  1. yes it'll sound great unamped. it's even good straight off the airline seat's headout.
  2. look no more. the perfect solution for your needs, the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-A...s/dp/B000OMKR8E
  3. checkout the website, search for the local dealer, it's all there.
  4. blackie, sorted. no need to bump here bump there. V-Moda Vibe Redroxx http://www.v-moda.com/collection/modaphones.aspx
  5. Audio-Technica AD700. easy to drive and big-sounding for the price of around 200sgd.
  6. brilliant writeup, i have all the cans u've mentioned except the RS-1 coz grads and my skull shape dun agree, plus i'm allergic to the brightness fatigue. other than that, your description fits mine exactly.
  7. yeah 5hr is talktime, but u use it as a convergence combo, it becomes worse and u gotta half that 5hr and half that 10hr. we might have to charge twice a day. price to pay for an unbeatable interface. are singtel apps gonna be free?
  8. was looking at that beautiful interface too but several things made me bulk. first, the deal is totally dumb when u gotta be tied down with 1 provider. second, it's 3G when others are on 3.5G HSPDA broadband speeds last year? 3rd, the pathetic batt life. fourth, 2nd gen is made of plastic when 1st gen metal? 5th, is the DAC a samsung? 6th, can't keep more than 50 sms/emails before it starts lagging. lastly, did i mention the hopeless 5hr batt life? convergence is still overrated. hence sticking to a dedicated player with stonking sound makes sense. for now.
  9. wow PNY 32gb sdhc only 200sgd on amazon. this is getting too interesting. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...im/abi-forum-20
  10. 5th gen 30gb ipod refurb going for 238sgd. http://store.apple.com/1800-MY-APPLE/WebOb...?nplm=FA444ZP/A not as good sounding as cowon and can be improved by external amping and thus raising your cost and bulkiness in portability. but some can't live without the itunes software and interface and thus stuck with ipod. only 14hr batt life. no mem expandability.
  11. best deal around currently is the 16gb cowon d2 from amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Cowon-Portable-Multi...14495980&sr=8-1 310sgd + 21sgd (vpost home) = 331sgd a steal for a top notch player capable of playing back FLAC natively, 52hr batt life, 37mw per channel of built-in amp power (no more external amp needed) and infinitely expandable memory bay. add a superfast Class 6 Transcend 16gb SDHC for only 115sgd w/free card reader, and u have a total of 32gb of pure sonic bliss on tap. no more noisy or fragile HDD.
  12. yeah chao, time to do some legwork, pls let us know your findings...
  13. no. u need proper desktop amps like Rudistor, Yammamoto, Higher Fidelity...etc
  14. dunno the current price but definitely over your stated budget. bass goes deep if not punchy ONLY WITH THE RIGHT AMP. k701 is a well-known bitc-h to amp. it's very much suited for jazz & classical, so if those genres are up your alley, then it really shines on these.
  15. precisely the same results i experienced. yeah it does get hot after a while, the only circumaurals i have that dun really heat up is the K701.
  16. or, "semi-closed" is as good as closed.
  17. the senns are open, 880 is semi.
  18. try the new Behringer Xenyx 502, same specs as the old 802 minus # of inputs. http://www.behringer.com/502/index.cfm?lang=ENG
  19. i dun hear why not. i once tried a Soundcraft mixer with the K701 and it was an effortless drive. these mixers are pro stuff and many are engineered very well. other great brands of studio mixers are Mackie and Studer. DJ mixers like the high quality Allen & Heath models also make excellent headphone amps.

    Which amp?

now this could be the perfect one-stop solution.

    Which amp?

yep. though i'll take the HD600/Ray Samuels pairing over that anyday.
  22. in addition to the HD600, i'd also suggest the Denon D2000. better bass details without the Senn veil and much easier to amp. great for j-rock! the HD600 paired with Ray Samuels amps are much desired though it might blow your budget.
