    Denon C700

Haha. Np man. Actually, that is the same for many headphones too but you don't get the local warranty Yeah, unless you really want a portable headphone. I have not tried them but I read they are not very far from the es7? Btw, how much did you pay for the Atrio M5?
  2. Sure sounds like a China clone to me. Haha! Just like Neutrik Locking Headphone Jack-look-alike at SLT.. They just don't have the word "Neutrik" at where its supposed to be.

If you are going for brands like Eyts and UE, I suggest you buying from US, they are MUCH cheaper there

    Denon D2000

It is around S$400. You guys can check it out (and buy) at pricejapan or audiocubes too. The last time I checked it was cheapest at pricejapan.
  5. Haha. I have no idea how it sounds nor any intention of getting it. If they were as cheap as the $50 iM716, I would jump on them
  6. That looks really nice with the the skirting+panels! Much better than without the skirting.
  7. Thats not much cheaper than a 3G 8GB iPod nano man.
  8. Any chance you can compare it with the ES7? Considering the price difference of x2.
  9. Thanks! Yeah. I spent an hour(!?) at farnell looking for alternatives but there isnt any suitable ones. Will head down to slt today and see if I can find them.
  10. Hi, I looking for a few of those for my CK2III. Does anyone know where to get them? I have tried Farnell but they don't have it. There is only those rated at 50+W and cost 10+bucks each, which are definately overkill x1000. The official specs for it is: 0.47R 1W 5% miniature non-inductive metal oxide. Lead spacing 0.5"/12.7mm The key thing is the resistance and induction, has to be 0.47R and non-inductive. The power rating can be higher, tolerance better, size bigger/smaller. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the replies! I think I will just stick to no switches since I will not be powering up two sources at the same time. Plus I have gotten the Alps 50k pot, not cheap man

    Mini3 Pot

You might want to reheat the solder pads of the pot and see if its a soldering/connection problem. Something like that happened to me when I was making my mini3 too. The right channel wasn't working but when I turn the volume knob and hold it with some force, the right channel worked! But anyway, it was just my bad soldering. I went to reheat the pads and now its working well
  13. Hey sputnik, I see. It should be alright for my friend. Thanks btw!
  14. Thanks for all the replies! My friend really has superb hearing. Mine is probably average, definately not deaf yet. Haha. She listens at ~25% with an iPod, on a bus with only 1side, I can barely the vocals... She listens mostly to Rock, Pop and sometimes Jazz, seldom genres like Classical, Hip-Hop/Rap. I doubt the Um1 will do for her, considering she thinks the Ex71s are OKAY in the bass area. Haha. I think the CK7 will probably be the best bet for her. Another question, have anyone had any issues with the treble of CK7? Too bright/shrills?
  15. Hmmm, thats a good idea. So I reckon there will not be any degradation of SQ??
  16. EP630 vs Ex71, I really dont think there will be much improvement.. Have anyone heard them both? Mylars, not considering - build quality, bass.. Plus my friend likes bass I will check out the Super.fi 3, see if they how they fit, I have read alot of issues with it.
  17. Hi, I am looking for a pair of canal phones for my female friend, with a budget of ~$100, MAX of $150. She is currently using a pair of Sony EX71 and feels that the bass is fine. (WTH, even I find them a little too much) The reason is probably cause she listens at REALLY LOW volumes. Volumes which I can barely hear the vocals and my hearing is pretty fine ( I listen at ~50% volume on a iPod with IEMs). So, the criteria is: 1) Sounds good even at low volumes 2) Good Bass Quality & Quantity 3) Suitable for small ears & ear-holes - Comfortable So far, I have zoomed in on AT ATH-CK7 and Creative EP-630, but I have no idea how they sounds at low volumes or whether the EP-630 are worthed the "upgrade". Btw, I am not considering the Mylars due to their build quality, not a good candidate as a gift.. Anyone have any/other suggestions? Thanks!
  18. Hi, I am in the process of building a CK2III amp and like many other DIY amps, they only accept a single input. However, I have 2 sources but no switch box. Is it advisable to install 2 sets of RCA then connect them together then to the single input on the PCB? Will there be any degradation of SQ and any other issues that might result from it? I will be installing a ground loop breaker between the amp and the power ground anyway. Thanks!
  19. swmaxxx: I have audition the DT770 Pro and I feel they lack a good instrument separation. Plus their bass and plus it is a closed headphone, it makes them lack clarity compared with the DT880 (05) and DT990 (05). But the thing is the pair of DT770 Pro I auditioned was slightly faulty, the left channel was of lower volume (cable problem), thus I did not pay much attention to them. Another thing to note is that I did not find the 770s bass heavy, I reckon the 770s are really spoiled. Either way, I did not like their sound signature. Reputator: Well, soundstage has always been a issue with closed cans but the thing with the Denons is their soundstage is pretty good(for a closed can of course) and they have great imaging. Quoted from a review on head-fi ( I cant remember who is the reviewer, plus head-fi is down)," I have no idea how do they do it without S-Logic". I auditioned the DT880 (05) and DT990 (05) with the impression of Denons still fresh in my mind. Honestly, I was not impressed with them at all. The bass extension of the DT990 was nowhere close to that of Denons. In fact, I find the DT990 slightly lacking in bass.. For their prices, I was expecting more. IMO though. Well, my Denons are already on their way. And till then I will refrain from making any other comparisons
  20. Thanks heady. Looking forward to replace my xmod with it.
  21. Heady, can you comment about the Alien DAC? It has been hyped quite alot, I am wondering is it THAT good or whatsoever. Thanks

Hmmm. I have not listened to the Denons critically so I would like to refrain from comparing it with the Beyers. But it regarding the bass, the denons had better bass extension and more in quantity. It is pretty much of what genres you listen to, I definately would not suggest the denons for classical/jazz. Anyway, my sources are nowhere top notch. A portable cdp, dap and a mini3 portable amp. My guess is probably like what you said too about the beyers that didnt impress me, "non musical, boring, lifeless & lacks emotion"? But either way, I will wait till I get my denons
  23. Hahaha. Yeah, this is going pretty off. Na, its not really the June and Nov paper thingy. UK have a different syllabus requirements, just like many other countries which uses A levels, e.g. HK, Sri Lanka etc. The A levels here is "tailored" according to SG government requirements by Cambridge. If we were rich enough, we could all go US/UK and get straight As.. LOL.
  24. milkpowder: Yeah! I heard from my friends, who went to UK after SG O Levels, that the A Levels there is...okay, simple or not, but to them, it was easy...
