hahah 3m bumpons... I also have the bumps on on my pretty heavy cdp but then i dun think its doing well. I have tried pumice stone and it works very well. What i meant about light casing is due to the distributioon of weight in the case. like the SOHA for example, the front is actually lighter then the area holding the trans.

Thanks petia, i am actually trying to make it heavier so that it is resting well on the feets, my recased items are a little light especially my SOHA. Yes in a way also lower the resonating issue. Rgds

What do u guys use to make the amp or speakers heavier and where can i get them. I have recased my amps but they seems to be a little light due to the larger case use, can someone advice me on what i can use to make them heavier.

i have that cable but terminated with red hospital plugs and shurter iec, how much are the furutech.

i actually have a silver plated power cord, and after trying several belden sort of PC, I am quite sure that what i need is a flexible cable, as u might have seen from my avatar, the number of cables that run underneath my desk are like a maze, and stiffness can really cause some problem. Previously I have also read somewhere that the silver plated cables conduct faster then copper, i have also mod my xiangsheng with SPC as the gnd wire, but as the mods can more and more complicated i sort of forgotten about it and have all my hookups with a belden SPC. Sort of regretting now as I am sure that I like the solidcore cables sound right from the beginning but curiousity just bring me ard to all the unecessary place , but i doubt i will be having another round of mods for the XS. I am abt to get a new power cable and perhaps complete my build for lm3886 which have been lying ard for a while and a mod for my Lite Ah, but not sure if there is anyone with prior experience on it. What would u recommend as a powercord something more flexible but i wanna try out using the silver as gnd. but i will need UK plug termination.

i see, i was rather fascinated with a particular silver plated recently, I am not sure why too as I always find silverpplated a little crapy but this sort of changes my opinion. So fascinated that I went abt buying a bunch of jacks to construct a couple of them to see if the effect was placebo.Do u have any experience with using some silver or plated as power cable...?

As an update, I have managed to get the volume control to work, using a 50k pot, my self made volume pot is allowing me to listen directly to the output from my cdp, which is really sweet. The cased up volume pot, doesnt it looks like the Creative x-fi sound card The wiring The front output

Anyway this is another varient that i have created included a wire pot. 1watt Octopus amp (uncased)

ah ahfartaudio, i did asked before but i thought they were rather expensive and i am not sure about the ultimate results. i will need at least 1.5m x 4, 6m, Maybe 7 taking into consideration of the braiding, which will be close to abt $100, almost the price of a 2nd hand SR80..lol Did u try the cables before?

yes, thats the one, relatively easy to build you can wire in a volume pot instead of the trimmer. I also replaces some of the mylar parts with polyproplyene. Actually i have a question on the mylars and pp caps, what do they affect on the signal path. if say i incease the value what is the expected result(thoeretically and sonically) of it.

its a very small pcb kitset offered by future kits, i sort of replace some parts but the end SQ is still not as good due to a slight hiss, but it makes a pretty nice gift for my frd.

I think its quite good, fairly decent, i remember powercable change bring about a fairly decent amount og improvement. Subsequently tube change would also bring about substantial improvement. These are not considered mods though. Some pictures of my XS8708B which does look not like its original form. The original XS can be seen in my avatar

You cant get it locally i dun think anyone bring them in, i got my Ms2 with it very nice combo.. but then my XS708b is very heavily modded, only the pcb, trans, and a few power caps are stock the rest are all replace, even the power rectifier tube.

My case up 1w amp, much thanks to Fuzzy bucket for he introduce me to the card amp. The case is from my old cmoy, look rather similar to jasonhansik cmoy in the cmoy constrcution thread.

Actually they are still shiny untill i have deicided to remove them.. listen to the modded ms1 at stereo sort of put my works to shame.. Anyway I have done some new recabling and the earcup but still not satisfy with the look and sound. Some updates to my SR80... recabling to both side with a slightly stiffer wire and added some new design to my earcups, but still unhappy....

would it be cheaper if we pool together to purchase this?

i see.. i just found some raw cables with this structure and was wondering if i should try them out. Though if i try them i may be using some cheap neuttrik plugs

disintegration well possibly, but then again how noticeable and whether if its more convenient for you to switch sources. Pros and cons, but i havent notice really prominant disintegration in SQ in my amps.
