  1. Hi Todd! Thanks for joining the forum and also for the halfprice discount on shipping! Yes, most of the members here are from Singapore but a couple of us are from elsewhere, Australia, Brunei, China, Japan, etc. Thanks again and bump for an exclusive discount!
  2. I need to buy the above opamps for renewing my love for the supermacro. Anyone willing to sell and mail over to tokyo? It's real difficult to get hold of them here. Anyone?? Best rgds, idkfa
  3. A couple of hundreds?? You do mean the price difference for the academic to the retail version ye? May I ask if they are for your personal use or commercialised use?
  4. Hello, they costs about SGD$240+-
  5. humm...Victor DX1000? Sony Qualia? Ath-L3000? Sony SA5000? I am not sure about how much other phones retail in singapore but those who are interested to go for the difference in cost, do find out, let me know and then I find out how much cheaper they are here. Alternatively you can ask me to buy hentai comics. Super LOL.
  6. Thanks for the advices and encouragement, bpribadi! I really thought I screwed that rainbow pic up cos the colors looked too desaturated. I try not to photoshop the colors too much and want to keep them as natural as possible. Well, from the "ego boost", here is another one picture that I kinda like. I wished I had a wide angle for this shot. p.s. a mouse?? lol. I would sure like to get a pet sometimes soon!
  7. I might be free in the later part of October and am willing to help out those interested in japanese make ear/headphones. Meanwhile also will consider doing another group buy for the Sharp MD-33s. Those interested just reply or drop me a PM. Best rgds from godzilla land,
  8. Sorry my bad. It's in USD$. I wrote to Todd from TR Audio asking for a little discount for the members of this forum and hopfully something good can happen!
  9. Hello all, Just wanna recommend this online seller, Todd from TR Audio TR Audio. I recently bought a Cardas HPI Mini to Mini cable from him. Really great communication and prompt email replies. For those who are concerned about costly shippings, I'm glad to say that TR Audio is shipping the $14.00 cables for only $1.92! Took about a week to reach me in tokyo.

    Paypal

I guess it's a matter of luck. It's never safe if the credit card numbers go online. Hackers just have the means. Hijacking, stealing and whatsoever. But I just make sure that I go visit the accounts often to see if anything weird goes on. But generally it's safe I guess.
  11. Thanks for the compliment! But the colors looked real bad. Where should I meter in the picture? Btw, here's another interesting shot. LOL
  12. I'm not really good in photography but I really like this shot I took last week on a trip to Nikko, north of tokyo. Shot with cheap DSC-T1. Can't get much controls over the camera but still okay I thought. Anyone good with landscape photography can give me some tips? I am considering getting a Ricoh Digital GR for pursuing this photography hobby. Looks darn retrol cool isnt it? Ricoh Digital GR
  13. No difference technically. You get the same program. But you get additional support from Adobe if you get the originals and you also qualify for upgrades of course. Do not risk buying pirated versions if you are using them for commercialised editing works. ie, company. I don't recommend pirated versions for obvious reasons. Alternatively if you have a student friend, you can get the academic versions for way less the price.
  14. And later when you get a $2K headphone, you'll crap the $1K one. LOL.

    Ferrite clamps

I remembered seeing a thread on Head-Fi regarding clamps on headphone cables. Some guys said that they got less hiss from Shure E5c and also "better" sounding ER-4s. I did try them out but nothing significant. Maybe even nothing. Just try it yourself and "see" how it sounds then.
  16. Golden rule is always ask to test before buying. If you are asking about how it sounds, maybe can read up Head-Fi? I searched with the keyword "HD497" and tons of info came up. Even mods for it. Go chk it up and gd luck with you purchase! http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread....highlight=HD497
  17. Now we're going really far out. 200K or 20K, I doubt no singapore in the right mind would even want to pay $50 for a pair of earphones. I even heard friends who brag about their $999 "hi-fi" kenwood/pioneer systems. For people like remeish, he's lucky to be able to appreciate and experience the luxury of audiophiling. I wish I have that kinda money... I do agree that once you hear the "good" stuffs, it's hard to turn back. He's idea is pretty sound. It's a good idea to try out for a month and then compare it with a "cheaper" ones. But it's the difficult plunge of buying one usually. LOL. Expectations are doubled when they costs $50 more. And we find excuses to justify this and that. *sigh. I think blind tests and without know the price of an item is still the best way. No prejudice and expectations. Just a question, how far out can we get as the discerning audiophile? Those 50~200K systems? How much more can I expect or should expect? I have had my share of experiencing pro/consumer based expensive stuffs here to justify the reasons for audiophiling, but I would like to know what more can I expect? Really look forward to "re-wowing" myself.
  18. I believe the problem most ppl are facing when jumping on the audiophile bandwagon is that they "expect" the expensive or "branded" headphones/equipment to wow and justify them. I was such a fool then. Thinking that i will hear something "dramatic" when I first had my Shure E5c. I only know how to put cds and press play. That's all I knew about music. But it all came down clear to me when my gf listened to my E5c cos I was complaining that I paid so much for such little differences. But she, who studied and performed in a classical band, knew the differences right away. What I perceived as piano, flute, percussion...etc were just perceived piano piano piano. Not even knowing how real pianos really sounded like. That, was me, the layman and the perceiver and the I think I know it all person. The "I think the jaguar is a powerful car cos I sat in one today." person. I say that those who studied music, or played in a classical band, or any instrunments, WILL know the difference immediately as compared to those who has never played or even attempted any serious study on music. Dying to find out what REAL soundstaging, decay, instrumental signatures...etc are like, I started going to classicals concerts(sat in the front, middle, back, top, side), acoustic performances, even picked up piano lesson. All because I think I should know what REAL musical associations are, before I started commenting based on my feeble hearing and stereotyped perception. And reading up head-fi too often is bad bad bad. You don't actually learn, you can only read and that is not good. It's like saying certain cars are bad when you sat in all of them but didn't get to drive them and find out yourself. If a picture is worth a thousand words, isn't an experience is worth a thousand pictures. See my point? And lastly, chose equipment to suit your taste of music, not buying them and finding music to bring out the equipment. Having expensive equipment does not qualify you as an expert too. LOL. My humble opinion. Peace, P.S. Answering to the first post, Pearl Jam has a binaural recording. I forgot the album title, sorry.
  19. I agree too that it's sufficient for me. I don't see a need to change the boards unnecessarily. But I would love to get some enhancements in the Private Mailings. Other than that, everything is cool. And thanks Ablaze, for keeping this site up.
  20. Well, good point there. Apple can still take a gamble. They are already making big money ever since steve jobs, ceo of apple returned and restructured the company. But they want more more more. I can tell you all about their evil marketing tactics on the ibook/powerbooks. LOL. But I guess Apple will always be the Apple. Creative is already losing money big time. And the MP3 industry is only helping a little. Gone are those days where ppl are dying for a creative sb16. Now with the cheap onboard soundcards that sounds nothing short of good, there are simply no demands for creative cards anymore. Not everyone needs audigy or emu these days. Except for the prosumers but they only constitute to such a small percentage of sales... Creative should reposition themselves to really make a bigger impact. Look what newcomer iRiver has done. That is one worthy of a fight and definitely inbetween Apple and Creative. Great Form & Great Function. We just need creative to sponsor Nascars. LOL.
  21. Gosh~ Grado Labs, Todd The Vinyl Junkie, and Head-Fi are making special limited edition Grados for Head-fi for USD$200. All 250 pcs of them and marked. Need to call and reserve. Madness. This is so cool. D:DD http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread....75&page=1&pp=20
  22. I am not really agree with u. Please compare to creative, how many models & design they have??? I am not against creative (I do owned one also) but they have too many models to choose from compare to Ipod or other brand. I understand with where you are seeing from. If I may say in my own opinion, Apple is selling a lifestyle, a mentality, a philosophy. etc. whereas creAtive's products are more mass consumer and "value for dollar" based. But then Apple got big headed and started to market their "lifestyle products" with a mass consumer approach. And that pisses off apple diehards who value their Apple stuffs religiously. Last thing u wanna see is your expensive Apple devalued by another Apple. It's just plain silly how we get such things as "ipod-killers" or "anti-white" accessories... Only years ago, before the imacs/ipods were mass marketed and Apple opened to the general consumer market, they were basically marketed as a pro-consumer and niche product to the creative industry. ie, designers, editors..etc. Now, it's an ipod for you and me and everybody else!!. lol. I guess that no matter how hard the other competitors try, the Apple is always in a different league. You just don't challenge a Bentley with a Hyundai. LOL
  23. Yes I do agree with you that apple products are cool. But the problem is that apple's product has an extremely short design appeal/lifespan. They come out with new stuffs so quick that even the diehard fan feels stupid with the previous model. It's a good marketing ploy for returning consumership but backfires with most who can't afford 2 apples within a year. The imac/ipod 1st gen was a milestone in design only a while ago but I wouldn't want to be seen with it now. The million dollar question is probably how long can the "nano" last till they're replaced. I certainly can't see why they are competing with the "still doing well" ipod mini.
  24. Those boys are "Legends". Can't go wrong with them. I think of all, "Take Five" should be the best and also happens to be my favourite for their works. You can try "Waltz for Debby" & the "Live in Carnegie Hall". Carnegie Hall is woooooooo so good.
