  1. It seems I read on head-fi that they isolate the least among all the sleeves. And yes, they fit the e1. Personally of all the sleeves i tried for e1, the soft flex sleeve aside, I found the foamies and tri flange each are good in their own ways. The tri flange however is very troublesome for me to insert. IMO, the tri flange presented most ambience and details while the foamies gave very airy vocals whichs the tri flange lacks in.
  2. Other than the pana, sharp and sony, none of the above-mentioned provides any islolation. As a rules of thumb, amps improve the sound most of the time, if not always.
  3. N@Z it does well outdoors. Try indoors with fluorescent lighting (w/o sunlight of course). Not too good. I have taken outdoor shots and yes they are real great, especially at ISO 50. No matter what they look good when small. But if you enlarge to nearer to its full resolution (about 1280 x 960 and above) they are pretty noisy.
  4. I have this camera and it suffers from a lot of noise. Worse than many other digicams at ISO 200. But at ISO50 its very good.
  5. It might, before burn in the highs are always harsh. I have a headache when I listen to un burned in cans for a period of time. Hopefully its not because of the clamp....
  6. I guess you answered your own question. try at least 3 days non-stop run-in.
  7. The D-EJ1000 which barradio owns has pretty good line out.
  8. http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=2111 Come on someone grant him his GBA SP! Happy bday!
  9. The line out of D777 is pretty crappy. The headphones out is very good. So if you are using an amp the D777 would not be a very wise choice. If not using any amp, D777.
  10. Just to clarify, he told me through PM that he wanted not the one with neckband, but instead a earphones with a longer cable for the right earbud so the cable can go behind his head. My bad.
  11. Yes I got it. They got a pair for me from the sole distributor but it seems that they only got A PAIR. You can either check with the distributor or contact them. http://www.welect.com/ Barradio is also waiting for a pair. Hopefully the salesperson won't confuse you and barradio and bring in only 1 pair! You are looking for tri-flange for e1/e3/e5 also? If its the others (foamies and flex) I think they are available there. Pricing wise I think its more or less quite standard. BTW I do not know where the sole distributor is. Anyone care to share?
  12. Naruto Episode 101 is very very funny. It strayed away from the manga and the next few episodes will also. But its so funny!
  13. But the KSC35 is clip-on, like the KSC50 not behind-the neck.
  14. I think the artistes in Singapore Hit Awards 2004 were using Shure e1 (perhaps the PSM). Hopefully not my eyes playing tricks on me.
  15. I have tried buying the Canare starquad L-4E6S from LHS before and he told me that he doesn't sell them in loose lengths. Hence the L-2T2S. Just a point to note. I remember in one of the thread it is said that Hung Bros. sells them but I can't verify that. Mogami can be found in Team108 www.team108.com
  16. Definitely not the same. It does provide a little isolation, much better than without any. Anyway ADDA, Thermaltake, just plain noisy fans that push a lot of air thats all.
  17. I don't think so mmatrix. The fitting for the EXs are idiot-proof. llcla: Try grinding your teeth, if they sound significantly louder than with the earphones off then it should not be a fit problem. Also try playing some music with the earphones one and see if it sounds louder from one side. If not, then there is nothing wrong with the fit. I have the EX70s and as I type now listening to some music with them on I can still hear myself typing (though sounds faint). Thats about the amount of isolation it can only provide. About the sound of wind blowing its actually microphonics. Whenever there is tension on the cord leading to the isolating earphones (i.e. no slack), and the cable rubs against anything (esp shirt) there is this awkward sound. In the sonys it sounds like wind howling. Thats microphonics. Err do you use ADDA 80mm 50cfm case fans? Or Thermaltake CPU fans?
  18. The sonys don't actually provide a lot of isolation. But it is A LOT for someone who has just been introduced to isolating cans. Your best bet would be to go with either the Etys or the Shures, keeping in mind that if isolation is the largest factor for you, the foamies are always worth a try. Do note that either the shures or the etys are slightly more of a hassle (depending on the sleeve used, tri flange for shures due to the long stalk and foamies being the most troublesome IMO) to insert compared to the sonys which are like just-slide-it-in, very much like non-isolating earbuds. The looser fit/softer sleeve is probably also why they don't isolate so well as much as they are comfortable.
  19. bpribadi: the point about shielding can be quite debateable. If you read about different kinds of DIY interconnects, you would discover that many people say that removing shielding brings about more dynamics.
  20. heady: I guess a relatively good one would be to get the Mogami starquad mic cable 2534 (www.team108.com). This is a 4-core one but if you were to make into a headphones extension you would use 1 conductor from each twisted pair for 1 signal (hence the starquad). That would still leave you with using the shield as the ground (except this one isn't tinned copper shield and its not braided like in most Beldens. I haven't personally tried it but IIRC the DT880s of av98m was moded with this mic cable. Perhaps he can tell more... Burp... Sorry we are OT.
  21. As per adding anything along the signal path, the cable will definitely alter the sound. The question is whether you can hear it or not, i.e. how much does it change. From my experience it made the sound slightly warmer and a wee bit smoother (note that it was a short run of a mere half metre and I also used Neutrik 1/4" male & 1/4" female locking). As should be expected, the longer the run, the more the sound signature should change. So if your system is on the slightly-too-warm side to you, you might want to look at other alternatives. Otherwise pretty transparent as a headphones extension cord.
  22. Definitely, but how good the phones jack of the int amp is, no one really knows until you try. I remember reading that very often the phones jack are an add-on to the circuit of int amps, i.e. quality of the phones jack wasn't really much of a consideration. Worth a try though.
  23. Perhaps you should wait for the supermono
