  1. The Tomahawk is another amp developed by Ray Samuels. I believe it's more of an IEM amp. There are the words "IEM" on their casing. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=206829 I believe headfi was down last night, hence not being able to search for the page. PS: A rather pretty amp, don't you think?
  2. Comfort - Ultra Soft Shure Flanges (grey ones) Durability - Clear Flex (Hard, transparent ones) Isolation - Tri-flanges Comfort + Isolation + Ability to hear your heart beating - Long Westone Complys (But it seems that this is the one you don't really like) I personally loved the tri-flange (unmodded, I've got straight ear canals) for the UM1 for their great isolation and nice sound.
  3. Haha. Departmental stores are all geared up, while the Marina Square area has the decorations partially up. Late?
  4. May see one of you guys... I frequent the Bishan area.
  5. Except that it doesn't look as much as a ear-aid because of the colours. Seriously though, Westone should consider a nail-polish black for it's UM series IEMs, rather than the sickly black (whatever name the horrible colour is called) it has now on the UM2.
  6. Don't call it a earbud, It's an IEM!
  7. Doesn't this look like an ideal custom ear-tip for the super fi. series?
  8. Looks decent, and probably sounds good as well. Yay. Another mid-range contender. PS: I think the post would gain more attention in the portable audio sub-forum.
  9. Yes, it's something like that. I don't think "sturdy" wires can really solve the problem. It's still best to ask the other super fi. owners. Braided wires, on the other hand (such as those by Westone), seem to be great at countering microphonics.
  10. Received mine too. Sorry for the horrible photos.
  11. It's really a personal thing. I may find it a waste of time to buy a $100 razer mouse, feeling that it will offer little benefit to me as compared to the stock optical mouse. Similarly, a "normal consumer" would think that a $170 UM1 would offer little benefit to him/her over the stock buds. Relax though. I escaped the stock bud route, mainly due to the discomfort they induce.
  12. It's the horrible sound of the wires being rubbed against something else, which is rather irritating to the listener.
  13. Was looking for this model in Singapore, and couldn't find it anywhere. Was recommended it by the headfiers for its low cost and extra bonuses (SACD playback, which is not essential to me). Is there anywhere that it is available. Took a trip down to Sim Lim Square, but all I asked didn't stock up on this model (admittedly though, I didn't search every shop). Wanted to order online, but mum didn't really like the idea of doing so (potential problem with player and shipping hassle). Otherwise, what other alternatives are there. Budget <SGD300. Not really much preference on the sonic signature, but would like it to have a decent redbook output. SACD or DVD-A would be nice, but not important. How much does the Cambridge Audio Azur 340C cost in Singapore? Thanks for the help... What do you guys think of the Oppo 970? http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=41032.0 http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=196920 Seems to be rather well liked at its price point... Will probably pair it off with a K501 or K601. Ampless currently, but will get one eventually.
  14. Err... I thought it was Westone which had gotten it right all the while. There has been some complains about the Shures.
  15. I certainly hope it lasts... The wind was so strong today though. Really cold.
  16. Something cheaper? I always thought MOs were mostly for cheaper items, to allow more people to participate. The ER4 would be a great addition though. It's much cheaper overseas than in Singapore if I am not wrong. Anyway, the MS2 looks good to me.
  17. Most agree that only dynamic drivers need the burn in. Earbuds, therefore, qualify. In my opinion though, the effect is much less evident in them (probably because I haven't used any higher-end earbuds yet before)
  18. Noticed that too... Probably a wrong deletion or system bug.
  19. I doubt any local stores sell them. You can always post on the classifieds though, someone may be willing to let go of their used one. Otherwise, ebay or electric avenues is still the way to go.
  20. Saw a Razerpro M100 today - On my classmate. Went with him to Stereo to get it. He was rather impressed with the CK7, but it was over budget... Thanks Aron for the hospitality... Enjoyed the SR225, MS2 and AD900.
  21. You usually get used to the low levels of the microphonics noise, though it is really irritating when the wind blows or it rubs against your shirt.
  22. With the L3000, AD2000, SA5000, HD650, K701, HF1, GS1000 and the E5, I doubt its a slow way up... I'm drooling just looking at your headphone inventory... Oops...
  23. Must be the hazy weekend syndrome... Same thing happened last Saturday.
  24. For me, definitely. The rent may be slightly higher there, though human traffic is huge. There are also 3 CD shops in Parkway itself (Sembawang, Gramaphone, and one smaller one in the basement. CD-Rama of Popular is just nearby).
  25. ^ Haha. I don't think the outdoors concept will be good. Too warm and noisy, and crowded (for East Coast).
