  1. Hmm... Headphones Vs IEMS... I started off with using earbuds, then IEMS (tried a few) and am using headphones now in my portable rig. Earbuds and IEMs are low profile, take up only very little space in the bag or can even just put them in the pocket! You also get pretty good isolation with IEMs. However, removing can be a hassle-can't just yank it out, ouch! but i disgress. Despite all these pros, i switched over to a headphone. Comparing the Shure E4 and Etymotic ER4s to the Sennheiser HD25, the SQ of the latter is so far ahead. Pricewise, in Singapore, the retail of the Shure is in the lower regions of $400-$500 while the Etymotics is in the upper regions. The HD25 is a fair bit less than $400. Isolation wise in the train , the HD25 is quite OK. Keeping to normal listening levels that i use at home, vocals still come through OK though some of the bass is lost. But then, comparatively, IEMs only isolate slightly better. Factoring in the SQ differences of both and i would say they are comparable for use in a noisy environment. But if you boost the volume, then the odds will be tilted towards the HD25. I also use a portable rig in less noisy places like in the library. That is when the HD25 is so much better than the E4 or ER4. Really immerse myself in the music. No rolled-off treble or bass. The sound is just natural. Of course, the cons of a headphone are that it takes up more space in the bag, though i don't see that as much of a problem if one carries a Crumpler . Your hair-do may be messed up by the head-band, well, bring a comb around! Not as low profile as an IEM when worn- you will get used to this psychological barrier

  9. Anyone knows where i can audition/ purchase this amp in Singapore? Would like to hear from those who have tried this Links: Help needed for speaker setup Looking for cheap wires
  10. Personally i use the Belden 1860a for my speaker cables. Last i bought was S$2.50 /m from LHS@slt. Cables are a bit stiff though due to the thick copper conductor.
  11. Maybe can try to specify the type of cables you are looking for? Eg: 1) Interconnects- used from computer to woofer(built in amp) 2) Speaker cables-used from the woofer(built in amp) to the satellites
  12. Curious to know how they would compare with Belden 1860a or 1810a?
  13. Currently, Bluetin is selling for S$173 They also sell Audio Technica A900 Earpad single at S$19. Bluetin Prices Asking for S$80 or best offer.
  14. I think its not worth it too. iShuffle = $118(512MB) USB to Dock = $35 + $25 = $60. Already half price of the iShuffle. Unless user is planning to get an ipod video in future, so that the usb>dock can use with the traveller charger. Any idea if this USB-line out adapter can be used for other flash based MP3 players from Creative or iRiver etc?
  15. Good Starter Headphone. When i got it new from Retro was around S$160. Comes with box and 1/4 to 1/8 plugs . No scratches as they are in the box most of the time-only the pads are worn but are easily replaceable from Stereo at S$28 per pair. This is a Made-in-Japan pair of headphones, as is written at the back of the package that comes with it. The impedance of 64Ω will mean that amps are not necessary- can be driven by portable players. Personally i used to have it for gaming and watching of movies on my computer as it is easily powered by my onboard computer soundcard and by nature of its closed design, provides some isolation from external noise which provides a more immersive experience. Selling for S$80 or best offer- PM me.
  16. PMs replied. Comes with box and 1/4 to 1/8 plugs . Also has receipt from Retrospective. Audiocubes Review Local Opinion Still for sale.
