  1. ^ Doesn't AKG call them Ear Speakers?
  2. WAH ~ 90% of their volume !!! are they deaf ? or are they trying to drown out outside noise ? Most people listen at about 100%, blows out their ear-drums. Never had anyone look at me on the train with my UM1. Always take 6 o'clock trains, so nobody really notices, at most some secondary school pupils, most of whom are more interested in ibuds
  3. Oh... Really got me tempted there. Really a newbie at amps, not too sure what they do, amplify sound (as the name suggests), improve sound, (how?) & what else. If only I had a decent DAP with me still. Seems like a new DAP is still the way to go, but come to think of it, Christmas and birthday is coming along.
  4. Defintely. Without them, or canalphones, train rides will be greatly different.
  5. ...EVEN on the air-conditioned train. That's one factor why most Singaporeans avoid big headphones (besides aesthetic and cost factors).
  6. Oops, sorry of my bad advice. . Anyway, the iM716 gives rather good value, expecially for an IEM.
  7. ...which is said to be between the ER6 and ER4, at the price of less than an ER6.
  8. Most don't really care, look at the example where people listen at full-blaster with earbuds. I once tried my HQ-1700 on the train. Quit after once, too soft underneath the loud train noises.
  9. Well, placebo effect is one of the best thing you can get in headphones, it's free, after all. Anyway, there shouldn't be any damage to the drivers, right?
  10. Did something really weird that day, when my ears were rather sweaty from using my HQ-1700. Put a packet of slicia gel (ones that come in packets, from various foodstuff, so that the food doesn't get mouldy in Singapore's humid conditions) in between both driver units. The 'phone sound better now, better instrument seperation. Placebo effect?
  11. I have to add that I use long complys though.
  12. Cool... I assume the volume is this high as the 'phones are difficult to drive, right?
  13. Dude, you got great ears! Thanks. May be due to age though.
  14. It'll most likely be down to these three Creative speakers. Though the Gigaworks is not official portable (no battery support), they seem small enough to carry along, and should be decent for computer use also. GigaWorks T20 TravelSound 400 TravelSound i300
  15. I use 1/25 on my Zen Micro, 1-2/40 on my TX FM and 1/15 on my CD player.
  16. How's the build quality for the driver unit? I heard that they crack easily. How long is the warranty?
  17. The wiring looks really cool. Seems to be able to avoid the problem I faced with the UM1, since the entire wire is plastic coated.
  18. Stereo sells quite a few tips. Classified page Read the part on Westone, Shure and Etymotics accessories.
  19. Without doubt, best isolation, in my opinion, comes from long comply tips.

    Audio Books!

I prefer the real thing. Paper and ink cannot be beaten by bits and bytes. Also, there are some lit text analysis that can be bought as audiobooks (in mp3 form I think, not audible's format) Sparknotes
  21. ^ couldn't put it better myself. Though the UE10 would be preferable to the ES1. It'll slowly turn your attention to the STAX and HE range of Sennheisers soon, though it seems like a distant dream. Just like to Reach the Unreachable Star.
  22. Just beware of the so-called upgradisitis. If you go lower end at the start, you may end up craving for better sound. Meaning maybe more money. Really depends on personal discipline and choice.
  23. Don't really like the DESIGN of these blcoky flash players. Noooooooo, I commited a grave crime, choosing design over features.... Just joking though. Actually wanted at least 4GB in the player. I make an exception for the clix thouhg.
