  1. I was testing side by side between mx5021 and 6021.I personally prefer 6021 better. Reason being it feels clearer and tighter bass.
  2. Going to be interesting to see this amp, Portaphile Shinto?, and Hornet 'M'
  3. Godly equipment!!! I'm glad you like the sound of your ES2. Probably when my UM2 breaks down, I'll consider ES2. I'm also glad that ES2 is custom. Otherwise I'll experience the same consequence from going from UM1 to UM2. The upgrading bug=( The next upgrade probably be Hornet but will decide next year. I think I spent enough for now. My bank already feels dry and cold.=(
  4. Looks like dual driver to me. Where did the 3rd driver go?
  5. I have the chance to test out a hornet yesterday and had a difference opinion on amp totally. I had a ldm+ and tested go-vibes and xenos before but this hornet had something really different. First of all, Hornet is real quiet. I didn't notice any hiss. The only time is when I turn the knob to the max. Probably it is from my player. The most outstanding difference is the music being played. I don't think I'm able to describe it well but it does feel smooth, soothing to the ear. The "pace"(head-fi term) feels different too. The music is very well-controlled. To a point, it does feel like going into dreamy mood with pure enjoyment. If I ever get an amp, this will be likely be my current favourite choice. The next contenders might be SR71 (didn't spend too much time on it the last time) Hornet "M" PRII Portaphile Xin SMIV Little country (although not portable but sounds interesting)
  6. hey! it's nice meeting you guys too. Take your time to listen to UM2 and slowly decide what kind of music presentation is more suitable for you. Play around with different kind of amps to tweak the overall presentation. There are still E500, ES2, UE 10Pro, ER4 available for upgrades=p
  7. Right now I'm using Shure atteunators with LDM+. Just feel it's a hassle to carry that around. The hiss can be quite irritating for me if the music track goes into silent for a moment. The only amp I know that does not hiss is probably RS Hornet and it's not available locally with a high price tag. Wonder what other options do I have.
  8. I'm wondering what amp is available locally that does not hiss or hiss the least with um2. crossroad xeno go-vibes If I miss out any amps that is available locally, please kindly add it in. Thanks=)
  9. Let me know if you are auditing the hornet. I'm interested in it too but find it hard to justify the cost if the improvement is minimum.
  10. A while back, I was lucky enough to spot and try out YouTiao's SR71 at Jaben with my UM2. I have read in head-fi that SR71 opens up the soundstage and put you further from the stage. It's all true and sad to say, it's not my cup of tea. Last weekend, I bought LDM+ and was testing it out for the past few days. While LDM+ doesn't open the soundstage as much as SR71, it seems to increase the width of the stage by a slight bit. I do appreciate this change as I don't feel like I'm standing on the stage. Certain instrument sound adds more impact. The only two things I didn't like about this amp is the floor noise and bass seems to be more bloomy. I'll love to try out Hornet and see if it feels my taste. Anyone?
  11. What tips are you using with your UM2? I'm curious how much difference will there be between UM2+UM56 and ES2.
  12. biased towards the boss??? what does that mean? Dunno leh. My chinese ain't that good so I could be wrong. If you can read well, you can visit www.erji.net .
  13. 2gig is selling for RMB 1099. Which is about $220. I think the 4gig is 1500. Played around with it in China, feels quite solid but read in some chinese forums, they seems to be quite biased toward the boss.
  14. Where would be a good place to do the impression other than Jaben?
  15. Is there a way to calculate the earphone output db? I'm trying to calculate the output(db) out from my earphone. My earphone sensitive is 119db/mW with 27ohm impedence and my player can output 30mw + 30mw at 16ohm. What is the formula?
