Exams in 3 weeks and what do I do? get a new amp!

 

Wanted to get a heed canamp but the waiting time was a bit too long for me, and when I chanced upon this slightly modded darkvoice I just couldn't pass up.

I have a hd600, hf1 and er4s. Like it with the 1st 2, with the er4s the bass is a bit too weak.

 

 

This is a very solid amp. Build quality is really first class, have never seen a china-made amp with a better build.

 

Sound-wise I don't know how much mine sounds like an unmodded 336i, but reviews at headfi are generally positive.

 

Soundstage isn't as good as my ss amp, but the tone is completely different. I think i'm getting addicted to the tube sound....

hehe thanks. Right now the biggest weakness is the headstage. Waiting for 2 tubes to arrive..some people said it makes the soundstage better........but my wallet now.....

I bought it second hand, but at first-hand overseas price cos it was modded and came with some extra tubes. cost me about 550sgd, which is alot more than you can get it for if you know someone from china who can get it for you. Or else there's a malaysian dealer here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=342802

 

But I would say that unless you're willing to do some mods to it, it's not worth it. Stock tubes not very good, and the amp needs some mods to be done to it so that you can use other tubes, or else there might be some humming sound.

best prices online apart from ebay.

 

 

if you want to shop in sg you could probably find some good tubes from the 2 shops in Burlington sq. or maybe ahfartaudio.

 

there's a thread on head-fi about what tubes to get for this amp
