actually the equinox was not that disfavorably reviewed. quite a few people like it. many have said in comparison to the mobius and silver dragon it is the most balanced cable. my decision was based on price and convenience in part - it was cheaper (and on sale to boot) and i bought it from the same place (toddthevinyljunkie) as the amp and headphones - and in part on the fact that it was well reviewed overall and many people found it to be the most balanced of all the cables.

i just got the hd650 and sr-71 last week; i have a stefan audio arts equinox cable coming in a few weeks (it's out of stock). so far the hd650 and sr-71 are very much to my liking.

speaking of cui jian, today i got my sennheiser hd650 headphones and ray samuels audio emmeline sr-71 headphone amp. the first thing i listened to is cui jian's power of the powerless (the u.s. version published on world beat records - which is the version to get, any other version is terrible). damn this album ROCKS on the hd650 powered by the sr-71. totally kick ass!. my hd650 is powered by a ray samuels audio emmeline sr-71 (i shall be getting a stefan audio arts equinox sennheiser cable soon). i hope to go see ye li in beijing sometime in the coming months; hopefully i will leave with a ta 8pr!

somewhat similar pronunciation. it is chinese pinyin: niu = cow, bi = vagina. in beijing slang this word means VERY cool. yes, it is a headphone amp. a friend of mine in beijing has one that Ye Li built for him. my friend though has hd600. below is a large photo of my friend's ye li ta 8pr:

obviously not, but the various replacement cables have been widely reviewed online on various headphone forums, so we can have some idea how they might match with the hd650. considering that the connector is shared by many headphones, i doubt there will be some major change in the existing upgrade cables specifically for hd650. i wonder the same for amps that were designed specifically around the hd600. its not likely to change any current amps. because i am thinking about getting the hd650, i wonder how Ye Li's ta 8pr matches with it considering it was built around the hd600 (with the notion of making the hd600 sound as close to the orpheus as possible in Ye Li's memory of listening to the orpheus).
