  1. hehe i used to get $15 per week when i was in JC...and that was not so long ago too, just 5 years ago. so you guys are probably much better off than i was, considering the prices of most goods, with the exception of crude oil, are not 5 times more expensive now. well at least i learnt that the best way to get money is to earn it myself. there are many ways to do that, but i'm not advocating signing on with the army though, heh.
  2. oh stop stop! you're killing me here heh. i've been waiting for my own shipment for 25 days and counting now lol.
  3. my suggestion is to dump that eMac and hello iMac 24" hehe.
  4. we need more volunteers for the Grammar Police!
  5. drivers? hehe. i suppose even UE will have difficulty in doing that. isn't that a bit like buying a PC and saying you want a red graphics card and a blue sound card? oh wait. there are red graphics cards already. edit: ehh i forgot the translucent black chassis.
  6. for a moment i thought you just ordered the UE10 Pro.
  7. i have them in racks and drawers...and more recently, i've taken to keeping them in those boxes that were used to hold reams of printing paper.
  8. actually, it is precisely the bass, and the mids especially, of the UM2 that i'm so attracted to. which goes to show that everybody has different listening tastes and it's best you drop by Jaben/Stereo to test out the various earphones, or headphones too, if you like. i think we're incredibly fortunate that they are able to provide such a great opportunity for that.
  9. i must admit i've never thought of the problem that way. perhaps i shall have another go, bringing my own CDs and listening through wilson's CD player and amp setup the next time i drop by jaben. i've been doing all my listening on an iPod and a portable amp so far. thanks for the suggestion.
  10. i have a problem with full size headphones...in that they do not seem to be able to reproduce the same roundness/fullness of a sound that the UM2 can. i'm not sure if i'm explaining myself clearly enough though, as up till now, i've only met one other guy who shares the same sentiments as me. i've tried messing with the positioning of the cans on my head, around my ears, but to no avail. granted my experience with headphones go only as far as what wilson has on display in his shop, i'm beginning to doubt if i can ever find a pair that may satisfy me in this aspect. oh wait. i did already. the k1000 did. err but i suppose thats not counted.
  11. refurbished sets come with the full one year warranty, extendable with Applecare too.
  12. yeah i know what you're talking about. i experienced that too. i thought that was the smell of new toys, except that it wasnt very pleasant this time round.
  13. hehe you must have bought it at a really wrong time (and probably place) then. when Senns first released the CX300 it was priced at only USD$40-50. market forces and brand power then took over, i suppose, and the prices fluctuated quite a bit on Amazon.
  14. the CX300 isn't priced at $170. i believe it's selling for $119 at Stereo. it's actually not too bad too, although there are suspicions that they are one and the same as the Creative EP630, which is only $40+ if i'm not mistaken. you may also want to look at the CK7 for earphones in that price backet.
  15. although you gave the impression that you have a penchant for bass, i'd advise against the UE super.fi 5EB. i'm like (lots of) bass too, but seriously, the 5EB extra bass presence on the it takes too much away from the rest of the music. if you can, go down to Jaben at the Adelphi to have a listen for yourself. oh and while you're there, pick up a pair of UM2 heh. i think you will like those. but they havent got replaceable cables like the UE though.
  16. yes so the bottom line is not to sign any new cable/broadband plans in the meantime heh.
  17. you cant. you need 3rd party software for that.

    Westone ES2

lol i have been waiting for these to arrive too hehe. will you please please please take a few pictures of yourself with them on? i havent managed to find any of those online, head-fi or elsewhere...so i'll be extremely grateful for that =) and btw, can i ask if the ES2 has the memory wires?
  20. anyway my original point, if it wasnt clear enough, was that there will always be opposing camps of product supporters: AMD vs Intel, Windows vs OS X, Ipods vs Creative/Iaudio/Iriver, etc and who knows, perhaps even my mum may be engaged in a Darlie vs Colgate discussion with her auntie friends at the market (ok just kidding). i chose to talk abt the laptops only bcos it happened to me most recently. this is simply yet another way that imperfection information exists in the market. people will back, diss, argue over their fav (and rival) products over and over again. have always been like this, and always will be.
  21. i believe that is incorrect. Apple is indeed a hardware company. else they would have simply licensed OS X to other PC sellers such Dell (i mention Dell here bcos Michael Dell had publicly stated his interest in offering OS X on his products), and profit the same way Bill Gates did, and is still doing, if they are a software company.
  22. i hope some of you guys do realise that this "fruity" company you have referred to, is actually Apple Computer, Inc, and that at the end of the day, their main business is still computers. and before anyone is mistaken, i didnt bring this up to justify why the iPod isnt necessary the best portable media player available on the market. i just want to point out that there are many, many people out there, who too, do not know what they have been missing out in OS X. i was selling laptops (with Apple) at a laptop fair recently, and ALOT of these potential laptop buyers say that they think that the Mac is difficult to use...when they have never even tried to use one. now does that sound familiar? saying something is bad although one has no prior experience in using that product. and these laptop buyers are educated people too, tertiary students/staff to be precise. if you believe me, the greatest selling points of a Mac are its stability and (gasp!) its ease of use. i wont go on and try to convince you why OS X is better than Windows. now that will be OT. i'm posting this only bcos i think it's silly to lament/rant abt how other folks are so completely happy with their ipods and stock earbuds.
  23. Well, you naughty boy. You should have done some research!!?! There was this thread about swapping the left headphone cable to the right driver and vice versa, and well, that seemed to improve sound, comfort alot! You're a UM guy, and u like the UM2. Great for you, any UM56s along the way? hehe yes i'm a Westone man. got my UM56 le. still trying to get used to them though. they are nowhere near as comfortable as i thought they would be. but i'll give them some time. and no amount of research can tell you how comfy the phones are mah...until you try for yourself. besides, there were not alot of UE around here then. and surely you must know that reviews on head-fi are usually guilty of hyperbole. there are more than a handful of folks there who will attest to the SF5P comfort level.
