  1. My favourite Mid end hi-fi home system (approx S$4,000 - S$4,500) Consonance 1.1 24/196 upsampled ($800) Sugden Headmaster ($1,400) Sennheiser HD600 ($450) Stefan Audioart Equinox Cable ($350) Kimber Select KS1030 ($1,300) or Polaris Wireworld III ($500) One of my favourite mid high end setup. However it only does wonders on certain type of music, i.e. New Age, Vocals and Jazz. One thing this setup lack is the bottom end. It does not go low enough and lack the slam for certain type of Jazz music. I would certainly say that this is a very polite setup. If one is looking for a very smooth and relaxed presentation, this would be the one. By using the Polaris Wireworld III interconncect, you will lose out certain details but not too much and slightly less "air" in its presentation. Pros: midrange is very smooth here. Cons: may lack the bottom end or slam on certain types of music or recording.

  3. You may wish to consider a replacement cable for your HD600.
  4. Hmmm interesting... So who's biting ?
  5. The DT931 does suffer when it comes to rock due to its slow speed. A pair of Grados will be much better in this genre IMHO. Try using a 120 ohm adapter, it will give the DT931 a little more weight and a little less glaring in the sonic signature.
  6. Another head-fi flavour of the month?

    HD650

I am not too sure regarding the cmoy as I have not heard it before. Can't help you much with the HD580 and the HD650, since I don't own the HD580. For the difference between the HD600 and the HD650 I guess there as some posts regarding this. Maybe you can do a search.

    HD650

Try a grado RA1 clone. It drives the HD650 quite decently
  9. Anyway I have tried many amps with the DT931. So far only the Corda line of amps seems to drive the DT931 to my satisfaction out of the 120 Ohm output. By the way you need a 120 ohm adapter for the DT931.

    HD650

Can we keep this thread on HD650 only. Mods thread split please.
  11. Interesting.... so on which exact day the new format will be rolled out?

    HD650

Anyway back on the topic of HD650. I have dug through all my e-mails with Jan Meier and found that it costs : 350 Euros or 385 USD. The prices includes shipping.
  13. Hey extremecans, one thing for sure, you got the synergy rght. The HD600 is dark sounding and the X-cans V3 is bright sounding. Happy tube rolling.
  14. That is why I never buy things from Hung Brothers, I rather buy it from Jan Meier and it may cost more. I prefer to put them out of business.

    HD650

I can verify the price. They also told me that normal retail price of the 650 is around $800+. And first ten units selling at around $700 I think. HD600 they mentioned that selling at $450. Organise a power buy from Jan Meier and get a much better deal man... $800 is way too mcuh
  16. open vs closed hehehe... No way... In general, open cans sounds better than closed cans except for the CD3k which I have heard sounds ok.

    HD650

THe HD600 was using the Oelhbach replacement cable. i've heard that cable can actually be bad for the 650's The HD650 will sound very thick and slow with the Oehlbach cable. However once the HD650 is burnt in (500hrs) it does sound pretty ok.

    AKG K1000 !

    HD650

$800!!!!???? the last time someone else checked the price it was about $550. I guess it is cheaper to order it from Jan Meier. My pair was bought from Jan Meier and it cost about $750 including paypal charges and shipping! The HD600 replacement cables does fit on the HD650.

    HD650

If I am not wrong the HD650 from Hung costs $550. You are right regarding the Hd600 and the HD650. Both of them are very different in nature. As I have said before if you are expecting the HD650 to be an improvment over the HD600, you will be disappointed. BTW, I kept my HD600 even after I bought the HD650. Hope that answer your question extremecans.
