wil 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 (edited) Hehe, my dad is yet again making a trip to China. He got me the Cayin HA-1A amp which i absolutely love, and i was thinking of asking him to help me check out new stuff over there since he will be going off to Shanghai and maybe Beijing in a week's time. Im particularly interested in the Chinese-made CDPs. Esp the ShanLing CD-T100 or CD-T200 ( sacd player ) which are absolutely GORGEOUS. and perhaps the Shengye CD-S10 CDP. Anyone have any idea how much they actually cost? ( I know the Shanling CD-T100 and 200 are highly regarded ( not so sure about the Shengye though. Oh, here's a few links for you guys to drool over the shanling and shengye ...have fun! headphonecrazy 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 Hey, I'm back from the UK!. Brands like Cayin/Sparks/Original's are quite common and readily available in almost HiFi shops in China. Their prices should be about 30-40% less than retail prices in Singapore. There are two brands that I particularly fancy - Xindak's tube SACD player and Jungson's CD & SACD player. The latter (Jungson) is the "Krell" of MIC players. OEM as the INCA for the UK market, they make very good CD/SACD players (check out the August HIFI CHOICE). Barradio, any comments on your Jungson SACD player, pse post a pic of this lovely component.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 That top loading "Original" CDP is really cool, you should see one with the lid open, very old world charm quaintness to it. Looking at the CD held in place by a magnetic puck while it spins round is mesmerising. Even the lid is held up by a little gas presurrised strut like the ones found on the rear hatch/bonnet covers on cars! OT: Hey HPC! Got anything interesting from London yet? How's about posting some pics of your travels there?
wil 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 IMHO, both the "Original" and shanling CDPs are lookers, but it depends whether you would perfer a minialist look or something more extravagent.... No doubt that both CDPs would look great in any setup though lol
