  1. Me also using or seldom using the Rega Planar 3 /RB300. My counterweight was mod by Gabriel of Zenn Audio. He claims he's doing the exact same mod as the Origin mod. Also change the fine wire to VDH. Cartridge using Denon DL103. My Rega is about 15yrs already..
  2. duckling, If closed can you're looking for, El Scorcho having a deal on the Ultrasone HFI-650 for $160.... Don't know if the deal is still on, http://www.sgheadphones.com/index.php?showtopic=1379
  3. With small colletion of LPs, my turntable is hardly used.. Of course my laziness also plays a part in its low usage.
  4. I saw the Reloaded version on IMax.. Definitely worth it for the wow experience, as long as you don't have bad behaving ang moh around as it was in my case then. This time, it's IMAX version again if they have it. Can't remember the price, something like $12 or $13.. Popular Bookstore member got discount.
  5. The voltage depends on the mAh, how many batteries is Headsave is using and also if they're using LDO regulators or the normal ones. Mine only need 27Vdc (15 batts, 800mAh, LDO regulator). Too high at 30V-48V would result in wastage to the regulators in the form of heat..
  6. Thanks for this link.. At least learn something today..
  7. For purist, circuit 2 actually would be better, as it closely resembles a star grounding.. but then for a Cmoy, no diff at all between the 2 circuit.
  8. Couldn't see the color band on the other resistors. Sorry, can't tell is the layout is ok, though it looks about right.
  9. It seems you're using 5% carbon resistors, brown color. Your next upgrade you can try using the 1% metal film type, which is blue color. Your voltage dividers resistor appear to be correct, both 4.7K. From the picture can't tell much.. Maybe take a picture showing how your battery is connected to the board..
  10. THis is bad. For 9V, should roughly be +-4.5V. Varies within 10% still acceptable. Very weird. I think your wiring is wrong already.. Can post a good closeup picture on your wiring?
  11. I guess that the voltage of your batt1 and batt2 are different(usually the case), thus giving out uneven positive and negative volatge. That's why it's better to at least use matched resistors to divide the voltage.
  12. THe PPA don't have coupling caps, so it's has a wide frequency range, plenty of bass without the boost. Unless you're like me who wants to artificially enhanced bass on some music, but it's no hifi. Since you're considering the PPA with onboard batteries, is Headsave supplying the power supply for charging the batteries? Coz it's mostl ikely going to use unconventional DC voltage which are not available from the shelf, unless you get someone to diy one.
  13. RS comp charge $7 for order less than $100. But for Farnell, I think they charge some delivery for orders less than $50..
  14. Thanks Rameish. Guess I'll stick to Farnell Trade counter coz it's nearer than SLT for me case.
  15. Does Federal charge a fee for getting stuff from RS and Farnell? I know B & Lee at 3rd storey does charge a fee for ordering from Farnell.
  16. Ya, also heard of infrasonic being experimented as a possible weapon during WW2. Suppose cause our internal organs to resonate thus the naseauting effect.
  17. And age.. Before entering the IQ quiz, you're asked for your age, this affectss the score drastically if you key a younger age.
  18. I'll never be as smart as the youngers members here. Hint hint.. on ways to cheat.
  19. Only 3 legs? Then you can only control one channel. You should have gotten dual gang, log scale type.. Farnell has some good and price reasonably well(i.e. less than Alps) pots. Try this for stock numbers, 3068316 - Vishay Cermet Pot. Cermet pots are suppose to sound better than carbon pots, like the alp blue. Linear pot though, but can law fake with a 2K resistor. 3071273 or 3071157 - Both similar 10K log pots, only the shaft is different. Cheaper than the vishay.
  20. Yah, you can go down their trade counter. Just give them the stock number. And if you have a student card, you're entitled to 10% discount. To check the stock number, you can flip thru the catalogue at the Farnell trade counter, or via internet.
  21. One 9 volt, you need at least two identical resistor to divide the voltage. Something like this from Headwize site. R2 & R3 are the voltage divider.
