  1. Logitech Ultimate Ears 200, at <$50. Really feel that this pair of earphones deserves special mention for its ‘ultimate’ value. Lovers of balanced sound / haters of boomy bass can probably rejoice. Just a brief background. I’m not a hardcore audiophile, my most expensive phones were just the UE SF3 Studio. But ever since the cable was damaged, I fell back on my spare OVC TC20. Now, this OVC’s cable was finally falling apart, so I dragged myself to SE at PS for a replacement cable for my dormant-for-long SF3. Tried on the new cable to test my old drivers, and I couldn’t believe I’d deprived my ears for so long. But just when I was about to make the purchase, it came to mind whether it’d be more worthwhile buying new earphones altogether with about the same budget set for the cable. There had to be realistic expectations when auditioning; I could not expect any new phones at this price point to be as good as my old SF3. But well, they’d gotta be sth similar, at least in sound signature. Otherwise I’d just fall back on getting the replacement SF3 cable. Sadly, the initial several models I tried were all too boomy for me. It might work for some others, but personally I prefer sth balanced and lushy such that I can appreciate the vocals. I was testing with norah jones’ “what am I to you” and “chasing pirates”. I did try the a-jays three for fun though they were well over my intended budget, and yea they were the only thing that came close and I was about to finally settle for the SF3 cable….. ……until I tried the new UE 200... My eyes literally brightened. Finally something that comes close to the SF3! Nothing nonsensically boomy and muddy. Vocals aren’t as lushy as the SF3 but hey these 200 are seriously not too far off. Probably gotta be thankful to Logitech for retaining the UE sound signature? It’s so ironic that they look so plain in the boring Logitech packaging and cost so harmless! Included in the package are an interestingly practical protective hard case and 5 pairs of differently sized sleeves. So just want to give you guys a heads up on this pair of new earphones which is apparently a new model. I’m not too sure exactly when it came out. Whatever it is, don’t give this a miss if you’re shopping for new phones. Finally, thanks to Bobby and another seemingly foreign staff at SE PS for attending to me. Cheers. http://ultimateears.com/en-us/products/200
  2. Would like to give credit to Teng from woodlands SE for his patience in my shopping for replacement earpads. Eventually got the sennheiser HD 414 earpads for my old sennheiser PX 100. Fits fine, and looks nicely oversized . Anyway, thanks for the good service. Forgot to check one thing. Does SE have ultimate ears super.fi 3 replacement cable? My drivers are fine but the cable is damaged. If it is available, how much is SE selling it for? Thanks.
  3. Mint condition grossly underutilised cream/beige coloured RP-HTX7. Full set in box. This stock pic makes it more pinkish than it actually is. As for the black RP-HJE50, only the earphones itself, extension cord, and L-sized sleeves. All for $60. Contact via PM. Thanks.
  4. yea... toe tapping music, brighten-up-the-day music, tear breaking music, all found in this album imo. and despite being blind, the lyrics he makes seem to suggest he sees the world more than we do.
  5. Haha good news that my Samsung's recovered; bad news that no more excuse for new player. Had gut feeling to leave the player on overnight. When I switched it on in the morning (it'd shutted down due to low batt), it was fine again. I wonder why the Reset button can't simulate a power cut like this.
  6. After dropping my 21-mth-old long serving Samsung YH-J50, it can no longer show anything but a blank white screen. Audio output and controls are still good, but I can only navigate like a blind man. I've tried the Reset button but to no avail. Have yet to visit the service centre, but my warranty's over anyway. Any suggestion of any remedy for this pls??? If it's really time for a change, I'll be looking for at least a 4GB flash player at slightly over $200. Decent sound quality is what I'll consider too, hope that it can match my UE SF3 well, without the fuss of a portable amp. Hope can get suggestions from you guys. Currently what I have in mind: 1. iPod Nano 4GB - I swear I'd always been 'anythingbutipod' but the latest nano has really got me attracted, though some find it ugly. What I'm very concerned is that, has Apple improved this nano's sq from the previous generations? DBS has a promotion for the 4GB one at $218, is this considered very cheap already? 2. Creative Zen 4GB - I think I'd almost have immediately pounced on this if the lunchtime promotion at $199 is still on. Back to the usual price now at $249, I think I'll prefer the iPod. Any news if a similar promotion is coming up? And, has Creative brushed up the durability? I had a nightmare of problems with the Zen Micro in the past. 3. Creative Zen V Plus 8GB - Online store has a very attractive deal at $249 for 8GB, but however this seems to be a sunset model already so it's holding me back. How has this been performing so far? I've always been a big fan of Korean MP3 makers like Samsung, iRiver, iAudio, but they're not as mainstream so I've lost touch with the latest models. I think these are better performers, but they're typically more expensive for the same storage. Finally, thanks for any response.
  7. Once you've heard armature there's no way back to dynamic.
  8. I've seen people using IEMs before, but this is the first time I bumped into two within a short period of time. Last Sat noon, I saw a guy (in a peanuts t-shirt) wearing UM1/2 when I boarded the train at Choa Chu Kang towards Jurong East to change train. At Jurong East we boarded the same train carriage, and I saw another guy (in a red buttoned shirt) wearing white SF5EB. So in a single train carriage, there were a SF5EB, UM1/2, and a SF3Studio. I was left pondering over the probability of this while I enjoyed my music.
  9. Thoroughly enjoying this. I think it also pushes the potential of sq.
  10. Congratulations! No wonder the new hairstyle? Haha. Remember to come back post wedding pics of your pretty lady lol. Zhao Sheng Gui Zi!
  11. hi does anyone have any opinion on this old set of speakers? there seems to be limited reviews on it on the web. thanks.
