    HPDAC

Ha ha mouz. Quite right. Want to clear my projects and so can get ready for the coming Amb DAC. I haven't AB'ed the HPDAC with the AlienDAC yet but after burning in abt 50 hours, it does sound much better than my memory of the AlienDAC, quite close in fact to the Monica, which uses the TDA1545 DAC chip. What I like about this is that it gets its power from the USB. I hate batteries, esp 9V ones.

    HPDAC

Have kept this pcb for almost 2 years, due to some chips were difficult to get for a long time. These were the power supply chips which converted the USB power to a much higher voltage and then regulate the power. So here you are, not cased yet. A HPDAC, PCM2707 (USB receiver/DAC) which outputs to a TDA1543 (non over-sampling DAC) for the actual Digital to Analog Conversion. The analog signal is then passed to the headamp section which is based on the PINT. If interested, you can read the details here. Unfortunately, the pcb is not sold any longer. The volume pot is off the pcb because it is not the specified pot and the pin-outs do not match. I can't find Panasonic pots here in SG.
  3. Well, if you want to advertise, then post up to 50 times and you can post WTS without problems. But do it in the Classifieds. It is a very nice cable. As I have said, it's beautiful.
  4. That's a loaded question. If he says yes, then he is soliciting for business, which is not allowed in this forum.
  5. It's not clear from the post if you made it yourself but since this is DIY forum, you must meant you made it yourself. Very nicely done cable. Quite beautiful, actually, for DIY.
  6. I use the ZeroDac and can hear noises too. So not just the internal amp.
  7. Thanks man. I am not familiar with ebay so never thought of it. Hmmm.... looks affordable.
  8. Well CK, what I don't know won't hurt me. I will probably choke when I find out the price. I didn't know these are considered high end and are ex. Thanks for telling me. Oops I better siam.
  9. As the title says, anyone know a vendor selling these caps in SG? TIA.
  10. I think this thread has outlived its purpose as a MO announcement and management. You are posting as a dealer and so please close this thread and do your business using ads and PMs. We don't need to know your arrangements. Thanks.
  11. Upper Paya Lebar, near former Diamond Industry building. 5 mins by car, not walking.
  12. Thanks Cloud. Didn't know about Silicon Electronics. I asked many shops in SLT in the past. Anyway, nowadays I don't have time during office hours to go down. My office is just 5 mins from Farnell.
  13. Just plain forgot to order lah. Ah pek already, brain probably 3/4 dead. Got the shopping cart all filled up but checking it again to make sure no mistake b'cos 1/8W resistors only can get from Farnell. If miss out one, then die because 10 resistors less than $1 and minimum Farnell order is $10. And so got to be very sure before I checkout the cart.
  14. Thanks for the encouragement! The projects between me and the Bijou - 1. HPDAC - DAC plus headamp totally powered by USB, parts assembled and ready for soldering 2. e12 - delay relay for SOHA to protect headphones - parts ready, waiting for time to solder 3. JISBO - output buffers for SOHA - waiting for parts 4. Case the SOHA (inc e12 and JISBO) 5. Case CKIII already built with a selector to act as pre-amp Sitting with my Bijou kit is a amp5 and a amp6 kits. I keep telling myself. No more kits until I finish them all. The elders in my youth would say "my eyes is bigger than my stomach" (mak chew tua kway tor), ie. I think I can do all these projects when reality is I don't have the time.

    MS1

I believe you can audition the MS1 in both Stereo Electronics in Causeway Point and also Jaben in Adelphi.
  17. Try Wells Audio in Burlington Square. They have many different chasis. Owner is a bit of a pain but just don't take him too seriously.
  18. audiophile (google for Ohno Continuous Casting or OCC)
  19. New phones from CEC. I wonder any chance of listening to them in SG. http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-16506...+the+HP-53.html
  20. Elvis As in "Elvis has left the building..." Never heard of it? Oops sorry, wrong generation.
  21. outdoor, You are so humble to call it a "humble" mod. Nice woodies, I presumed you did it yourself? How did you do the woodwork? peter, C'mon, share how you did your mod, there are others who are interested in following the path you have made.
  22. Maybe the lesson for me will be...... don't go into tube rolling! MUST PRESERVE WALLET!! My Bijou kit is still in its box. No time, like loop_ I am wondering when I can find the time.
  23. Double post. Already posted in Portable forum -- MOD
  24. Before you do what dragon has said, check if you have similar problem with other players/source. It can also be the socket of your player. For example, if you have been using a cheap pair of phones with a plug which is just slightly larger. Over time the contacts in the socket will be bent out. Now with the precise size plug, it will have bad contact. Give it a try and see which is the problem.
