  1. k bro, u're in but we haven't got any concrete plans on how we should go about it as we are still in 'experimental' stage at the moment, so this MO might not materialize...
  2. Wa! zun! u guess right, i was there to fill in the 'blanks' for the parts. for some caps n resistors that Farnell couldn't provide and I managed to get a smaller, odd fitting volume knob which i can live with. its 1/4 inch not the odd size one that's recommended though.. Farnell just delivered some of my stuff today, gonna piece it up bit by bit later on, hope nothing screws up.

  4. Wonder if eastgear stocks the 300mAh, browsed thru their site and saw only the 230.
  5. My 2cts worth.... LED, use any that's T1 in size, colour pref up to you (try Koba, they might have something there) Thermal compound helps with cooling, it's preferred actually, maybe you can use those that's used for CPU to save on cost. Batterywise, I'm considering MO for Maha 300mAh, 8.4v or Accupower 270mAh. Both are not sold in SG btw, can't seem to find any. Best I could find is GP 230mAh. Price per piece will drop if more is brought in of course. Maha 300mAh is SGD$25.44/pc (includes shipping) for a MO of ten pieces (shipping USD$19) Accupower 270 mAh is SGD$17.23/pc (includes shipping) for a MO of ten pieces (shipping USD$37.90 ) but on the other hand it's still cheaper than powerex 230mAh that eastgear is selling... Wallwart, AC-DC adapter, 15VDC-24VDC, 300mA minimum, can try SLT 4th floor. I think shop name's called kaising or something like that i think... Screws for panel maybe can reuse the countersunk screws that already come with the casing?
  6. Nice, will have to hold this one out first til my kungfu up to standard first
  7. Hi Guys, you all still interested in the above kit? I emailed Jeff from glassjaraudio and got a reply from him (below) Soha lvl 2 kit (119.85) + shipping/kit (30) = 149.85 (SGD226.87) As far as i can see, there's only 3 interested parties including myself. Still wanna go thru with the buy even if it's just the 3 of us? If you are, than I'll be contacting Jeff again to ask about shipping fees for 3 kits (non priority, should be cheaper i think). Ezzo, just curious, the shipping price of US$23.10 was quoted with or without the transformer?

  10. I'll join a group buy on knobs and casing if there's one too
  11. Not too sure yet, but black is confirmed til further notice.

  13. Yeah, I think so too, these kilo aluminium knobs are pretty ex, made in USA i guess.... I checked their entire range of kilo knobs, their next smallest size is 0.125" which is way too small. BTW, i checked out AMB's site for pix of knobs they were using, they had this knob that is similar to the first knob in my previous post. Had to take back what I say about casing being ugly without the skirting. It looks pretty nice without the skirting too About the size, i did some calculations. Knob shaft dia: 6.35mm=0.25" or 1/4 inch shaft dia: 5.99mm=0.236" Knob's slightly bigger at 0.36mm. less than half a mm of difference. Sounds negligible, think I'm gonna give it a shot. If we can neglect that 0.36mm difference, we can definitely go for the cheaper and nicer looking ones at farnell. What do you guys think? http://sg.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse.js...shaft+knob&Ntx=
  14. Good stuff! BTW, I found some Kilo knobs at rscomp that might suit our needs, knob diameter 1/2 inch, shaft diameter 1/4 inch, think these will work? Tot of adding this to the group buy to complete the kit knob1 stock no: 2508608882 details knob2 stock no: 2508608090 details knob3 stock no:2508608264 details knob 4 stock no:2508608680 details Knob 5 stock no:2508608113 details Reply from kokbee
  15. I don't mind that but problem is I'm working at Jurong east, don't drive or ride, meeting up is gonna be a bit difficult here. BTW, I think we can start a list on interested participants on the face plates and other stuff from farnell to get things moving a bit. Should we start a new thread or combine with this thread? So far from what we can see it's as follow... Front/back panel heady - 3 mouz - 1 Casing 1455C801
  16. Thanks for the comments guys! Really appreciate it. aegisofrime, I agree with you about showing them the sample but there's only a few guys in here who has it and they might not have the time to go all the way way to the shop to show it to them. So we'll just have to trust the shop and the dimensions given by AMB are correct. ezzo, good thing you told me about the casing. Was checking out the cases and I think I'll be buying 1455C801 (Al panel - Plastic panel - CASE - Plastic panel - Al panel), just replace the aluminium plates with the completed face plates and you're done. I checked the dimensions of face plates on both AMB and Hammond. Dimensions are almost the same actually. In theory, it should work I suppose. 1455C802 comes with plastic end cover with skirting, so if we replace it with the face plates, there's a chance the edges of the face plate will stick out a bit. Looks ugly too if you ask me.... From AMB L 2.1230" (53.924mm) B 0.9030" (22.936mm) From hammond 1455C801 1455C802
  17. Ok than, we'll just stick with $32 a set for the first batch. I just hope they know how to read the diagrams correctly, hope they don't mistake the countersunk hole for a thru hole... Anyway, I'll send the email tonight if there's no further queries. If all goes well, we can a start group buy for face plates by end of this week hopefully.
  18. Sounds pretty ok... There's a gravoply2 gloss which sounds better with a scratch resistant surface, think I'll ask them if they make it in gravoply2 also Gravoply Sheets - 24" x 48" Easy to clean, Chip and shatter proof, Engraves clean and sharp, Stain resistant, Resists salt water, oil and acids Easily sheared to size 30% lighter then phenolics Indoor use only http://www.professionalplastics.com/cgi-bi...Engraving-Stock Gravoply2 Features: Low glare matte finish Gravoply 2 Gloss has an extra durable scratch resistant glossy cap Micro thin surface layer Perfect for small characters and detailed logos Low glare matte finish on Woods, Granites and Tech Patterns http://www.professionalplastics.com/cgi-bi...Engraving-Stock
  19. $30USD not including shipping yet right? That sounds expensive... Below are the questions I'm gonna ask kokbee, if you have any further queries please feel free to add before I shoot another email back to them. 1. Other than black with white letterings, will you be able to produce white with black letterings too? 2. Are you able to lower production cost, for example, using alternative materials? 3. Do you offer any discount if we order more? 4. If you are able to offer a discount, how many more must we order? 5. What is the advantages of using gravoply? tougher and more durable? 6. Are you able to produce the plates using Gravoply2, if so, how much will that be? Actuallly, I think it would be wise to order one set first to check out their build quality. We'll be screwing ourselves over if we order in bulk and none if it fits properly. BTW, this kokbee place doesnt seem easily accessible by public transport, might need someone who drives a car or ride a bike to go there with the sample for further discussion. Volunteers? 20. Hi Guys, update on the quotes for customised faced plates. Heady, what's your view on this? It's a total of $32nett (no GST needed) for both back & front panel, reasonable? 21. I did a search for push on knobs on farnell and rs components, can anyone confirm if these can be used? http://sg.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse.js...1&Ntt=knob&Ntx= http://www.rssingapore.com/cgi-bin/bv/rsww...=sgie&Nr=avl:sg
  22. Bad news guys, scan eng does not customise the plates that we want. 23. Ok Guys, i ve emailed scan engineering asking for a quotation of 13 pcs of panel (according to MO). Showed them the front/back panels from the AMB site for reference. It's this one right?
