Guest dragonboy Report post Posted March 28, 2013 Is it about time I start to consider getting a USB DAC? CD still sounded better but the hassle of changing CD & space taken to keep the hundreds of CD had been driving me to start listening more from my MAC. Need to consider to get something relatively affordable and good. Preferably non portable & does not take up too much space. When you have a family... Every dollar counts 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Guest dragonboy Report post Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) well when u need a usb dac u will need an amp to go with it toothere are stuff like dragonfly dac which is audiophile grade it always boils to how much u want to spend Now with family, need to think before buying toys. You will not understand when you're not there yet 😭😭 Hardly get to listen to my speakers in peace with my monster running around. I wonder if there's even spiders staying inside. 😓😓 Best time now is when everyone sleep, then I can take out my Mac & headphone... That's why I'm looking for a value for money DAC that doesn't hurt my wallet. What's the damage for dragonfly? Edited March 31, 2013 by dragonboy

Guest dragonboy Report post Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) The IFI iDAC looks pretty well built though and at least will not put a hole in my pocket. Edited April 2, 2013 by dragonboy

Guest dragonboy Report post Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) I wonder if the iDAC can change the op amp ? If its portable enough, can consider bringing it along when out station. Edited April 3, 2013 by dragonboy
nekatrall 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2013 looking at the purely just the footprint u cant roll the opamps i think the "direct drive tech" means they dont really use 1, could be a discreet amp
Guest dragonboy Report post Posted April 4, 2013 Does it work if I connect my iPad directly into the iDAC as a digital source? Anyone tried?
nekatrall 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 so far that i know off only certain companies are able to use the i-devices as source like fostex hp-p1 and Cypher Labs Algorhythm Solo and these costs a bomb just to by-pass the dac of i-devices with i-devices price and special dac price combined might as well get a dx100 or ak100
