  1. I made mine myself!! *is proud* I made it for the band website but I thought it looked cool on here.. I might change it though, I have had it for ages.. I will keep an eye open for a new one! I will also add a nice quote to my signature... I wonder will anyone recognise it?
  2. There are websites that try to explain what happened in the end of Eva. I can't remember what they said now, but it seemed to make some kind of sense! I like the way the Gainax got so low on budget that they resorted to drawing stick men Thats dedication to finishing the project! I got up to ep 14or so of Noir, but then I had to delete all the ep's from my computer so I could make a backup of the hard-disk! NooOooo now I can't finish watching them until my brother returns from university with his CD's of them all.... Does it have agood ending??
  3. So what was the problem in the end? Ground loops or bad earthing of the chassis or something not as simple? I feel very lucky to be protected by these policies, believe me! Does the same apply for computer parts in S'pore? The number of times I have had damaged computer parts and sent them back... If that was not allowed I would be very broke!!! Good Luck Huma Dragonbane!
  4. How do you anti-lias sound? In the context of graphics its just some kind of intelligent blur... Obviously you can sample the background noise if you have a recording of just that and then remove any sound matching the pattern of that sample in the recording. However I don't know if that is anti-liasing or what?! It works well though! As far as I know ANY noise removal system applied to a recording will remove some of the musical signal as well. There is no way around that. So it is not always a good thing! What exactly do you want to know about 1-bit DAC's and Delta Sigma? That?s a bit vague hehe...
  5. Saw some comedy show while flicking through channels. A guy had CD3k's while takeing the piss out of D.J's. I commented to my girlfriend as I was like 'wow look, he has CD3k's!!' but she was not impressed!
  6. Even if the recording is digital all the way you can have hiss. Only it is not hiss, it is just background noise from the room. I have only heard this in classical music or music recorded with just a pair of microphones for pure stereo. If it is a big room and not completely sound proofed, there will inevitably be some noise from traffic and air-con and the other people in the room not performing at that time. Still I actually enjoy it sometimes. Shows off how detailed your system is ? How does that saying go? You can hear what the 3rd violinist in the second row back had for breakfast?
  7. If you are not too bothered about the quality... Why not just download the music you want on MP3? You already own the recordings in vinyl so its not illegal, right? I may be wrong there though Then burn them to CD from your computer. If your records are old and not particularly well taken care of (being played on bad TT?s and ruin them) then you may find the quality better! However I say don?t be discouraged by the comments, you will be fine with the Pro-ject. Just ask the shop the basics on how to set up and you should be fine for playing back a few old favourites. Mackie and others are vinyl junkies so they find it hard to bare the thought of someone not getting full potential from their deck.
  8. Very well spotted! I assure you it was completely unintentional!
  9. Indeed they are! GR10's Yes, sorry forgot to warn you guys! Explicit lyrics. But not too many I also just realised that 'Left Behind' and 'Money In My Pocket' are not actually on the website. But yeah, 'Genuine Problem' - Me 'Stop For Nothing' - Howard the other two we share.
  10. Well my friend and I are in a band and we have finished recording out first album! yay! Well it?s not actually the first, but it is the first decent-ish one! Anyway, I am going to send N@Z a copy and he suggested putting a link to our site on here! So check it out! Smoke It 'n' Die Web Page You can see some pictures; listen to the 'music' and so on... My friend is Howard (first picture on the site) and I am Simon (the second picture) My friend writes the music and plays guitar. I record and produce it. We share singing and drumming. So you can tell who sings what.. I sang 'Genuine Problem' and 'Left Behind' you should be able to tell what ones I'm in from that, and Howard sang 'Stop For Nothing' and 'Money in My Pocket' I hope you like it! If not then I don't blame you! lol!
  11. I am afraid I don't know the cost or where to get it in S'pore. I live in England Try asking on www.echoloft.com (SG Hi-Fi forum) I have no doubt someone there will have an answer for you on just where to get one and how much it will cost. Good Luck!
  12. The Pro-ject Debut Phono SB (Speed Box) has a built in phono stage. You can just plug this into your standard line level headphone amp and away you go! It also comes with an Ortofon cartridge. Tape decks try JVC or Yamaha.
  13. I would think the congestion comes from the raise in 55Hz and 77Hz. From the graph it does not seem to me very necessary. From the graph I would say changes more like: 170Hz -1 500Hz +1 700Hz +2 1KHz +1.5 1.5KHz +2.5 2KHz +3 6KHz +1 9KHz -2 15KHz +4 Would be more in order to flatten out the response. The trouble is you can't SEE the result! You can only hear it, and human ears are extremely tolerable to frequency change. I don't think equalisers are very necessary for headphones, just choose a pair you like the sound of. There are no problems like having a room! I'm actually surprised by how much the frequency of the 880 changes. I guess it is intentional to make them sound better. Or at least what they think sounds better. Have fon!
  14. Yes I didn't realise s'pore had no returns policy. Now I know why people are so keen on shops that offer home trial! I am sure you must have a few cool laws that we don't!
  15. Maybe, it does have differant DAC's. Though it might just be I was expectiong more considering all the great reviews. Oh well.... I'm not really botherd now, its all sent back Thank-you,
  16. BTW, how much do the Eigth Nerve response controllers cost? Just curious...
  17. Cheers MAckie, As it happens I did try using it like you just suggested. That?s kinda' what I meant by just using it for room mode treatment. There were only 3 problems I could see though which were a bass suck out at about 135Hz, an increase at 80Hz and a slight suck out at 12Khz. Like this it didn't change the tonality and the width of the sound staging was also not affected much. The bass did became better. But I just didn't feel the improvement was worth the money. Especially as the width of the soundstage was still changed noticeably when a/b'ing and to be honest bass is not a big factor for me. Perhaps if bass is important to you then you would find this a good upgrade. Thank-you for all your help! BTW, when I said 3 days I mean 3 days solid not 3 days after work and between dinner
  18. Weeelp.. I got the Behringer DEQ2496 (new version of the 8024) and played with it for 3 days! I first used the built-in 61-band real time analyser (RTA) to see the response of my system and adjust it with the GEQ and PEQ. However when I played music the vocals and midrange sounded really recessed and quiet. So the next day I used CoolEdit Pro2 to do the analysing and found that what the built-in RTA said was flat was actually quite a way off! So I re did it all using the comp to analyse the results of any EQ?ing. It sounded allot better like this, however it was still quite damped down in the mid-range and the highs were a bit ear piercing! The bass on the other hand did benefit significantly, mostly due to being able to extend the rang of the sub another 10hz or so and flattening out an 80hz bump. So I spent another 2 days just toying around with different variations on the EQ (flat, just removing room modes, tuned by ear etc..) But in every attempt, when compared to the original un-altered signal it just sounded extremely lifeless and very narrow. The sound-staging and size of the performance dramatically reduced. So after 3 days solid of playing with it I have now sent it back for a refund. Yes, I spent time trying to get used to the new sound (I am quite used to flat response speakers as I do allot of work in studios) but whenever I did an A/B comparison to the ?bypassed? signal it just did not compare. I can see how it could be of more benefit in a room with worse acoustic conditions. My room is pretty good anyway and although I could find it useful to have a flat response for when I?m mixing down, it just didn?t seem worth the £240. I will say that the bass was much better and the overall sound, although drained of all life, did sound more controlled but I don?t think it revealed any more detail because of this. So my conclusion would be a thumbs down I?m afraid ? If you have a well balanced system that is to your taste and it is set up correctly in a acoustically sound room (no pun intended) then I do not feel a EQ is necisarry!
  19. Gahh, my dad had the flu this weekend so I couldn't go round and get pictures of the O\ZON radio or even work on it. sorry! ..beginning to look like it will never happen! My favourite Dilbert character is the boss. He is just so life like! I have a sound clip of him listening to a tape 'English for Managers' in the car and he is repeating all the management talk all screwed up
  20. I love Dilbert! That cartoon is SOO funny!! I saw those tins on this site a while ago and tryed to buy some.. but they would have cost me about £60 just for a few paks of mints! I don't know how the post cost so much! I like the 'Manage-Mints' Anyhoo, nice to see anther Dilbert fan. I only know one other person who 'gets it'
  21. I asked my firend but he just said he got it in a small record shop in London. He couldn't remeber anything else... Sorry!
  22. Only if you burn ur hair
  23. Which is the best track? Music wise and as an example of binaural recording.
  24. Ahh! Forgot about that! I have been too busy with making the album the past few weeks... (aslo I'm lazy) I'll take them this weekend, but I have not done anything since I posted last! What I did build only 30min ago though was some blocks of wood to make my chair higher so my ears are level with the tweeters Hehee.. good tweak for a small amount of money! Sound staging suddenly becomes that bit more vivid, and no burn-in required!
