  1. I think some shops in Sim Lim Square carry it too, at a price tag of $269 if I remember correctly. Is that above Jaben's price?
  2. Sure it is man... And judging from what little of the babelfished translation I can read, it supports OGG and FLAC too. Damn rare for a chinese player. I'm buying it for sure, IF I can find someplace to buy it from.
  3. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht...n&hl=en&ie=UTF8 As seen on dapreview. Pretty interesting specs. Telechips TCC770 which is the one used in the iAudio U3 and a wolfson DAC. The most interesting part is the price. US$125 which probably translates to SGD$250 tops including tax and other stuff. Now the problem is where to buy it. :/
  4. Anyone thinking of getting a Cresyn E630 should take a look at this: That is a shot of my friend's Cresyn. The metallic paint has worn off to reveal an ugly white surface underneath. On top of that, he says one side is beginning to sound weaker than the other. My friend has always taken good care of his earphones, storing it in a pouch when not in use. Yet despite these protective measures look at the state of the earphones now.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions... I have certainly considered the Grados and MS1, since my buddy has got a MS1 himself and I kinda like it. But, don't flame me for this, I actually prefer the KSC75 over the MS1 >_> Read over at head-fi that the Philips 895 delivers good detail and clarity. Thinking of getting that, as detail and clarity are pretty high on my list. The highs should be too fatiguing, and that's what I'm afraid of with Grados. With my CK-7 sometimes electric guitars make my ears hurt.
  6. It ain't as bad as some of the money spent counters I have seen at head-fi, my wallet is only down by maybe $200 plus so far.
  7. Hey there guys. To cut a long story short, I have just POP recently, and just gotten my measly allowance of $350, and I have maybe 7 more days of block leave left. Thinking of getting a new headphone to enjoy for the rest of my block leave. I have been reading here and elsewhere that the Goldring DR150 and Philips 890/895 are good phones for their price. Thinking of heading down to Stereo to try the Goldring. Currently my shortlist includes Audio-Technica A500, Goldring DR150 and Philips 895. Welcome any other suggestions of good headphones under $150. And most importantly, I listen to rock. I learnt the hard way that I cannot take every "OMG these headphones are the l33t pwnz0rS" review at face value after buying the CK7. >_> Thanks guys!
  8. It's true that the 1st generation lossless rip from the CD might not be the same, due to some read errors during the ripping process. This can be countered by using the right techniques (force re-read etc...). However when transcoding between different lossless formats, the data should be the same. This applies to .Wav too, even though strictly speaking it is an uncompressed format rather than lossless, for those nitpicky ones out there As for data being moved through different hands via P2P programs, I believe that these programs will perform some sort of CRC checking to ensure that what you downloaded is the same as the original. If you really wanna confirm, you can share the same file between you and your friend about ten-times and do a bit-by-bit check against the original file. Bit-by-bit checks are the most stringent since it actually compares the actual 1s and 0s.
  9. Awww damn. But I believe orders for the PA2V2 will be dropping off real soon, since now it is the consensus in Head-fi that the Xenos and Go-Vibe v5 are superior to the PA2V2. That should push him towards a PA3.
  10. Since we are on the topic of amps... How does the PPA2 fare? I have read on Head-fi that it compares very well against $1000 class amps, can't give you guys the citation though. Just wanna confirm, because I actually have a PPA2 board now, but I don't have the know-how to build it. Thinking of getting someone to do it for me if the PPA2 is actually a good amp. Don't ask me how I got the board in the first place, got it on a whim
  11. I'm probably hijacking the topic, but just need a quick answer. Sometime ago, while buying the PA2v2 on behalf of my friend, I asked Gary if there's going to be a PA3 and he said there's one in the works. The friend I bought the amp for also mentioned that someone on this forum beta-tested the PA3 for Gary. Is it true? Anyway, hope to read a full sonic impression from you loop!
  12. And after that you can buy the damn rock band itself.
  13. No... ES2 is the one for you. Or probably a Sensaphonic
  14. I thought of getting the Supermacro too, just because it had a massive amount of op-amp sockets to play around with. (8 if I remember correctly). But its just a playful thought. I will never get a Xin product, because somehow I don't like Xin as a guy. Weird personal bias I guess, but I would rather buy from Gary Ali.
  15. Interesting topic. Incidentally, I have a friend who's Creative DAP is dying (big surprise there) and might be shopping for a DAP. He wants to get a CLT-720 but I keep telling him that he might as well get a X5L; beats carrying around all those CDs and swapping them around where he could just loseless the whole bunch.
  16. I don't really think it will stifle that sense of wonder. I have always been more interested in Extrasolar Planets. I mean, think of the solar system as your backyard and the rest of the galaxy as the world outside. Kids will learn about their backyard, and sooner or later they will venture out into the big unknown.
  17. Ease of use is one thing. I do actually prefer the wide variety of software that Windows OS offers me. I'm primarily a gamer, and more often than not games available on Windows aren't available on Mac. Plus the fact that Fruity stuff are massively overpriced. I'm not going to slap now $2k+ for a horribly expensive cum crappy hardware box that screams "Hey look at me I'm white!" when I can build a near top-of-the-line PC for less than that. That's my two cents. But hey, I'm an anti-apple fanboy and am prone to going into deranged bursts of rage whenever I see Fruity products.
  18. Perhaps, perhaps Still, no matter how good the SQ of the Shuffle, I would never get one as a matter of personal choice. Not having a screen makes me want to tear my hair out.
  19. I went to his place and I made sure both music tracks were the same. Ripped using EAC and encoded using LAME. The file was on my MP3 player before, so I just copied it to his PC and from there to the shuffle. BTW, my MP3 was a S1 MP3, hardly a DAP that can be considered even average. The earphones were a pair of CK-7s. I have a Diploma in Biotechnology, so I do know something about carrying out fair and scientific experiments. Both DAPs were un-EQed.
  20. Seriously I tried out my bunk buddy's Shuffle, on music that I was familiar with and at high bitrates, and it sounded like a hamster farting. I imagine the SQ out of a Made-In-China FM Radio would be better.
  21. Yup mini-usb ports allowed. They don't allow those that you can plug directly into the computer. Like my Sergeants said, normal iPods are allowed, but not Shuffles.
  22. It is the usually stunned look or something more funny ? Hmmm... Imagine someone has been using Bose for as long as he can remember, spending thousands along the way. Suddenly one day someone gives him a pair of say, maybe a MS1 or a Senn HD650 if you will. Imagine the look on his face when he realises the truth! Epiphany would be a good word to describe. Nowadays still have to take this kinda precaution? I did that, but only because my MP3 player has a USB jack. Apparently camera phones and MP3 players are allowed, as long as they don't have USB jacks. (Oh yeah, like we really want to run off with classified information like Recruit XXX has hairy nipples). So yeah, just get yourself an MP3 player without a USB jack. Me, I'm gonna bring my K750 in.
  23. Thanks dle4e_2005! I will go check it out tomorrow, finally I can use my CK-7 with my K750.
  24. My company Pegusus, still got quite alot of free time to listen to music. I intro-ed my EP-630s to my buddy who's using a shuffle and thinks that I-buds are the best in the world. The look on his face when he heard my EP-630 was well... You have to see it for yourself lah
  25. Hey guys, since we are on the topic of mobile phones I need a bit of urgent help here. I just bought a K750i and I need someone to recommend me a place to get a high quality 3.5mm stereo adapter for the phone. Don't want to get the Sony handsfree adapter since it comes with their own in-ears, EX51s I think. Any help will be appreciated.
