  1. It's usually the same 2-pin "F" jacks. How about Beyer DT231? Maybe AA has a special price for the Festive Season? My friend flies mainly SIA, I think its the 2 pin type. Mackie, where in Singapore can we get an F jack adapter? Would Robert at LHS sell?
  2. A friend of mine is looking for cheap headphones (<$100) to use on planes, any recommendations? Ideally closed phones. Is it possible to buy adapters in Singapore so that normal headphones can plug into the airplane seat? If so, where can I get them?
  3. Item has been sold. Thanks for all the interest
  4. Price reduced to $350 to clear. Need cash urgently!
  5. Pictures are here. There is slight damage on the headphone jack, but it doesn't affect the sound at all. See this picture for the damage. I'll be away on holiday this friday onwards, but will check my pm from time to time.
  6. Bought in Mar 04. Selling for $400. Stock tubes, very good condition. No more warranty.
  7. papaya86, I used to have problems with bright sources too when I was using my dvd players as sources. After auditioning a few cd players, I eventually settled on the NAD 542. Its not too expensive (about $600+), with a warm and full-bodied sound, good bass. Try it out if you have an opportunity.
  8. One mod which I tried reduced a lot of the "metallic" sound. I simply cut a circular piece from some regular foamies, took out the rubber plugs and stretched this piece of foam over the grill. Then replace back the rubber plug. Simple and reversible mod, try it. Your mileage may vary, but since it's reversible no harm right?
  9. Hi guys! I just came back from a business trip to Boulder Colorado! Beautiful scenary, my pics don't do justice to it. Any comments are most welcome! Pics taken with a Fuji S1 Pro and Nikon 28-80mm lens. Too bad the camera died when it got too cold in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Even my spare Li batteries couldn't revive it. Couldn't take any shots of snow close up. sob sob
  10. Not again...... I've been using this handle since 1997. That's before there was a Mosaic, which is before there was Netscape, which is before there was Mozilla. And no, it's got more to it than just Fire and fox put together.. Then again, the origins of my handle is probably older than you.. red_ryder Firefox red_ryder Firefox red_ryder Firefox I remember there used to be movie called Firefox about a fighter plane. Starring Clint Eastwood? Is that the origin of your nick?
  11. If I want to do some tube rolling for the Cayin, can I bring it down to Well Audio Labs and get them to do it for me? Of course, I'll buy the tubes from them.
  12. Oops, my mistake. I thought it was a digital amp since the name was so similar to the DRAmp, which is a digital amp. I just assumed that it was the headphone version of the DRAmp.
  13. http://www.audiotrak.net/drhead.htm Anyone tried this out before? Heard that it can be auditioned at Roxy music in Adelphi. Must find some time to go and try! Digital amps have been getting rave reviews online for their detail and clarity, especially price to performance ratio. Wonder how well a digital headamp would perform.
  14. any link between your nick and the browser?
  15. 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
  16. I've been using them since November last yr when my Sonys broke. Much much better than the EX-71s. Tighter bass, crystal clear mids. Only downside is a slightly metallic sound, which can be dampened with a simple reversible mod. Also bought from bluetin for $71 (incl shipping). Quite sure Singapore not selling as I spent an entire day searching for it.
  17. It's a big and rather heavy DSLR, hence the need to carry round the neck.
  18. Slightly OT, but what camera straps do you guys use? I'm been using the one that came with the camera (provided kindly by heady!). But after one day of carrying the camera around my neck it starts to chafe. I went to Allan Photo today to look for replacement straps but they only sell a Nikon one without padding. Any recommendations?
  19. Heady, everytime I visit clubsnap's forums I thank my lucky stars I found the camera. Best deal I ever got in my life, don't worry I'll take good care of the camera. Never share my shots here because shy la. Looking at the shots you guys put up, mine are not up to standard. Maybe if I get some good landscapes at Colorado I'll post them up.
  20. I bought a Fuji S1 Pro from heady a few months back. Great camera by the way, very happy with it! Thinking of bringing it along to my trip to Colorado next month, so I'll probably have to buy a camera bag. Any recommendations? I suspect I'll just put a 28-70mm lens inside and a 50mm prime lens. Don't have a flash unit, and the 70-300mm lens is too heavy to lug all the way there.
  21. There's a temporary shop at Shaw Towers Beach Road, next to Subway. All 1 disc CDs and SACDs are 9.90, 2 discs are 14.90. Classical Music 3 for $10. Not many SACDs and they are mixed up together with the regular cds, but some good buys to be found if you can afford the time to search through the 50,000 cds they have there. Offer ends 2 May. Someone in xtremeplace found a Sting Sacred Love SACD, and yesterday I bought Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain and Santana - Abraxas SACDs. Also saw Earth Wind and Fire SACD and an Oasis album.
  22. No mention in the article about the reason you are burning the CD, I guess it doesn't matter. It's the act of doing it that is illegal.
  23. The recent straits times reported that it would be illegal to even use software that allows you to "break" the copy protection of music CDs and make backups. No mention of whether the CD is owned by you or not. So I assumed that ownership doesn't come into the picture, just the action of using such software is illegal. Frankly I think all this copyright stuff is way over board.
  24. Oh well, with the recent copyright law all this discussion is moot. Duplicating your audio cds is going to be illegal in Singapore, even if you OWN the cd.
  25. I want to connect my CDP to two amps, one for speakers, and one to my Cayin HA-1A. Should I get a split cable or get a switch box? Which option will give better sound, and hopefully lower cost? Thanks!
