  1. there's a guy looking to buy a minidisc player here. but i think his budget is around $45. your Hi-MD player is worth more than that in my opinion.
  2. if you're not averse to shipping overseas, you might be able to find someone interested over at the Audio T-Board. my audio-technica AD900 and panasonic portable cd player is like a match in heaven. makes music come alive for me. my IEMs just died in one ear, need to get a pair for commuting. can't decide between earphones and IEMs ...
  3. thanks very much for this. maybe i can take my md players out of the house soon. i have to use them plugged into the power outlet because the NiMH batteries kaput a long time ago. on the topic of portable cd players, my really ancient panasonic one sounds amazingly good right out of the headphone out. and it runs on AA batteries too! i picked up an old sony one from cash converters a year ago and that one died really fast and didn't sound as good to my ears.
  4. hi, sorry to interrupt your cd player hunt, but could you be so kind as to let me know where you managed to buy new gumstick batteries?
  5. heya not sure if anyone's interested in this so i'll just put it up for awhile. decided to get a new mp3 player so letting go of my Cowon iAudio U3 1GB with some wear and tear on its body. comes with screen protector which shows signs of use. please note that the earphone jack is eccentric, there are occasions when left earphone output is interrupted. tested with several earphones and concluded that the jack is the one that is acting up. other than this, i love the Cowon sound. will be packed in its original box and includes: * a black Cowon iAudio U3 1GB (with a used screen protector) * unused driver installation CD * instruction manual more photos: due to work commitments, i can only deal at raffles place. thanks for your understanding. will consider all offers.
  6. one of favourite rachmaninovs.
  7. check daiso to see if they have small boxes? or mint tins?
  8. hi, went to stereo to get a pair of full-sized open headphones. ATH-AD700 - $269 ATH-AD900 - $369 my friend got a pair of sony ex300 canalphones for $150.
  9. my first pair was a second-hand set of CK7s which i got from this very forum. the best money i ever spent.
  10. i got my cowon U3 from one of those sim lim ground floor shops couple years ago. remember to ask them to quote you the price including GST.
  11. paul desmond's bossa antigua. so brilliant. the drummer - connie kay - has a really special sound. especially his high hats and rim shots.
  12. while not exactly piano music, the discussion about the "twang" brought this to mind. was just listening to a recording of Bach's flute sonatas by jean-pierre rampal and on one of them he is accompanied by a cembalo (or harpsichord). such a special sound, it has these interesting harmonics with every note. very delicate.
  13. woo ... for $800, i could probably get the AD900 and a couple months' worth of cds to listen to. but there's something about woodies that makes you just want to have it ... the ESW9 was already pretty gorgeous sounding to my ears.
  14. yeah, it looks like a monster. and i looked pretty dumb i think but .... the world doesn't bother you much when you are embraced by all that wonderful sound!
