  1. For me amping a portable player defeats the purpose of portability, to be honest. I would recommend getting a good PCDP that has got a strong headphone out and be done with
  2. Try this Click and re-click to make the horses sing I like the combination of the far left and the far right horses Enjoy
  3. Scriberex, thanks for the link. Have you placed an order for the CD3000 from Sound House? Can you let me know how it went? You'll have to excuse me, my japanese is not that great Cheers
  4. Speaking of options OS 9 is made obsolete with the arrival of OS X (Panther). Surfing is fast becoming unbearable under IE and Netscape (the only browsers supported under OS 9), it sucks big time. Here a season to be updating *come on everybody* lalalalala lala la la.....
  5. Yet another joke from an sms, it will never stop I guess Confucius says : A man is old if he looks at the food instead of the waitress! And older if he eats the food and not the waitresses Now we all know Confucius never said anything like that yeah?
  6. Norm (Headsave) does churn out quality workmanship. There is alot of tender loving put into his products. Is that an Alps blue pot shoehorned into the SerPac case, very nice indeed. Would be interesting to pitch the PIMETA against META42 of yore in a head to head. How did it fare against the RA-1 and RA-1 clone in the NAF NAF?
  7. Online translation timed out, but manage to find out that the Sony MDR CD300 is on offer in 'THIS' online retailer. For ¥36,500 ~ US$338 sounds juicy to me. Now where is the japanese speaking member that can help me with this purchase, I'm serious guys!
  8. Happy B'Day Sam Have a Heinie on me
  9. Let me be the first to wish you Happy Birthday. Many happy Headfi'ing Sincerely, From the lair of #SgHeAdPhOnEs
  10. I'm up for silly jokes lately too Recieved via sms from a relative like I had a choice right Ok here is my contribution of the day/night whatever! Wife sleeping in the middle of the night, suddenly wakes up. "Quick! My husband is back!!" The man gets up, jumps out the window when he realises, "sh*t! I am the husband" Can go figure where the yellow color is, yeah?
  11. Sure thing N@z, and I also have some good news for you too. Not to let the cat out of the bag I'll let you know by Monday if all goes well. My study/listening room is semi operational as of today and the "Project Vinyl' is up and running and gathering momentum rapidly I might add. Finally got some serious listening going after two weeks or so on the portables. The LP12 would be a tedious job to get running though, but I have high hopes of it performing well beyond my expectations. Watch this space!
  12. ymmit, how does the post burn in of the SR80's go? I used my SR60 on the powerbook and find them abit bloated in the low end and the mids tend to be reccessed too. The encoding proccess might be to blamed here for the Grado punch is subdued IMO. However if I may recommend, I would strongly suggest you try the Sony MDR 7506/V6 raved about but highly underrated YMMV. I have used it with my Mac and they tame the highs very well IMO. The headphone out from the Mac (not to sure about the 12" Powerbooks) tend to be too bright for lesser cans too AFAIK
  13. av98m, keep us informed on you findings please. A week of 10~12 cycles should be enough to give a consistent evaluation. Looking forward to it The Plainviews are not available in Singapore IIRC, it was discussed before in a previous thread. There was a hint of a powerbuy but the concessions are pretty negligible really. Maybe save on shipping costs only. If there is more interest I think we can do something. So anybody up for reviving the powerbuy?
  14. Ok mine is a 2 year old iPod 1st generation 5GB 665 songs, mostly samples of mp3 ripped in various encoded formats. That's the most I have ever had till now, really.
  15. av98m, so you did not get the Plainview charger and the GP battery charger work fine? One question : Can the GP charger (assuming it's a dual battery charger) charge both plainviews simultaneously? Some pics will be good too, so as not to get confused with the numerous GP chargers that are available, Cheers
  16. Tom Sawyer is the opening track on the first Disc
  17. RUSH in Rio Released on the 21st of October 2003, this three CD album is touted as the most celebrated Live Rock album of the New Century. A must have to the 'Rush' fan at the very least, indeed. B0000C0FJB.01
  18. Happy B'day Matey Enjoy the day, hopefully catch up with you in the next SgHeadphones meet, yeah?
  19. Happy B'Day Benny Wishing you many happy returns and happy headfi'ing
  20. That shouldn't be a problem, just remember not to put your powerbook on auto sleep. And plug in the mains power adapter, but I guess you'd already know that Enjoy!
  21. N@z, The Roksan will be decomissioned and maybe scrapped for parts, the motor conked out last week. Power supply seem to be in working order. This is turning to be more difficult than I thought. To get the LP12 going is the priority now.
  22. Mackie, I heard the LP12 following in S'pore is very healthy. What are ones chances of acquiring a 2nd hand Ittok LVII tonearm? I'm keeping my eye on this one at this very moment.
  23. Here's my Xerxes, acquired when I was studying in UK. The whole period of acquisition took place the best part of 9 months on a students allowance and part time jobs
