Looks like you guys had a day of fun again, oddly enough I didn't get a chance to sample the sound of the sudgen amp during the meet. Sorry for this side track : Mackie, how did you find Fishball's mini to mini? any impressions?? Rameish, is it possible to drop by your place when I'm in town next? Hey Mat, PM me as well....

  10. Same place same time at the SPGG.
  11. Same here for the Sudgen. Anyone had a listen with RKV? IMHO, the 501 sounded a little bit hard on the RKV. But I've heard it on the following Cyrus combo - Cyrus 7 amp + CD7Q + PSX-R + Taralabs One IC - simply musical with a massive soundstage and I was only testing it with a ripped MP3 128bit to wav CD! Hey headphonecrazy, any chance of having a listen during the weekend? Anyway getting back on track, I had the rare chance of trying out Oakie 501 on my setup. Since my setup is quite bass shy, there wasn't any trace of bass. On classical or acoustic pieces, it sounded pretty impressive. The sound was very airy but for on vocals, it sounded pretty thin. Howver certain classical pieces, you need to have that "kick" and hence I would still prefer the HD600 or the DT931. For the HD600, IMHO the music would sound like you are sitting between the middle row and the back. While for the DT931, you are in the front seats, IMHO as well.

  13. I use the HD590 for gaming
  14. Yup, we know the Emmerline HR2 is an amp. We were just listing down the items we hoped to see in the coming meet. In headfi, it seems like the HR2 is the amp to go with the R10 Justin BTW, anyway to obtain the HP1000 in the states?
  15. IMO, the Grado HP-1000 series.. Find me a pair and I will let you know. Get the Sony R10 one can for all. Well hopefully we will see the following stuffs at the next meet: HP1000 HP1 R10 Emmerline HR2 Then we will know if one pair of cans can rule them all
  16. IMO, the Grado HP-1000 series.. Find me a pair and I will let you know.
  17. Dun be too sure alrite... If the right person comes along, you never know....
  18. I guess certain type of music is more enjoyable when laid back. I listen to lots of new age and female vocals. To sum it all it I like my music relaxing, soothing and smooth and hence the purchase of the Sudgen and the HD600 Equinox. The setup which I prefered most is of course the Cyrus, KS1030, RKV mkii, RS1. With this setup, the bass is second to none of the setup I have ever heard. The bass is tight and defined with lots of slam. Not to mention the massive sound stage this setup throws. The only thing which maybe lacking in the system may be the treble extention. I did not have much of a chance to play any tracks with piano with the RS1. Based on my memory, the HD600 with equinox on this setup did not have a good treble extention. That is based on my opinion... However, when you are enjoying your music, some things just do not appear in the equation. Everyone has different piorities in how their system should sound. The most basic requirement for me is the mid range, it must be warm and lush. If the system fullfill this requirement, then I will move on to the highs end of the sound, i.e. the treble, the extentions, the decays, a nice twinkle to the piano notes etc etc. Last but not least it should have bass, it has to be tight and defined. I love Rameish approach, using different cans to suit different music or different mood. Let's say I am feeling a bit tensed today, my choice would be the HD600 or let's say I am in a mood to head bang, my choice would be definately a pair of Grados. To sum it all up it is impossible to have a pair of cans for all music. No one pair of cans to rule them all.
