  1. Looks quite fragile and might break easily?
  2. Silica gel itself is completely harmless, but the cobalt (II) chloride or other indicators used are toxic.
  3. $35? How old, any receipt?
  4. Images work here Nakedtoes, maybe you can try the links: 1 2.

    Koss KSC75

Mind sharing how much you got it for?
  6. It isn't ready yet and it's not an amp, but rather a kit with all the parts that you need to assemble the amp. You'll still have to assemble it yourself.
  7. Just the amp to display? Why not the cans too?
  8. Sharp HP-MD33 and Panasonic RP-HJE50 are two other earphones that have the short cord. The E888MP/SP is the short cord version of the E888. You probably can't use the Sharps directly from the short cord since it's a four poles plug unless you use a Sharp MD player. P.S.: Oh yes, the Audio-Technica CM5/CM7/CM7Ti also come with a pretty short cable + extension, so you might want to consider those too.

  12. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a rock orchestra (whatever that is ). There's rock influences (drums, guitars) though it still retains elements of classical. Some tracks have lyrics, others don't. I feel it's more rock than classical. It's a pretty fresh way of looking at classical. Great for listening if you're bored with "conventional" classical. Here's the biography of the orchestra, if you want a look: http://www.trans-siberian.com/history/biography.shtml.

  14. You might want the SportaPros. They have the same drivers as the PortaPros and its headband folds down too.
  15. Let's see: -Sharp MD33 ($63 at bluetin) ==Getting favourable reviews at head-fi ATM. Shaped much like EX71. -Panasonic HJE502 ($59 at teamdigital) ==Again, another EX71 look-alike. -Sony E888 ($72 for LP version) ==Some people have complaints of short lifespan too. Sounds quite different from the EX71 reputedly. -A-T ATH-CM5 ($77) ==Should be quite comfortable. -Sennheiser MX500 ($30+) ==Uncomfortable for some — too big.

    Mac

Most people prefer Safari because it's faster, nicer looking, doesn't have spyware etc. But some sites (e.g. e-banking) only work with IE.

    MDR-81SL

The EX81 looks interesting; does it replace the EX71 line completely? Someone must get the MDR-EXQ1, the Qualia brother of the N.U.D.E. series and compare to see if it's worth the US$150 difference
  18. BWV - Bachwerkeverzeichnis It is a thematic catalog of all of J.S. Bach's works. You can download it here or search it here.

    Ambient music

The Café del Mar series and Hôtel Costes series are recommended ; likewise Brian Eno (a pioneer of this genre) and Aphex Twin. Other than that, Ambient-nights.org is a good site to get mixes of ambient music. BTW: iTunes retrieves the artist and title too for most stations, doesn't it?
  20. Off-topic: Is the Chaintech AV710 sold in Singapore?
  21. 3. Some major labels have CD copy protection. EMI has Cactus Data Shield, Sony had (Sony has stopped copy control ) Key2Audio. How to circumvent the copy protection? Rip the original CD, so that there isn't any protection Other common CD copy protection schemes are Doc.loc, MediaCloq and SafeAudio. Some CD-RW and DVD drives are able to rip these CDs without any problems.
  22. Pre-recorded cartridges and cassettes, newspapers, books and magazines, films, video tapes/discs, laser discs, CD-ROM and video games are under controlled goods. You have to declare them and get an import license/etc.
  23. It is kinda impossible to arrest each and every one, and would it be worth their effort? What would they achieve? A small dent in the local piracy market?
