  1. The DA10 is hooked up a top-loader from Original. Very nice combo. *hint* *hint*. I preferred the Original with the Meier Cantate though. It was probably the choice of headphones. I used the DT990 with the DA10 and the MS pro with the Cantate. I heard there was/is going to be a huge unveiling of some nice new amp (think B52-istque) for testing. I can't confirm that though.
  2. I believe What Hi-Fi? magazine gave it a 5 star review in their March 2006 issue. Sorry for the blur pictures, can't seem to get a good shot. Didn't take these out of the packaging for the photos as well. Price negotiable
  3. You guys do realize that the thread starter posted this at the end of April, almost 5 months ago, right? I wonder what happened in the end.
  4. Now, shall I tempt you with the D5000? Or a recabling for the D2000? Joking. On a more serious note, the most important thing would be to enjoy the music.
  5. The AKGs are really comfortable. Quite a bit like the Audio Technicas (with the leather band taking the place of the "3D wing"). Have never tried the Senns though.
  6. Have you tried the DT990? I wasn't terribly impressed with it when I did (I never liked the Beyers much anyway, even the DT880, which I found cold and sterile).
  7. Beyerdynamic SX-10 for sale. It hasn't been used, except when I opened the plastic packaging to have a decent burn-in (for about 20 hours). No signs of use at all. Great for joggers, especially so for those who don't use spectacles. I'd rate it 10/10 for condition, though if I strictly follow the definition on Jaben's forum, it'd be a 9/10 Asking price: $40 (negotiable, no lowballing)
  8. I'll get one. What other colours are there actually? Group Buy Participants 1. mouz - 1 set - black 2. heady - 3 sets - black 3. DemonicAngelz - 1 set - black 4. aaron-xp - 1 set - black
  9. Hmm. Sounds great to me. It is important to collect orders now though. Not sure if everyone would want the faceplate. I am all for it though.
  10. Both Aron and Uncle Wilson will definitely help you in that aspect (of shortlisting and recommending). Stereo Electronics - Causeway Point Jaben - Adelphi (opposite Funan IT mall) I think the Shure E4 (or its current equivalent) or Westone UM2 would be good. I think you could get a custom (LiveWire) at this price as well (from Jaben). EDIT: Wow. An "anti-climaxical" 1000th post
  11. I'm not sure about the 2005 version and the pro version. Also, there are a few different (3, if I am not wrong) versions of it, each with a different amount of impedance.
  12. Hmm, I guess the difference between the DT880 and the DT880 (2005) would be the release year, with the 2005 model being the newer one. Ditto for the DT990 and the DT990 (2005) I've never tried the old DT880, although I have heard that it is much lousier than the 2005 version. I don't really like the DT880 (when un-amped), as it sounds really dry and sterile. I had a very short session with the DT990, and found it a little underwhelming, although that was indeed a really short session with a CD I wasn't familiar with.
  13. Wow. Your budget doubled since the start. It's USD300 now on headfi.
  14. Nah. What impressed me was the sheer fact that it was this that led to ASR buying his AD2000 and starting the small AD2000 FOTM trend. Speaks loads about headphones which are not really well known - they may be every bit as good as the traditional big boys (HD650, DT880 and K701)
  15. As in the AD2000? I'm not too sure. I've tried and come to like the AD series in terms of comfort (tried the AD1000). There was a mini-comparison by nabwong on headphone between the AD2000 and the W5000 (W1000's bigger brother). http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.p...tereo+singapore
  16. ^ No problem. L3000 is a limited edition model though. Haha. The AD2000 is the next headphone I am aiming for (although I'll probably never ever be able to convince my mum about it, given its cost), although that's probably another story altogether.
  17. It's true that we have 2 great shops, especially since Singapore is so small. Here's a place where you can get a mini^3 built. http://www.amb.org/audio/mini3/ Or you could always wait for the group buy to be over and see if anyone wants to sell you a ready-made mini^3.
  18. Hey chill. As for top-range headphones not being suited for the above mentioned genres, I think you missed out the L3000. The Beyer DT150 is another possible choice (one of Uncle Wilson's favored headphones), but it's a monitoring headphone, so you may dislike the sound signature. There not much more reading up can do to help you. It'll be best if you go down to a headphone shop and do some listening.
  19. Hmm, I'm not too sure about which headamp be good as a preamp (never done that before, although it's possible if I am not wrong). The DIVA looks really appealing though. The power amp should preferably be a dedicated power amp. Not sure if an integrated one would be undoing the good of a pre + power amp combo. DISCLAIMER: I'm no expert in speaker matters. I just use a relatively low-end integrated amp plus an MS914. This thread may help: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=259799
  20. I don't think an integrated amp will be as good as a dedicated headamp. (my PM4001 can be a testament to that). You may want to get a headamp first, and use that as a speaker pre-amp, then get a power-amp in the future.
  21. Hmm, you never know till you try, as in for the Senns and the AKGs (based on what you said, I don't think you have heard them). The AKGs require a decent amp. If you do have one, they'll probably be good. You could stop by Jaben to try them (I saw a K601 in a cardboard box in the open). I could probably give you a good deal, in my opinion, on my K601 (haha, possible chance for upgrade for me). Remember though, the AKGs are open headphones. Is there any reason why you'd rather closed headphones?
  22. Hmm... The thread starter did mention that he found the SR80 a bit uncomfortable, and the MS2i is similar to the Grado series in terms of comfort (or the lack thereof).
  23. The AXXX series is rather comfy, at least to me, although as I have said earlier on, they do make your ears feel warm after some time. Never tried the ES7 before, though it looks like a better choice if you are using it for portable listening. Real good looker though. Tell you what, you may want to go down to SE or Jaben to try out a few headphones. Ask (uncle? ) Aron / uncle Wilson for advice as well. I remember that there are a few Sennheiser models in the price range, though their names escape me.
  24. Have never tried the Sony V6, though I heard it is a monitoring headphone. Actually, I have never heard the A700 either, only the bigger brother, the A900. A word of warning - the closed headphones do make your ears get a bit warm after a while, especially in Singapore's warm climate. I doubt you'll want to use this as a portable headphone, given how it looks. (people would be staring ) Here are some reviews on the A900. ($200+, I think). http://headphonereviews.org/headphone.php?...w&headphoneId=1
  25. Hmm. Alien species? I actually based it on the fact that you said that the K81DJ was a bit too small for your head. The A700 is definitely less than $200. PM SE for more info though.
