  1. sometime back i dug out this compilation cd which came with my dad's toyota a few years back. it's entitled Spice Up Your Drive. Spiced up my ears it has indeed. it is a mix of retro and modern tunes, but a common similarity among them is that they are all groovy, catchy and rhythmic. to name a few especially favourite tracks of mine: Earth, Wind and Fire - Boogie Wonderland The Jacksons - Can You Feel It Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music these make up the faster and more retro tracks in the compilation. i don't really like the more modern ones as most of them are techno-remixed to match the album theme. from the looking up of these songs on the net, genre names like Disco, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Pop surface. i hereby would like to ask if anyone has any recommendation of records which are along this line. really can make the listener nod, tap, swing, smile, dance to the music. Thanks! Dance...! Boogie Wonderland...!
  2. $150-$160 is actually the magic price window for good entry-level phones. for headphones, there're the ms-1, a500, ad500, and for iems, sf3 studio, um1. this is just a very small range which i considered before, there're many more options in this price range for you to explore.
  3. see fellow forummer stereo electronics? refer to his signature.
  4. i just got it from stereo today, or ytd since it's past 12. it's tagged at 85. the only other place where i've seen it is harvey norman, which retails at 89.
  5. sold to someone's who enjoying it. have fun.
  6. $80 including post, if not convenient meet-ups.
  7. i think if there was a bet on whether bidding is allowed here, i'd placed my fortunes on "No".

  11. credits to Demonic88 from hardwarezone forums. head-fi a potential rival to cresyn e630 and koss ksc-75 for the budget phones? i smell a brewing MO craze...

  14. what a thread to +1 a poor man's temptation to get a cd player and also kick off an addiction for speakers. wow actually i visited taiwan last week and saw in a couple of the shops the brand Usher. i thought it's just some normal local brand, didn't know it's so reknowned until i hear of it here! btw sorry for a noob question. is nEar pronounced as "n-ear" or "near"? heady you're so lucky to have a woman who shares such a unique passion as yours!
  15. these 2 sets are poles apart. you should try them and see which one you suit. imo, unless you are very much into isolation and strong bass, i'd reckon that you will end up with the ms1.
  16. got it in Sep. pls pm me, thanks.
  17. personally for me, the improvement by amp on iem is perhaps too marginal to justify the expense of portability. maybe i'm not critical enough a listener yet, too noob. that's why i'm back to the ampless-on-the-move days. but for the audiophiles here, amping works for them, so they don't mind the extra weight. well i said in the 1st post that a better option would be to upgrade your phones altogether. for full-sized headphones though, an amplifier can do wonders indeed. since headphones tend to have greater potential, there is more room for improvement.
  18. you should have tried the cresyn on demo at SE to see if the hissing is also present at the same volume. this would have been a clear diagnosis to see if your current set is good. for the hard case, you can improvise by using any hard storage that you can find in your house. things like jewellery case, watch case, etc. places like daiso should have lots of such things. for amps below $100, the popular choices here are pocket amp 2 version 2 (pa2v2) and little dot micro+ (ldm+).
  19. try them for a longer time. somehow or rather, it seems that the tips will conform to your ear canal shape, or vice versa. well you can always use different sizes on both sides, as long as it suits you fine.
