  1. congrats on the new phones dexter. hope you enjoy them.
  2. hi dragonboy, i thought that dynamic drivers and armature drivers are quite different creatures altogether. like oranges and apples. curious which dynamic phones you've used before?
  3. hi dragonboy, i'll PM you on the cost.
  4. hi dexter, had the same problem as you sometime in Dec. brought it down to Jaben and Uncle Wilson saved my beloved CK7s! you might want to bring it down to get it checked out.
  5. i thought i recall seeing the Koss plugs at Stereo. you should give them a buzz.
  6. hi blackmouth0, i play the bassoon. *grin* play here and there for various bands and sometimes for the community orchestras. working now so schedule is bit unpredictable. do you still play? didn't realise there was a carmen arrangement for symphonic band. interesting.
  7. hi blackmouth0, i'm a band member too! what instrument do you play? have you tried playing any classical transcriptions for band?
  8. i personally like the duo Kiroro, as well as Emi Fujita, for female vocals. for male vocals, Fukuyama Masaharu's live albums work for me.
  9. hi, have got a pair of sennheiser px200 which i seldom use. PM if u're interested.
  10. hi, jaben helped fix up my CK7s when it went dead in one ear too.
  11. what an interesting visitor to have to perk up your day!
  12. hi, you may want to try dropping by jaben at adelphi. no harm asking them for ideas. they're really friendly.
  13. i have askenazy's take on rachmaninoff's piano concerto nos. 2 and 3 by Decca, as well as martha's. like his reticence and stoicism in no. 2 but martha's passion in no. 3 is quite something. after you have chance to listen to martha, would love to hear your thoughts.
  14. heya, that's exactly what i was curious about. thanks for sharing. i like symphonies / concertos with a certain darkness. brahms has it, mahler too. rachmaninov, and in a more curious way shostakovich as well. i also find the tone and balance of the berlin philharmonic's woodwinds quite fetching. the philadelphia orchestra's woodwinds under eugene ormandy do quite well too. however, my favourite woodwind moment is still listening to the SSO live when the principals are playing! for strings, i have a soft spot for the wiener phil and the london symphony orchestra (the latter probably because i was brainwashed by the soundtrack of Star Wars ....).
  15. thanks fuwen! i saw the dvd of beethoven 4 & 7 at gramophone the other day. but am presently obsessed about brahms symphony no. 4, in particular the 1st movement .... which orchestral sounds do you fancy?
  16. will keep looking. if all else fails, will hunt down a copy when i visit vienna next year!
  17. hi, has anyone had a chance to listen to both brahms' symphony no. 4 by karajan & the berliner, and kleiber & the vienna phil? i have the former and am thinking of getting the latter, but have not been able to find it.
  18. am quite clueless about what's inside earphones. am crawling the net to see if anyone's resurrected a dead IEM before.... wish me luck.
  19. hi dragonboy, afraid it's past the warranty period. i love them so much, really hope i can get them fixed.
