slwiser 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 (edited) I just got my Xin Reference in the mail yesterday and boy am I pleased.... I can't say enough about how it sounds out of the box.... It is very small and tucks just behind my iMod 5g with the Super Cotton Dock. Things to note... iMod is in the Treadz case from iFrogz The Ultrasone Edition 9 quarter inch connection is direct into the portable Xin Reference, no adapters needed. This unit has both eight and quarter connections. It can power both at the same time. The thickness of the amp and iMod together is about 1.5 inches. The sound is bloody scary good, almost unbelievable out of the box. Output from this amp using 4 AAA batteries is 250 mA at 6 volts. The capacitor is a 22000 uF for those interested. (edited) Battery life is estimated to be at least 200 hours. The bass is deep and powerful right now...into my UE9s. Clarity is excellent in the mid-range and highs into my UE9s. Best of all this unit cost which is very reasonable. Here it sets beside a iBasso T2 for a size comparison with a quarter in the background: Edited July 1, 2007 by slwiser

slwiser 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 Don't know the answer to why he sent it to me except that I had ask him if he could to get me one early enough to burn-in for the upcoming DC area met. I like black in my stuff; i.e., black iMod, black case, and black Xin Reference. Black does not show dirt and finger prints as bad I think.
PPkiller 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 (edited) cool.... how will u describe the sound from reference to the ibasso u own? Edited June 29, 2007 by PPkiller
slwiser 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 I own the T1 and T2. The T2 is heads and shoulders above the T1. The wide feature in the T2 is functional i.e. provides beneficial sound. The Reference has the quality of a home amplifier while the T2 has the quality of a fine portable amplifier. Reference is very neutral and powerful. It has the deepest bass that I have heard from a portable, much like my AT-HAh5000. The AT-HA5000 is smoother, more analog sounding compared with the Reference. Note the Reference is just barely been hear two days so I expect the sound to only get better. It may become more analog before it finishes. It really is to early to make final comparisons.
