  1. just curious, do the ppl at DIGI or ACE insert the foam piece real deep? is it really a must to insert the foam piece so deep in when they don't utilise the whole ear mould?
  2. there's this guy on jaben who is selling his away. if you have an acc. at jaben forum, you might want to ask him?
  3. but the pain i experienced was more of like the eardrum was gonna rupture any moment.. it didn't feel like the substance sticking onto the remaining ear wax kinda pain.. by substance, i suppose you're referring to the the thing they pump in after they pushed the sponge-like thing in? and the guy at jaben didn't manage to push the sponge-like thing once and for all in. he had to u know keep checking where the sponge is and keep changing positions. aaah. torture!! hello dragonboy, YES. im pretty much in your friend's shoes. i have a bad phobia of doing ear impressions now. maybe that's why im not tempted to upgrade to jh13 pro. HAHAHAs.
  4. not sure if it's my luck or genetic structure of the ear, both of my ears experienced great pain during the ear impression. the pain was so overwhelming that i teared. not cry la. but tearing.
  5. my experience was a hell yeah bad one. it felt as though my eardrums were on the verge of rupture. the pain is similar to diving to 4metres in depth without clearing your nose at all. the guy at jaben who did my ear impressions told me that the pain is due to the air pressure in between the sponge-like thing and the eardrums. as the sponge-like thing enters deeper into the ear canal, the air pressure in between the sponge-like thing and the eardrums builds up, which results in the tormenting pain. if this is his reasoning, it makes me wonder why some feel it and some don't? maybe i have have sensitive ear nerves. mm. The next time i have another custom, i'm definitely going to an audiologist.
  6. i have done my ear impression at jaben before. it was a very painful and memorable (not in a good way) experience. there was slight bleeding. the following week after i did the impressions, coincidentally there was an annual medical check up conducted by the military camp i was in. thankfully, the bleeding was due to abrasions on the wall canal. and nothing serious. and it took one whole week for my ear to feel normal again. for that entire week, my ear felt violated and uncomfortable enough for me to stop listening to my iems. note that i listen to my iems without fail everyday. it's like a daily vitamin i must partake. my question would be, whether or not is it a common thing to feel pain during ear impressions. i understand there's a different pain threshold level for everyone. But we're not talking bout who is able to withstand the highest magnitude of pain here. just something painful enough to certify that the feeling is beyond uncomfortable boundaries. I'm sure many would be able to justify what constitutes the meaning of 'uncomfortable' and 'pain'. i have these questions squirming in my head after i realize that some seem to just feel uncomfortable and others seem to experience tormenting pain. is it due to the inconsistency of the executor (of the ear impression) or is it due to every individual's characteristically different ear canal? if the answer is due to the inconsistency of the executor, i'm going to make certain the next time i get my ear impressions done at a certified audiologist. it didn't occur to me (i have no idea why it didn't) until i read a post by canoncal on this thread. who's going to be responsible if any eardrum is being ruptured? i wonder if jaben will take the responsibilities. afterall, no law abiding contract was signed or recognised. but nevertheless, i must say jaben did a pretty decent job in the ear impression. i.e. the customs fit pretty well except a very slight miscue in the left ear. i have read several comments about their customs fitting. these people had their customs impressions done at jaben. strangely enough, most have perfect fit in the right ear but slight miscue in the left ear. alrighty, i hope someone out there has an answer to my question. thank you all!
  7. yes i would second direcow's statement. i guess yeah not ordering your customs from jaben? mm, but if you are ordering from them, i think you can set your mind at ease! think only 2 ppl at jaben do the impressions. Mr Wilson and his assistant Gabriel. heard that jaben paid good money in order to master the impression-moulding skill. so you can be at ease when they do your impressions for you!
  8. that's nice! i'd bet she would be touched!
  9. get a Ultimate Ears SUPERFI. 5 PRO..trust me it's darn good. good sound quality. good seal. im using vision M too. tog with these IEMs, im like in heaven! it's 300++. a bit off from ur budget. but trust me, u will be thankful for making this decision. comes with 2 yr warranty! u can try it at jaben (aldephi building) or stereo (causeway pt) for free! try it first! make believe it's darn good! b4 u purchase it!
  10. yo dude, i would definitely say Creative ZEN the credit card one. the sound's really goood. for Creative's lower end mp3 playeers like ZEN STONE, i would say the sound quality sucks. but for higher end players like ZEN (credit card sized one), they rock like hell! im using a Vision M now. the sound quality is really good. never regretted getting it. besides, it's easy to transfer videos from computer to the player. besides, u gotta admit looks better than most models yet affordable!
  11. i finally headed down to jaben today! i tried the TF10, Shure E530 and ESW9.. i decided not to get ESW9 anymore as i gotta up the volume quite a bit in order to listen to it.. hence, i was down to 2 options, shure or ultimate ears! shure definitely looked nicer, more sleek! initially, when i tried the TF10, i couldnt sense the difference between superfi. 5 pro and it. i think it may probably be bc of my prior listening to my mp3 for an hr or so before i went to jaben.. but after an hr of listening..i could tell the difference. TF10 is clearer than superfi. 5 pro..it's hard to really describe everything but the overall sound sounds better..there's this clarity bout it and the vocals are better. on the other hand. shure e530 was a disappointment. it didn't sound like what the reviews have raved about.. in fact i thought it sounded very similar to superfi. 5 pro so..i have decided to get TF10! but i guess i would wait till uncle wilson is back! cause he does provide better service and price! because' he's the boss afterall! also, yst i ripped several songs at lossless (WAV) format..i played both my WAV and 128 kbps (same song, different bit rate) on my mp3 using TF10..seriously, i couldnt hear any difference! either the difference is too subtle or my ears are numbed by that one hr of lsitening i alr had..or perhaps my ears are not as golden as they should be..hmm..
  12. so..u wouldnt recomment esw9 for outdoor use? cause the isolation isnt as good? that's a pity..cause i always intending to bring it out! it has tt nice soundstage..and most of my music listenign time is outside..sigh. guess i should be looknig at IEMS...for further upgrades.. i think i like the esw9 pretty mucch! but if the isolation's not tt good..and if i gotta turn up the vol. in order to listen to it..and tt m,ay impair mmy hearing abilities..then i think i should be looking at IEMs instead..
  13. thaNKs for ur reply! think i gotta really try both to see the difference! what bout if u rip the songs at 320kbps or lossless format and u listen to these high quality songs from the TF10 or shure 3530, do they really sound orgasmic? think my major problem here is not choosing between TF10 or shure e530 BUT choosing between ESW9 OR IEMS..hmmm i currently own a superfi. 5 pro..i seldom listen to it at home..occasionally thoh. i use my IEMS 90% of the time on the train or bus..tt's when the problem enters..must i turn up the volume real high in order to enjoy the music streaming from ESW9? i dont wanan make a mistake of getting the inappropriate music-ware then later keep upgrading! though i would love to say tt it would be best to own both IEMs n ESW9 but ah! im not born with a silver spoon hahahhas.. do u know of anyone who personally owns ESW9? i have read reviews..they seem to be head over heels with ESw9...is it one of the top notch for CLOSED CAN headphones?
  14. have u tried the ESW9 on the train or buses b4? is the isolation tht bad? isnt it closed can..thought closed can would be rather okay..? is the soundstage better than shure e530? and is the soundstage one of the better ones for closed can headphones? sorry for bombarding u with these questions! cause i need to make a critical decision on whetehr to get ESW9, TF10 or shure e530!
  15. i just bought the complys yst actuallly. it doesnt seem to be such of a WOAH afterall..cause b4 the complys, i kinda customed the earbuds to my own preference by using a smaller size for my left ear n a bigger size for the right ear. the fitting is okay, not exactly fantastic but acceptable. Isolation on ESw9..is it really tt lacking? i tried it b4 at CK TANG's last level where they allow u free auditioning of audio technica products..despite the rather loud ambient noise, the isolation seems to hold up pretty well for me..or was it bc i was too into the music tt i keep increasing the volume? i wonder. hahahahs. have u tried b4 er6i's foamtips isolation? those r really woohoo! blocks out the sound like nuts! betweent ESw9 and TF10, which soundstage is better? cause i think i may be a more soundstage person..cause the carpetners sound sounded so good on the esw9! yup, thanks for ur reply! yes..i guess so tt's the gist. for tF10 to work at its peak, which bit rate is the best? as in optimum yet saves space on my hardisk player. 256kbps?
  16. heya, i need solid advice on this matter man. i went to jaben today to try the audio technica ESW9. i kind off liked the soundstage it offers. i was listening to Carpenters's' EVERY SHA on it and it sounded really soothing and peaceful. it sounded better than MY current UE superfi. 5 pro. i'm rather tempted to get the ESw9. But i have no idea whether would it be a mistake. Or should i perhaps get UE triple10. pro? i tested it for a while today too. its soundstage is significantly better than superfi5. pro. however, its price tag is much bigger than ESw9 too. i read that UE 10pro works best with bit rates like 192kbps and above. My songs, i suspect at least 50% of which are perhaps at 128kbps. which means that if i get the UE 10 pro, i can't exactly reap the benefits of UE10 pro right? because i couldnt feel the difference between 10PRO and superfi.5 except the soundstage. is the bit rate causing this problem? and also, it's tough for me to up the bitrate since most of my songs are downloaded. i would greatly appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this matter! also, is the ESW9 isolation bad? someone said tt its isolation is not as good as superfi.5 pro? but can it block out most sounds on the train?

  18. I'm really thinking of upgrading from Ultimate Ears Superfi. 5 pro to ESW9. i saw on the STEREO website that it was categorized under STREETWEAR. but the ESW9 is much more than a streetwear gadget right? any recommendations for something that... really brings out the vocals? for the price range of 300-400? cause i feel that somehow..from my superfi. 5 pro, i can feel the background sounds more than the vocals itself...
  19. hey guy, need some advvice here! im currently using an etymotic er6i. i was wondering if it's worth the bucks to upgrade to a ultimate ears superfi. 5 pro. any suggestions? by the way, does ultimate ears superfi. 3 pro sounds similiar to er6i?
