I used to be a hardcore audiophile back in the 90's. My last set of power amp include WE300B, AudioNote M1 pre-amp & lowther speaker. IMHO, UM1 is like Rogers LS35B, you know what I mean if you are into vocal. It may lack bass, but when the vocal sounds, it compensates everything! UM2 is a improved LS35B, if such a speaker does exists!?!?! When Martha Argerich plays Chopin Polonaise in A flat Opus 39, I really feels I'm in "heaven"..... Sorry, I don't really knows any brand of IEM.

I just do it, upgrade to UM2. Lots of people have mixed feeling for UM2. I listen to jazz vocal, classical music. In summary "Just Do It"!!! If you like UM1, UM2 can do more in low, mid and high frequency!!!

I managed to replace the 3x470uF, 16V capacitors to Elna audio grade (red colour), bought from Koba at $0.60 each. The immediate result is improved overall sound-staging and bass performance. I just finished the job less than 30 mins, now listening to it. I believe it will improve more after running in. Didn't replace the 2x2200uF, 6.3V, as the Elna audio grade is bigger and therefore causes physical obstruction when closing the case. Gary (designer) claims that these 2 capacitors are the output ones and sound may improve if they are changed. So, for those who own this amp, I'll strongly recommend to give this mod a try.

Thanks for selling me the PA2V2, I'm listening to it now. My source is a Panasonic SL-CT720 line out via Canare L2B2 with Neutrik "L" plugs to the amp. I'm from the old school of hi-fi, those were the days whereby Linn Sondek LP12 and Western Electric 300B is my reference. I'm very impressed with Westone UM1(bought last weekend), never thought headphones can be that good! My only worry now is my ear drums, as I normally listen to very loud level with jazz and classical music !!

Latest update! Today morning was hunting for Panasonic SL-CT720, finally found 1 unit in Harvey Norman, Millennium Walk. Guess what??? It's on 1/2 price offer, so grab it at S$99. That's a few sets of CT710 & CT510, also on 1/2 price discount. After going through today's hunting down for a portable CD player, I feel very sad, as most of the electronics shops, Harvey, Denki and Courts, either don't have it on display or totally don't sell anymore. So, for those who still listen to CD, grab a backup player, before its too late.

Hi, I would like to check any recommendation of portable CD player, as this thread was some time back. I'm using UM1 on my old Sony D365 player. Like the UM1 very much, especially on jazz.
