  1. Thanks for the info, ablaze. R-10 sounds interesting so I would have to take a look while I am in Japan.
  2. BTW, what the impedance of your CD3K?
  3. I have yet to see any R10 or read any reviews about them but I do know that they are bloody solid !!!
  4. perhaps the audio technicas, A900, A1000 or W1000. Have to see what I can find first ... ... or perhaps something more exotic ....
  5. A normal spray can wouldn't get you the desired finish. I do a lot of figure-modelling, so I think it would be better using a proper air-brush-cum-compressor and adding glossy lacquer for excellent finish.
  6. My guess would be that these phones would be similarly priced in Japan, will find out when I get there next week.
  7. I would go for Sony D66SL since I've already tried it before. The can's neutral sound, plus the deep, tight bass and detailed, clear highs attracts me to the phone. However, I have to remind you that it is a semi-open can so it might not have the full isolation you need. I don't think you can get uit from any local shop here so I would recommend that you get it from this guy, Minhwa of http://www.bluetin.com/stores/singapore/SG.html. He's sort of a parallel importer, I guess, and a nice guy too and he's able to get the phones within a day. He stays in Singapore and doesn't mind meeting you at City Hall MRT.
  8. Good choice on your purchase - crossing my fingers (Green for good luck), ablaze, it surely would bring you much pleasure ...
  9. Waaa, change again ... don't forget to review your new stuff
  10. Saw it at SLS for $88. Saw earlier reviews that weren't good but they sure look COOL !!!
  11. Sorry to hear about your CD3K, ablaze, hope Sony SG can get it fixed here. If your X-Can is the cause, then that would put me off ... sigh ... Good Luck !!!

and I thought you are supposed to at least let it "run/warm" up for at least half an hour or so. Did the bass fill in as you listened longer?
  13. MBD -> Music By Design at Adelphi
  14. I happen to have this and when I initially use it, it gave a kind of "veiled" performance, like there's some curtain between the music and me. But after half an hour's used, it just suddenly disappear and everything became crystal clear to me. The highs are clear with the detailed mids. However, bass is somewhat lacking. Wonder why it has that veiled performance? Using PCDP -> Supra Cables -> CMoy with Linkwitz-modified crossfeed -> Sony D66SL. In your opinion, what ohmages makes good interconnects, 50 ohms? Is all CD players rated at 50 ohms output impedance?
  15. Has anyone has used the Supra DAC cables as interconnects? Care to comment on the difference it makes?
  16. I heard on head-fi that someone has asked the local MF distributor in Malaysia, I guess, and the distributor replied that it may be in by July. Thread Link
  17. hehe..yeah I'm just one of those people who believe that a good enough CDP will easily rival expensive soundcards
  18. hmmm... are you very much into high-end soundcard? PC-reliance, right?
  19. Saw it for S$682 at www.bluetin.com
  20. Didn't see any listing for Sennheiser cans? BTW, saw Philips 890 at Courts Suntec City selling for S$99 as well.
  21. I am going to Japan in a month's time, probably in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo. Wonder if anyone could tell me where I can shop for headphones and other electronic stuffs at a good price?
  22. I have kept the K501 in a box at one corner of the house while I told her that I bought the 66SL second hand at S$35. It's up to her to believe it.
