  1. IMHO 1. I think you are on track bout the dielectrics, but I personally think that less is more for them. This is the reason vacuum is used in some top design. Most of the other materials will affect the mechanical & chemical properties of the conductors - even air whcih is also a conductor. 2. Shieldings do affect the signal a bit. Try the same design without one, with a open or closed shealth and you can tell the difference immediately. Cable without shields will usually be faster and more dynamic but subjected to much RF interference - I have notice that most digital ics and power supplies are heavily shealthed to keepout the RFs. If you shield too much it will slow down your music. 3. In this area, I guess purity of conductors and contacts are very significant. I personally like the Eichmann plugs very much - less is more - plastic + hollowed out hot connector acted like a dielecctric to reduce the RFs too. 4. Geometry & Topography - as you will know already, in Electric Engineering terms, if you pass a current thru any conducting cable, a magnetic flux / field will be generate in a clock wise direction along the direction of the current. The way you design or twist the cables, the number of twists, the no of cables in the twist, length of the cables, dielectrics and space between each cable do also affect the characteristics tremendously. Typically one of the reason for directional controls on some cable designs. 5. And yes lastly, the syngery with your system is the most important when looking at cables.
  2. Very tempting and almost audition it. But I know my trigger finger is always faster than my brain, so walked pass the shop a few times but resisted the temptation.
  3. Have heard it once in early Feb, very very very musical and analog sounding + great remote. Price is little ex for me + the souped-up Cyrus with PSXR was only a fraction of the Meridien's asking price. Decisions, decisions, decisions......
  4. My dearly beloved and departed Chet Baker, one the jazz greatest trumpeter and sometime vocalist. Died a tragic death way before his time like Billie Holiday - drugs + accident, what a pity. Do a search on the net on his work, may be down load some MP3s for referencing. Especially like his ballads and "My Funny Valentine" - you can also find his work on the OST of "Round Midnight".
  5. Majored in Metalllurgy but never practise before, but IMHO and if I'm not wrong, most of the properties of any metal is determined by their purity of the main element. It is still a "voodoo science", a trade secret til today. Processes like heat treatment eg. annealing/cryogenic process and mechanical treatments like cold/hot rolling/forging can affect the the electric and mechanical properties of the metal a great deal, not to mention the types of insulation, shielding, diameter, plugs and design of the cable. In my book bigger is not always better - this is like witchcraft, still very experimental and a trade secret.
  6. If I'm not wrong Mat told me that he has a Meridian CDP, go check with him.
  7. And yes, you also try sharing a good whiskey with the wife too.
  8. Try listening to some Chet Baker. Always do my Blue Label with Chet & sometime Lady "Day".
  9. The setup which I prefered most is of course the Cyrus, KS1030, RKV mkii, RS1. With this setup, the bass is second to none of the setup I have ever heard. The only thing which maybe lacking in the system may be the treble extention. I've just upgrade my ic to Taralabs Air 2 - wanted the Air 1 but out of stock. Wait till you hear this combination and see what you think bout it. Hypnotic highs and vocals is all I can say for now, simply took my breath away.
  10. you wait for Rameish to buy, Rameish wait for you to buy..at this rate, NOBODY's going to buy how about two of you share I'm in my crazy mood again. What if I decide to buy the R10, can anybody point me in the correct direction - source of purchase please? I was informed by my Chinese source that someone in China might letting go his Orpheus at a very reasonable price - anytaker?
  11. Firefox, where are you? If you need to go commercial with your projects and inject some Capital Venture pppleasee do talk to me. Always interested in bringing a good product to market to share with everyone. Mod edit: edited your post to make the tags work
  12. Any interest on this baby? PM me to talk and discuss price.
  13. Hi ablaze, can you pleasee PM the group pic? Thanks
  14. Is that your gfren? SoSwwing! What can I say, FOXY! Moderator edit: See your PM.
  15. You know my favorite at meet was the Sudgen + MF CD3.0 + HD600 + Equinox. Could not remember what ic or power cables but the synergy and musicality of the system simply blew me away. It could be the cables - Taralabs or the Chords or the power cables. BTW anyone know power cords used for this setup. I definitely need to buy a better pair of ic to replace my S$20 Canares - maybe the Taralabs Ones or the Dodgans. Too many systems, too little time. Regretted not trying the MF CD3.0 with my RKV or the Sudgen with the Cyrus. May be next time. Just retrofitted my MAD EAR+ headamp, all set for the next meet.
  16. I'll try, but the RKV shafu is selling is a older design with a different top and without the extra tubes and impedancer. You'll definitely need the impedancer for the lower imp cans - hard to get them as a separate component though. If I decide to sell my set, it will be competitive. Thanks
  17. I'm getting a amp maker to DIY a tube headmap for me in China and will like to check if there is any interest in the above. You've seen it at the latest meet and it is less than two months old in mint condition. Letting go for S$1650.00 self pickup in Singapore , shipping extra for overseas. PM me for fast deal, to renegotiate or any questions. Hoping to go to headphone nirvana! ") Thanks
  18. Tee, what kind of info are you actually looking for? How to stream, formats, codecs, encoding? I might be of some assistance.
  19. Hayley Westenra - Pokarekare Ana - Who painted the moon black? Cool!
  20. Same here for the Sudgen. Anyone had a listen with RKV? IMHO, the 501 sounded a little bit hard on the RKV. But I've heard it on the following Cyrus combo - Cyrus 7 amp + CD7Q + PSX-R + Taralabs One IC - simply musical with a massive soundstage and I was only testing it with a ripped MP3 128bit to wav CD!
  21. Glad to hear that rubber ring tweak worked for the Cayin. BTW how many rings did you put for each tube IMHo you should experiment different nos. of rings on each tube for different results.
  22. Mammography! that's is for the women! You know mammo i.e. t*ts I think?
  23. I'll love to have the group pic as well. Can you pleassee email me? Thanks
  24. The electronics and the battery housing might need some work to reduce the rattling. Incidentally, I found that the sound did degrade a little if you use put pressure on the cover of the housing - could be some grounding I reckon?
