  1. I got my SR80 from Stereo Electronics at Causeway Point too and it is a good place to try out your desired headphones before committing to the right one. To cut down your SR60 bass, you can also consider switching to the bowl pad of the SR80 which will also improves the details slightly and tighten the bass. Good luck & thanks Aron for the kind inputs again and one day got to buy him a coffee when i dropby the shop Marcus
  2. Dear Aron Thanks for the detailed demonstration for the mod. I do have a pair of ear pad taken from SIA flight . I wonder whether this mod will dampen the details of the SR80 but will still give it a try. My previous experience in changing the bowl pad to the flat pad is that the bass is bloomy but details is dampened. Interesting to see whether putting the bowl pad over the flat pad will enhance back the details, if so then we already strike gold Nevertheless many thanks for your advices. Will try qunnex cable later...in fact i do have spare qunnex silver anniversary from my previous hifi set up ke ke
  3. Dear Aron, Can you kindly advised wat are the mod option available for SR80 in term of improving the sound stage & bass extension enhancement? Is it better to mod the SR80 or MS-1 to get greater musicality? Your inputs are greatly appreciated. Marc
  4. Better go for the SR60 than the iGrado. PX200 vocal is good but bass lack slam...
  5. Hi afbug Can the k800i be used with another headphone like MylarOne IEM other than the proprietary Sony Ericsson Headset?? i own a K700! & a newer K618i and both does not come with a 35mm headphone jack for use with another headphone.. Is W810i better SQ than the K series since it is a true sony walkman phone??
  6. Well both sennheiser and grado had different sound characteristics and i would use the grado for less serious listening like the MP3 or Radio while retain the HD555 for music coming from the CDP & int Amp. Senn also better suited for jazz & vocal while the grado for rock & pop.
  7. If you are keen can check out headphonehaven.com which is another good forum site for newbies... I totally agreed with warsurfer that MylarOne is indeed a good IEM unbeatable for the current price but with some problems with regards to driver failure unfortunately Good luck in your headphone hunt... Marc
  8. I do agree that the SR80 may sound more aggressive with the shrill highs but it does rip out details well so it is good for instrumental, new age & vocal. However the low slam is not strong so for new orchestrals & slow rock, it may lack excitements. Guess MS-1 may be the way to go...
  9. Ha ha thanks well you are our foreign talent so shb be better off than most of us... Marc
  10. Hi Singapura Wat are you replacing the MS-1 with?? MS-2! Why did you sell it? Marc
  11. Hi Rameish, i agreed the MBD staffs are friendly and i will go back to get the Grado from them if i decide to own one pair myself.
  12. Well sennheiser still not as bad as compared to Grado... Bad customer service too by the oversea agent which dont offer to reply to Email and no intentional warranty. Tat's why i boycott them for the time being until they wake up their ideas Marc
  13. Well i got the MylarOne on eve of lunar new year and it is still burning in. So far only the smallest biflange can fit my ear since the mid size seem to drop out when i try to squeeze it in. Any others had such problem? Is it better to get the foam type? I found the MylarOne quite balanced and will not appeal to those who want bloomy bass. I am still waiting for my Grado!! Cheers Marc
  14. Hi nakedtoes, Do MBD carries Alessando series as well?? I only know that they are the dealer for Grado. For warranty issue do we send the phone to them or is there another agent in Singapore that service Grado phone? I am very disappointed with the Grado Main Agent in US since they are very unprofessional in answering my email without giving proper advise on which agent in Singapore to service Grado phone. Is there only two dealers (Stereo & MBD) in Singapore in Singapore for Grado? Senn is definitely much better when comes to customer service and i had no regrets owning two of their headphone, namely HD485 & HD555. Marc
  15. Hi nakedtoes if MS-1 is suitable for wider range of music, then how about SR60?? I noted that the SR80 is better in the bass but also more bright as compare to SR60. I also noticed that MS-1 is harder to drive than SR60 MARC
  16. Dear Xiao_Catz Appreciate your professional inputs of the various cans but after auditing the Creative EP635 & Senn PMX70 sports, i still prefers Headphone rather than in canal or earpiece. Found the PX100 very loose & lack weight in the mid while the PX200 completely cant make it on the bass extension even though i do like the mid & vocal. ES5 too forward to listen long, so far Grado SR60 sound the best so i wanna hear your comments on this can(sr60) that you owned? I listen mostly jazz, vocal & new age music plus chinese/canton pop as well. Why din you consider the sr80 since most said it's worth the 50 bucks more. Marc

  18. Dear xiao Catz I am impressed with your collection of good headgears mainly Ceative Zen aurvana, Sony MDR-Ex81/51 LP, SR60 & Shure E2C/4C etc Can you comment on the sound different between SR60, Aurvana & Sony EX-81? what kind of music are you into? Thanks Marc
  19. Hi Folks On careful listening again at Hung Bros, i found the ES5 actually dont sound right with regards to the vocal & some instruments. The mid though sweet is very light. Bass is fast & deep but overall music presentation lack depth. K26P sound more real but less airy and exciting. PX100 vs PX200 also reveal very different cans between the two. px100 though gave better bass extension but pace is a bit too slow & also is the most muddy among all headphones i had tested. PX200 high & mid is just right but lack the low bass extension which is highly needed in the jazz & rock music. So my search for a suitable headgear is still on-going... my ideal headgear will be the bass & pace of ES5 together with the mid & high of the PX200, Any audiophile hear came across such goodie in the portable headphone market?? Marc
  20. Dear NIGHTBREED What is missing on your PX100 vs the AKG K26P? It seem to me that the AKG is superior over the PX100 even though most reviewer website rated the px100 favourably? Could it be more marketing plot fr the agent? I am looking for airy & detailed sound with good engaging vocal so which headgear is more suitable? K26P or PX100? Thanks Marc
  21. Hi Zhong How you find the sound of K26P vs the PX100? I am more into new age & vocal? Is the details & separation comparable? Which is more airy? Marc
  22. Dear Head-fiphiles I went down to Hung bros to check out the AKG K81 & K26P. First impression is that the K81 look better but the bass can be overwhelming and cover a bit on the highs. The K26P is less comfortable to wear but the bass is tighter and the highs & mid clearer. When compare with ES5, the K26P sound more real but less airy. tOUGH choice betw the two but i must add that the price of K26P at 69 bucks is quite appealing though. Any comments from those who had compared the two cans(K26P & ES5)? I am into new age & jazz vocals Regards Marc
  23. Hi Folks I went down to Creative outlet at Marina Sq to try out the EP635. Well good mid bass projection but lack low bass extension. Vocal is dry and not as engaging. Happen to try the other earphone EP880 and find sweet highs and expressive vocal but PRAT nt as good. Hard to get something in between though unless spending beyond hundreds. Just my personal opinion though...
  24. Dear ALL Many thanks for all who had responsed to my posting. I am glad i was recommended this forum when i post the same message in the echoloft forum last week. Well i will definitely head down to Stereo to check it out the various options but hope it will not offend the dealer there since auditioning may take some time. I was v glad that courts megamall allowed consumers like us to try out the headpieces at our own pace not like Harvey Norman or Best Denki which just push you to buy with their non-professional recommendations. Nevertheless, when considering a headphone, drivability is also important since i had tried my MP3 with Senn HD212 PRO and i need to set the player to max vol to get the bass out. Tis will definitely drain the battery and the player will not last long. So i will stick to the easy driven headphone like ES-5 or PX100. Didnt really check out the earphone though and it seem sony EX51LP has good reviews too. Just my personal opinions CHEERS Marc
  25. Dear Kevyan It seem that the review does not speak well of your ES5 lei. Well i personally does not like the PX200 due to the weak bass output but since i am more into vocal & jazz, ES5 may not be a good choice too. Maybe i should stay with the PX100 even though it is less detailed than the PX200. Any inputs for Koss Portapro? How does it match against the PX100? I believe a good headgear should have the mid of px100 & tight bass of ES5 & WARMNESS of AKG 81P
