depends on what tubes the amp is using actually. just scored 6 tung sol rebranded raytheon 12ae6a tubes on ebay for 21.50usd. if there wasnt another interested buyer i could have gotten it for lesser. seller actually willing to ship to sg(always ask). they dun look NOS but they are. dun think the tubes are tested thou. if i can make 2 good pairs from the lot. it will be awesome.

My recent addition to my home rig. (lazy to take pictures, using some ebay picture) To my ears, the 4.5v DC powered D-171 lineout has come too close to matching my foobar(wasapi)>D3 line out dac, playing the same cd(ALAC lossless on foobar). At times i couldnt really tell the difference in sound between the 2 source. Considering that the D-171 is not recognise by headfi, I cannot imagine how the lineout of some of the top end vintage pcdp will sound like as compared to my laptop+dac setup. Any idea where can i get a D303 without giving up an arm or a leg? @Arthur, nice stax rig, is this the model that you told me you wanted to get?

you are mistaken for sure. the D3 python does not accept ac power. if not i would like to know how to use 9v ac on my D3.

alkaline batteries? wonder what brand it is. usually it happens to alkaline batteries which the batteries have run out and left inside for long time(that how my panasonic pcdp got spoilt) best bet is to take your D3 down to stereo to let them check and see if they can replace another set for you under warranty.

guess there's nothing much for me to share here i guess? i got 6 eneloops batteries for my D3. rechargeable batteries is a better long term investment.

nothing spectacular 'toys' on my side. should be bringing everything in my signature except the spare 30gb ipod if possible. very interested to try out eric new dac, uberburger101 new grados, jojo new stuff(god knows what new 'toys' he gotten), wkwib new headphones, ical big brother vs whenesday little brother denon. ok who else has new stuff please own up now. cant wait......

ibasso D10 cobra is selling for USD275. is currently out of stock at the moment. might retail at arnd ~$400 sgd if you have a optical output from your source, the d10 will be a good choice. battery life is not fantastic thou, 20hrs for the amp/dac combo. op amp rollable, making the d10 very versatile in terms of sound signature. might be tempted if i got a iriver h140 myself.

haha you opposite from me. i cannot stand built in batteries. cause if got anything wrong with it especially after warranty will be very troublesome to replace. well using 5AAA, the battery life of 100hrs lasts like crazily long. (if u use the energizer lithium batteries think can last 300hours) the plus factor is that if you are afraid of running out of batteries, just carry 5AAA batteries as spare in your bag. and pico is even greater than the D3 if you got the $$$

D3 owner here. gotta agree it is a very very fine amp+dac for its size. do drop by stereo for a audition. nothing beats hearing the magic it can produce for yourself.
