gryphon1972 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 Got myself a set of phones for home studio monitoring.....the Senn HD280.......initial impression quite good.....less grainy then the HD497 definitely..... Ablaze: Check out the M audio 2496....quite expensive though....so I went for the older card the Dman PCI which only cost me US$58 including shipping......only 18 bit crystal converter...but should be enough.... evo 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 HD280... closed headphones should be good for outside use, if one can bear the looks one gets from other ppl how's the isolation?
gryphon1972 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 I already got some strange stares today......the isolation is pretty got for outside noise but just seems that it is unable to isolate the rumble of the bus engine when i am on the bus....maybe that rumble is just exceptional Well anyway....main purpose is for using in my home studio so that the headphone monitors wont leak into the condenser mics
evo 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 i had the same "staring" experience with my SR60 but the main problem was the zero isolation and bulky cable now using compromised solution of MX500 ultimate would be etys, i think
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 lol, evo sr-60 is still quite ok looking in my opinion... heheheh but hd280 is just too big lol! I've heard one guy even boarded the bus with W100!! then he became the centre of attraction
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 People notice the SR60 probably because: 1. Sound leaking from the drivers attract/distract people. 2. You look like a refugee from the '50's.
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 yeah agree on the sound leaking part... quite annoying especially if the person is sitting next to you. but I love the look of grados.. very retro and stylish in a way! very robust and like those used in the military or something. I'm thinking of the RME 9632. 24/192 card from a good pro recording company. their previous Digi96/8's highly praised by the HTPC community..but it'll be about S$700 at least

gryphon1972 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 So a HD280 would be small in comparison
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 hd280 can get a bit big because of the shape.. when you wear them, look at yourself on the mirror.. I bet you won't dare to wear them out I think lobster san did take picture of him wearing.. he looks like a dork!!! hahaa
gryphon1972 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 Heheh.....already worn it out for one day....on the bus....MRT....road....
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 oops... scary!! I do find the hd280pro a bit bright. What about u?
gryphon1972 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 it does sound bright when its not run in....after running in....I prefer the highs to my budget HD497 and maybe even my previous W100.....its smooth and extended and much less grainy then my HD497....
