be it on earth or cyberspace:yeah:
  6. hey guys i m a novice when come to on-line purchase.i prefer local for warranty reason.i check meier and for example, beyer dt880 at us$270 (include freight?can;t find info)at current ex rate 1.64, it costs $442 w/out warranty & got-to-wait.and our forumers are buying at $365 locally.Given a choice howz? unless i went to the wrong site.....?
  7. agree to heady's comments, most dealers do not like to publicise their special price unless it is exclusive to them only, because they are operating in a very competitive environment. They don't want to be seen slashing price in front of their supplier and competitors, and if they choose to do so, must be stealthy, i guess to protect the trade as a whole.True, as consumer, one should explore more outlets to maximise your money.
  8. Good for u stereo, meaning this forum is a useful tool for dealer like you to advertise and market your place of retail and products. I wonder what the other dealers are doing, kuning ?!Maybe should throw a party for your faithful forumers to thank them for their support Your on-line "update" is cute...."15 sets left...
  9. not much, except for the colour-rsx660 is silver, the other is black.usually it is the difference in capsule, but close hearing reveals similar sound, then it is up to individual preference.
  10. Shure e3c, i read there's one for sale at Classified; or for new, try anything audio, their shure iem's cheap comparatively.
  11. Sorry lah bro, was on way back home, so dropped by to steal a peek at DT880.I just got 10 min of demo, so can;t comment much, i can only visit aa again next week, so perhaps some other can put a comment or two?
  12. Finally DT880 is in town Got a SMS from anything audio and went there pronto. First impression, beyer is paying more attention to design. Second, the 'leather' bag is definitely impressive than cold hard aluminium box. It is fresh from the box, but already sound typical Beyer-big! It is sad there is no old vs new, as the owner has sold all its old version. Definitely coming back again to demo within the week.
  13. Why no beyer in the list? I guess beyer fares badly in the design department. I can only think of DT 231 for portability.
  14. Hold your horses, fellow cans lover. I spoke to AA on DT 880 new edition and was told "akan datang"-maybe might lower intro price to below $400 for coming shipment, quote "target b4 CNY"unquote As far as i know, beyer does not have international warranty
  15. Not possible unless Euro shot up within a short period of time, $350 is their RRP, street price is never more than $300. HUng Bro is going at 280-300 range, and i recall seeing one set on display at AA going at 255.
  16. Good observation razer.A good sign for sgheadphone forum, we have a diversed groups of users-AT,beyer, sen, grados, shure, etc-and that's what forum is all about, sharing of info, argue, debate, and ultimately benefiting both members and newbies, and this is how a forum grows. We're no different from other HiFi forums, there is always groups favouring JMLab, Rogers, Harbeth, Dynaudio, KEF, etc, Keep it up!
  17. agreed with tbln! even with 120ohm,it should be easier to drive compared to my 250ohm beyer cans, instead it's the opposite.I have the opportunity to try on the pro-amp at AA for both K501 and other 250ohm beyer, the difference is obvious.Numbers are not everything.
  18. I'm surprised they allow demo on canal-phone. It is very personal item and i wouldn;t dare to put that has been used (not hygienic) in my own ears.
  19. AhDU (u the local singer?) it is not fair to compare HD595 to DT 880, the correct comparison should be HD600.All I can say, $299 is a steal for Beyer's flagship model. There again, it may even be "stolen" by now - sell out .
  20. Last offer at $299..if there's still sets available..saw only one set sitting below the test station, and that's about it
  21. with more people buying stuffs across boundaries, warranty is no more an issue, and regards to headphone, how wrong can it be?I even know of studio guys who buys their electronics from overseas, the saving is good enough
  22. Futura, check with Mackie, he is able to obtain hd650 at a more attractive price than what local dealers offer, pm him and see whether he can get hold of any.
  23. Razer, u own K701? i check headfi and it is around $600+(convert from USD), sounds great from your description, but i ask around, even Asia Sound, still not available in Singapore. Look forward to lay my hands on K701 any one else in Singapore has it??
  24. strange Rogers was bought over by Wo Kee Hong and closed its UK factory, thereby the LS 3/5a, about 8 years ago. LS 3/5a is not produced anymore, even for Harbeth, KEF, Spendor...how then can MBD able to "bring a batch"? unless it is used speakers. I read somewhere Rogers has made another model, that looks similar to LS 3/5a but it is not the original.
  25. Yup! K1000 is already discontinued, sad a clasic design becomes a legend
