What? Nonsense. To keep it simple, lets say there are two versions of a high end sound card, an internal PCI one and an external USB one. As most of you know, there is a ton of electronic devices inside a modern computer and these all produce some amount of noise. An internal soundcard would be more succeptible to this noise as the signal is transformed from digital to analong inside of the computer. An external soundcard, on the other hand, still has a digital signal as it leaves the computer. This prevents interference from components inside the computer.

Ech, my E500 definitely looks much better. And I personally can't stand the way the universal UEs sit in your ear.

Was it a newly acquired pair? My E500 sounded like that the first week or so I had it. It was only in the second or third week when the sound really started to shine.

There is only one for bassheads: The E5. The UM2 is a little bit more balanced while the 5EB really does make a mess when dealing out bass...

As many have said in this thread, if you don't like the warm sound of the UM2 you should stay away from Shures. With the possible exception of the ancient E1, all Shure cans tend to be very warm and bass heavy. If you're looking for something with delicate sound, I'd reccomend the ER-4 or the ER-6i. The ER-4 can be had quite cheaply if you look around. If you want it more precise go for the 4S otherwise go for the 4P which is smoother.

Hi folks, just got a message today from the seller. The 2GB is now in at 700RMB. They say the 4GB should be in "soon"(in China, that could mean months)

What they're saying is that the EQ work can be done better using an external device.

For outdoor use, I almost always use IEMs(Such as my trusty new E500). I almost never take my full sized cans out of my house. I still think walking around the street with full size headphones makes you look like an idiot.

The iPod does have one but only through the Dock Connector. You'll need a fullsize dock or a Pocketdock to use it.

Thats a very good price, i managed to get mine for around the same. You won't see it much cheaper except for those slightly shifty box-less factory sourced ones.

Take the normal headset that's included, cut off the cable above the mic and solder a 3.5 jack to it? Or if you like, some of the bros here could probably make a very nice cable for it based on the original.

You do take great care even if its just the UM1(no offence). I have the E5 and I just chuck it on my bedside table every night.

The Shure E4G, and all of Shure's G series in fact. They all come with a significantly shorter cord than non-g Shure's.
