Brandon.lim 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 In this price range, I think a Marantz CD5400 would be good value for money.
LemonT 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2005 any recommended place to get it and the exact price?
Mackie 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 KEC at Adelphi (opp Funan Ctr) used to sell CD5400 at $399. Not sure what's the latest price but U can try to bargain it lower to meet your budget. Sembawang Music and Gramphone stores use this model for cd testing.
Rameish 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 Alternatively try 2nd hand (audition first for at least an hour to make sure it's working properly). You should be able to get a Marantz CD-6000 OSE LE. Another 2nd hand alternative is the Rotel-951 or 971. You can also look out for NAD.
iriz 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 been scouring ard the net for reviews for the marantz. doesnt seem that favourable. what about the older marantz models like the cd50-60 series? nad! but then which models should i look out for?
iriz 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 6am and still checking out reviews. heheh. silly me, seems the cd5400 not that bad after all!
Absolute0 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2005 It's not all about reviews, you've got to hear the player for yourself! For older Marantz models, check out Marantz CD-6000 OSE LE like Rameish suggested, or even the CD-63.
idkfa 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2005 I guess sometimes it's all too difficult to judge a product. The internet reviews sure play a HUGE part of my shopping. But you got to know where to draw that line. Unless you can "try all you can" before buying it, then it's all up to the reviews. I second the Marantz. Got to listen to it a couple of times.
