ckng 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Hi, Just got a pair of UM-1s - when I tried the test pair at Jaben, they sounded very nice and full. But the new one I got is kinda thin. Is this normal? I read that armature phones like this do not need burn-in, so I am not sure if that's going to help. I've tried both the default tips and the "Shure Olive" which they gave me (which looks the same as what's on their test pair). Currently using them un-amped from a iPod Touch. Thanks! ckng 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 hm.. just wondering... are u using the same player and mp3 for the both um1? Of coz. The mids and highs are still very nice, but somehow felt "thinner". Regards CK
Pikachu 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 Try burning them in for a short while with songs.
ckng 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2008 ok, so I found out what's wrong. Looks like I am not wearing it properly and it was not giving a good seal. I must have somehow got it correct at the shop. After some practise, I am now able to get it right and they are now sounding very good. Bass's a little on the light side though. Regards CK
blackmouth0 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2008 rmb, red is on the right side, and blue the left... over your ear...the earphone should give a good seal, and some burn in might be needed.
alvin1118 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 the one i tested @ SE aint sounds as good as the one i bought home from them... The SE' demo-set UM1 sounds thick, full of boomy bass; i found out that the demo set housing is a bit cracked.... Aron mind to check it out?
habba 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 boomy bass? the last time i heard um1, their bass was too little. maybe u've tried the um2 instead. um1 are balance amateurs which dont change much after burning in. thus burning in is not required.
effervescence 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 yup um1 has very muddy bass its not for bassheads!
solo2 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Get the UM2 if you want bass and "oomph" to your music. I was just comparing SE530s with the UM2s through the zen x-fi and the t2 amp, and my oh my, I'm beginning to regret getting the SE530s... the UM2s make music come alive, while the SE530s are just what can I say too subdued for my liking.
