  1. I got IM716 but never have chance to listen C700... sorry.
  2. if you can get Atrios, maybe it is the safe bet fom what I read. But if you want to have IM716, try mod it with kimawe 27ohm... SQ better than unmodded with better bass response as well...
  3. Geez... it is absolutely a bargain... Thx for ur effort mouz.....
  4. hmm... KSC75 modded and recabled is hard to beat by the IEM with the same value...
  5. Geez... the panels looks nice... now just need a finishing touch.... Actually even the clear acrylics... the looks is not bad at all.... The wording looks really tidy and nice design as well...
  6. I'm sure that this project not only take quite a bit of ur time, but actually it takes alot if you sum up the time that you use to think about this as well... THanks so much mouz....
  7. mylar XB? However I like my IM716 modded for dance though...
  8. Very nice... Looking at that... Guys, how about if possible to use clear, and have paint or whatever done to other part except the wording so that when the switch is on, than the LED will lit the wording from inside. By doing so, no need to have hole for the LED.... like the mobile phone key pad.... will looks nice especially at night...lol. Just some crazy idea..... And for the scratch protection, the clear coat like for modelling or even the car paint is one of the idea... apart from that, we can easily apply a plastic protector... like some plastic protector for the mobile screen or the Ipod. Than this plastic will be easily replaced once it got a lot of scratch. The downside of clear coat is just when it get scratch, you have to re-paint it. And also, it will looks glossy... I guess that what you guys want to avoid....
  9. nice design... simple, clean but looks profesional build..... n the most important.... its the trade mark of the effort made by Sgheadphones community....
  10. 40US + shipping can endup 50US.... dunno if it still worth since it means, the casing itself might be more expensive than the board, but of course it will looks pro builded..... But frankly... the mini3 thread here getting more interesting day by day....
  11. Hi Guys.... Pardon me if I don't know the situation of this panel, just sharing different thought of how to make casing of this mini3 looks nice.... and I'm thinking of if we cannot get the front and back pannel engraved as those one, how about if we just use the plastick pannel come with hammond, drilled it accordingly to the requirement without engrave, and to make it nice, just have a plate of alumnium (very thin one), engraved it with beautiful font... and place it on the top of the casing (black hammond will looks better).... I think this will makes more minimalist on the front panel and also decorate the top part of the hammond casing (which I like it). you can use those plate to tell "in", "out" which you can put it in the very end of the plate and line up vertically with the corresponding item... Just thinking of an idea... actually I'm agreed on the pre-drilled panel since that's very difficult without proper tool.
  12. hmmm.... Actually, what I like is more like, if I seat in a performance choir or orchestra, I always prefer to sit in middle row to front row, instead of middle to back row... is this the meaning that I like forward sound instead of laid back?
  13. Just wondering how does it sound pimeta with OPA637 and Buf 634 compare to high performance Mini3..... Does anybody know? And does pimeta or mini3 have synergy with my IM716 and HD595 ?
  14. Guys, just wondering if you can recommend me porty amp mostly will be used with IM716, but sometime at home will be used with HD595 as well. Budget let say around US$ 100. I not really care whether it is DIY or comercial as long as it does sounds good, and portable and fit my budget it would be great. Thx guys.
  15. If you are asking about what if you lose if you choose IEM over Headphone... I'm thinking of the SQ is different. The Headphone will sound fuller and big IMO. While if you want to get the same SQ for IEM, you should pay more money. However, I;m new to IEM too as my previous always full size, and don't believe that small things can sound good and choose to stick with my Ipod Earbud. But than, just coincidence found EC7 cheap...and it starts my portable rig advantures.... IEM for me have the advantage of the isolation and because of that... the sound is so intimate.... the detail is good normally. As for you... good clarity... I like my IM716. Modded... it have good, deep and texturize bass as well which is good for me, but for punchy... I doubt about this. Comfort will dependance on ur ear shape... I found good comfort using the fomies. Even the triflange I can use for 3-4 hrs straight....
  16. ur music categorize looks similar with mine..... I;m listening to jazz, classic, choir, pop, classic rock a bit... and from the suggestion from many others and head-fi... I'm go with modded IM716. Now my IM716 is still being modded, so if you want, I can post my impression for choir, piano solo, and jazz.... But I don't think that they will give thumping bass....which i can tolerate instead of rolled off high and bottom...
  17. agree, IEM might be the best choice soundwise. Maylar X3 got a glowing review, and it is below ur budget I think. But I cannot comment on it since I don't have it... EC7 is also a good buy if you can find it within ur budget (second hand), the clarity is good, the soundstage is not bad for bud, the bass is the weakness of this bud. It is there, accurate, but lack of "fun" factor. As for classical or jazz... for portable where the surounding noise is presence, it would be enough for me.
  18. hmmmm.... now i'm leaning towards V5.....Is rolling the op-amp is the option to suite for both? i.e. EC7 with op-amp A and HD595 with op-amp B?
  19. Hi Guys, I need advice on whether to get Go-Vibe V5 or PA2V2 to be match with ATH-EC7 and HD595 if I can get almost the same price for V5 used and PA new. Well, I just bought the ATH a week ago, and while I like the mid and high, but it lack of bass. It is there, but sometime, I just want to have a little bit more and deeper. But well, I cannot complaining about the earbud, but maybe there is someway to improve it, because now I'm away for several months, and have to seperate with my HD595 and some home system, and have to relay on my nano and the ATH. Anyway, can you please tell me how the EC7 will be if I put amp on it? is it will be much better or not improve that much? and how about the HD595 as well? Thx guys. Geez, I never able to leave this forum. When I got assign to go for projects, I'm suddently eyeing on the EC7 and luckly, someone selling the used, one almost never been used before for cheap... no second thought...Grab it and now it is screaming for amp.... not cheap anymore then.

    DT440

can anybody give comments on how DT440 sounds like / its performance compare to other cans with similar price? and what the meaning of groovalizer? Thinking of getting one of these cans to upgrade from my DT231 and also Lini from headfi recommend them, and need no amps. seems interesting... and which one is more worth to get....DT440 or DTX900 for around half price of DT440? Thanks

    AKG K240S

btw does anybody know how much the price of akg 240 in singapore?
  22. wow... if you means that forward is like we are very near to the performer...then it is not good for me. When I'm listening to the real concert... I always avoid to sit near the stage.... I prefer to sit at the center back.... if it is what you mean with laid back...than I prefer laid back sound instead of forward sound. hmmm... I will listen again whether the sound of my cans is veiled or not, but it may be because of not burn in yet.... well... lets wait for a while... who knows it will be like my piano... when it is new, the sounds is like damped, or maybe this is what you called vailed, but after a while, it is not like that anymore.... hope the same thing happen with this cans, and it would be very nice. thanks lekguan for your advice.... I must remember your warning...
  23. hmmm.... if that is the purpose of burning in... it means, it is the same process as I bought my new piano... need 1 year of regular usage before the true sounds appear. Btw lekguan... just checking if I'm understand correctly.... what do you mean with laidback sound is if the sound of the phone is more like if you listen from the back stage and forward sound is if it more like if you listent from the front side of the stage.... is that right? Sometimes I get confuse, coz, if I'm listening my dt 231 in relatively low volume, I always have imagination that I heard the song as I'm in the back stage, but if I give louder volume, everything just fine eventhough if I compare with the stock sony DNE-1 earbut, it still feel like if there is a wall between me and the stage. Btw DT 231 is a semi-closed cans. Btw you are right.... about the never buy because of reviews... I want audition everything before I buy, it just, my condition doesn't allow me to do that. Well, hopefully I can do that in singapore. Btw if this understanding is right... I like forward presenation instead of laid back, I can feel like I was in the concert hall. ok... so at the moment, I will concentrate more on looking amp for my phone and RA-1 is the strongest candidate. Does anybody has idea what sort of amp apart from RA-1 that has forward characteristic? or if I'm not mistaken, I read in the DIY section that for CMOY, the sound is entirely depends on the chip. So in that case, what sort of op-amp that can give forward and a bit more bass characteristic?
  24. lekguan, you do read my preference and my need really well. You are absolutely right. I mostly use the cans while doing homework, browsing the internet, and everything that make me sit in front of my desk. And once again, you are absolutely right about the instrumental collection. Half of my collection is instrumental, and normally I use this while I'm doing my homework....coz it makes me feel relax, and peacefully. hmm... in that case, it seems that grado is not a good option for me, and I think, I will stick with bayer line. Regarding to the DT 431, I saw sometimes it was sold in ebay for around s$100-120, but since I can't try first and lack of review about its performance, I bougth DT 231 which is available in the shop. What do you think? is it worth S$100-120 for DT 431 ? Hmmm.... DT 231 with more bass (hopefully just a bit more bass since I think the bass in DT 231 is good enaugh for me, just a bit more bass is better) and slightly forward??....it would be perfect... I think that what I want to improve from my DT 231. I don't know about the midrange, darkness, detail or dynamics, since this is my first good listening experience, what I know is just, I prefer the sound slightly forward. After reading your advise, I think, I'm prefer to get an amp instead of upgrading my phone. I will wait until I arrive in singapore and audition grados and RA-1, after that, if it is what I'm looking for, then I might get the RA-1 clone. especially if it can give a fair improvement to my cans. Btw, if we talk about amp... do you know what other DIY amp that is good enaugh to drive the bayer apart from RA-1 clone? Sometimes, after I read tangen's website, and my friend give me a design of cmoy with built in cross feed, I want to build it by myself... but I don't know the performance of this amp... do you have any idea about that? Another question.... how to burn in my cans properly?... so far, I just use it with normal listening volume, with my song collection at about 20 hours.... But if I need to give more bass to burn in my cans better... what I can do is just using the bass boost function of my DNE-1... any other idea? Thanks... really appreciate your advise.
  25. Hi lekguan, I think I read in this forum that you own/owned (forget about the date) DT 431. So what do you think the performance of DT 431 compare to D66, DT 231 and SR 60? Hmm... do you think DT 231 is already good enaugh and having an amp is more important than upgrading the phone itself? I don't know how much the clone of RA-1 will improve my DT 231, but if it can improve my phone so that it sounds better than D66 or SR 60, this is might be a good idea at the moment coz I'm only need 1 headphone at home, eventhough if I have spare cash in the future, I don't mind upgrading my headphone also. Thanks for your advice.
