a tuner for a beginner like me?

Recommended Posts

Go for vintage or those built in the 10 or twenty yrs ago

Most tuners back in those day are generally better built/spec

in comparison to the current 'modern' tuner sound better too any time any day

own three tuners myself,

sansui tu-217

yamaha tx-930

yamaha t-85

I'm planning to sell my Rotel Reference Tuner RT 990BX. Was Stereophile class B, actually a scaled down version of the RHT10. Comes with a remote and has 16 presets. Anyone interested? $450 ono.

Well since you guys were discussing tuners, I'd just tot someone might be interested.

I'm using a DAB tuner for one of my systems. Sound is crystal clear. But it doesn't have all the radio stations yet. There are other interesting stations though.

I think i'll still go for the 'anitque' ones.

they have this warm sounding feel to it, like marantz cdp...

tubey feeling....

any experience with these few guys(classfied in echo loft)

1. Harmon Kardon Tuner TU930

2.Onkyo Tuner.Model T-4000

pretty old stuff, can't find anything on it online.

tu930 is no vintage look solid n heavy but the pcb is only slighty larger than a credit card the large bulk of it weight came from it own chassis

for those interest in vintage tuners should take a walk along the 2nd shops near sungei road...lot of interesting stuffs to laugh.gif

@augustinRS: Receivers actually consist of an integrated amp and a tuner. All newer units do have am/fm reception. Mostly standalone tuners are way better than integrated ones. But nowadays there aren't too many good tuners around for little money wink.gif
