to some yes... to some no... reason is simple... it ur IEM cable is 1.2m long, i dun think u'll wan additional 0.6m long remote... tt add on to 1.8m... i rather take the player out to switch song... but if ur IEM is 0.5m long, total length is 1.1m long, yes.. iut useful

in short, they are very comparable(in terms of SQ) but theres reports of bass rolloffs from the lineout of the X5 and the HP out is better...as I have mentioned in another thread, the X5 complete bundle(player+gst+remote) should set u back about $600... so it now boils down to whether you need the slickness/scratchy/video/NO built in FM of the ipod, or the ums/FM/lcd remote/longer battery lifr/solid unscratchable case of the iaudio... x5l linoe out bass roll of is due to the poor line out cable... headfi guy diy a cable and it actaully sound great...
