  1. Buy for the sake of curiosity. LOL!
  2. Crossroad MylarThree My first time doing a proper review, so pardon me if I'm bad at it, or missing out some details. Equipments used: 1) CD Player - Marantz CD63SE [T.S. Lim mod] 2) Amp - Little Dot 2+ 3) Earphones - Crossroad MylarThree with bi-flanges 4) Default/Cheapo interconnects and power cables Setup: Marantz CD63SE -> Little Dot 2+ -> Crossroad MylarThree with bi-flanges Music: Iron Maiden - A Real Dead One Joe Satriani - The Extremist Mr Big - Greatest Hits Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim - Getz/Gilberto Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Session Skid Row - Slave To The Grind Firstly, my MylarThree has been fully burned in, at 300 or more hours, genre of music used consider of rock, heavy metal, blues, bossa nova and instrumental rock. On with go to the rating system, rating from 0-10, 0 being crap, 10 being freaking awesome. Now to the ratings of this earphones. Sound Quality: Bass: Oh man, I love the bass produced by this earphones, its have the power and punch, yet remain clean and tight, espically shown when listening to fast rock/metal songs. You can hear clearly and accurately the horse thumping drum bass pattern of Iron Maiden. Nothing much to say, but just great and accurate bass, i'm not a basshead per se. Rating: 9.5/10 Mids: Very smooth, detailed and slightly warm. For vocals like in "The Girl From Ipanema", both the male and female vocals, very smooth and accurate listening. On guitar, its have great clarity, like the acoustic guitar on "Wild World and To Be With You", you can hear every notes clearly. Or on Satch's guitar solos, the wailing sound, its woooo! You can even hear the details of the slides after post-solos, you will definetely love it if you like to listen to instrumental rock like Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Neil Zaza, etc... But then I feel that while playing fast rock/metal songs like Iron Maiden ones, it tends to be abit slow, lacking in speed in this section. Overall, the mids is very good espically the clarity, detailed and smoothness to the progression of the music, or some may say musical. Rating: 8.5/10 Highs: I'm using Sebastian Bach's singing in songs like "Wasted Time", when he sings till the high part, around the end of the high note, it doesn't sound very smooth, slightly harsh. Slight shrill and sibilance could be heard at times, when critical listening or people with sensitive ears. Rating: 7/10 Overall I would say this earphones is very detailed, clarity, tight and powerful bass and warm feeling. Cons is the highs as stated. If the source is good, you are good to go, amp it for full potential. Build/Design Quality: Microphonics is present, when you hit the cables you can hear it clearly. Cables are pretty thin, looks like it will break/damage if you pull it with strength. Design-wise, look cheapo and ugly in my opinion. Rating: 5/10 Value: For the price you are paying for this ($65), I really have nothing to complain, I think it will beat all other IEM in its price range with no problem, maybe on par with those one tier higher ones. Rating: 10/10 This is purely my opinion only, it's best that you go down and have an audition with this earphones with your setup. Everyone have different tastes afterall.
  3. Yeah, once I bought my guitar over 1k, sent over by courier company, can't recall which one. There's extra dispersement fee.
  4. Yep on the $400 too. But sometimes marked as gift, also tio GST. Dunno why, last time I help my gf bought the dress is packed in the company package or so.
  5. hmm... I don't have bookshelf speakers yet. But read on some magazines and forums. Normally will recommend, wharfadale, quad 11l and mission 751 for starting out. Then also found out Monitor Audio BR2 is given a very good review for its price. Magazine listed RRP $179 pound.
  6. Sennheiser HD580 + Moon Audio Blue Dragon cable - Main cans for everything Grado SR80 - Substitute Rock/Metal cans, portable. AT A900 - Bossa Nova/Jazz cans AT F55 - Substitute portable. Koss KSC 75 - Portable
  7. AT A900 looks good in your budget for a closed phones. Should be around/less than $250, PM stereo electronics, not sure Jaben carry AT brands or not. I bought my A900 at stereo electronics some months back. For open phones I not sure whats in your budget that is good too, since I only have senns, grados and AT cans. And senns cans need an amp, like the HD580/600/650.
  8. Yeah, look around some other forums, the headphone jack is at the subwoofer, damn troublesome if I want to switch to headphone, espically to watch movies at night. Ooh thanks. But heard the price is still around the $360 range, think no money now, saving up now. Might just go for used home system speakers, but still need to buy power amp or intergrated amp to drive speakers.
  9. Giving my newbie thoughts. Maybe get an used cdp, marantz, nad, rotel or whatever brand you like. Can be bought as low as less than $100 to $400 range. Then get also an used integrated amp, and try for mission 751 speakers, read the reviews was quite good for the price. Think 2nd hand can get the speakers at $350 or less locally. I'm not sure on integrated amp here, cause I have not venture into home audio system. But it will be the cheaper way though compared to get tube power amp + pre amp, since you need 2.
  10. I think the best choice is to get a debit card yourself. Only requirement is to be 17 years old and above. Most banks no annual fee, other then dbs, but if you're first time signing on, will have 5 years fee waiver.
  11. Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Antonio Carlos Jobim - Getz/Gilberto
  12. How much does Aego-M costs now? And where can I get it? Thanks!
  13. hmm.. Think I got what you're saying about the hiss, both kind. I dunno about theory, but I know about practical that happen to me. On the first hiss, which is on the movement and stock IC ones. I have the PA2V2, when using the stock IC, I got the hiss, but its gone when I pair it with Cardas HPI. The second hiss, I have not listen clearly, and using with stock/cheap IC and using while on computer. PC -> Little Dot 2+ -> Headphones There's the hiss regardless any sound is playing in the background and gets higher with the hiss with more volume on LD2+. But then, I have not changed any IC yet, and the output from computer, is not an exact good way, through my speakers output, not line out. So yeah, thats what I can say from my experience, no problem when I use CDP -> LD2+ -> Headphones though.
  14. Cause for the PA2V2 is a normal problem when using with the stock IC, I dunno about other portable amp. Like when you touch or move abit of the IC, they will be some hiss/static when using the stock IC with PA2V2.
  15. Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Session \m/
  16. The hiss maybe most probably cause by the stock IC, change to a better IC like the Cardas HPI or any other, should solve it. Unless it is sibilance.
  17. Yep the maiden one. How much you get it for? Yesterday went to one of the gramaphone outlet and Centerpoint, didn't saw it, cause they are having clearance sales, maybe people got it before me lol! Santana - Santana III
  18. Yep. Planning to buy Olivia Ong, Susan Wong and Astrud Gilberto cds when I see it and have extra money on that day. haha!
  19. Ooh. Maybe never read properly on the ex wife thingy at wiki, was too late at night lol. I just a beginner jazz fan, more like, if I find any jazz music I like, I just listen, didn't listen enough to know what's good or not yet. At least not now.
  20. Test out some of Astrud Gilberto and Bebel Gilberto songs at amazon, I prefer Astrud one though. But from the information I read from wikipedia and amazon, they both are related. Bebel Gilberto is Astrud and Joao Gilberto's daughter.
  21. LOL! John Grado himself with the cock bugs bunny pads.
