I've tried both PDCPs and DAPs. Personally, I find that there is a difference but I can't put my finger on it. It's like the music from the PDCP has more life to it. But I would still stick to DAPs simply because it's more convenient.

Second the Mylar3s. They're available at Jaben, The Adelphi level 4 corner unit. Should cost round $65 I think.

Do note k81 is known for it's death grip. Not suited for the big headed. (No pun intended.)

Second luc1986 and Singapura. Give IEMs a shot they're small in size but big on music. With regards to headphones, for outdoor use avoid open cans. Not too sure if it's the PX or PMX series which are open back. Ie. they leak sound in and music out. Therefore, big no no for outdoor use.

If wearing IEMs hurt then it could be a poor fit or you just don't like it. So, either get customs or switch to full size cans?

They looked rather flimsy to me though. Structurally even less assuring than the Grados.

Instead of burning in why not just use it normally and see how it goes? That way you get to enjoy the music more.

How about considering the ck9? Doesn't have the veiled feeling of the um1, has the clarity of the er6 but more bass.

How 'bout the ck9? Abit over your budget but they sound great. I guess any IEM upgrade from stock apple earbuds would sound better for that matter. And I second the mylar3s too. Really decent for its price.

Haha..I also seldom see people wearing decent IEMs. Maybe it's because I don't walk around town much. It' s usually school then back home maybe pop by Jaben in between. I guess the Cheena never saw such cool IEMs before. Then again UEs have some of the bigger sized buds. Looks rather imtimidating for first timers. Lol. When I wear my ck9 on the train or bus no one really bothers.

Radioactive28: Etymotic doesn't have a service centre here right? And I'm in a similar situation as yours-I don't have a credit card too. So buying online is kind of impossible. Also I tired out e3c and e4c. They sounded fine but not fantastic. ck9 had a different sound signature from shure and had better clarity. I guess that was what I was really looking for. So shure isn't my cup of tea. e500 no chance to try out. Even if I did I couldn't possbily splurge on one could I? Strange you would go for er4 after e4c. They sound real different don't they?

Oh well. I'm using a pair of ck9 now. Very satisfied with it but my finger itchy. If etymotic is out of the question. And I don't fancy buying Shure. (Used the e2g before.) Then that leaves me with um1 and sf3. Both of which I have some quibbles with. Don't really like um1 sound signature or maybe it was the eartips used and the cord design is really bad. (cord length before the y-splitter is way too short.) Sf3 is the legendary frankenstien ears so nothing much to say. Even with the mod, it still looks kinda bulky. Oops, I think I'm way OT. But please give me some replies ya? Thanks!

I'm looking at the er4p too. But I wonder if I should get it online since local prices are practically twice that of online prices. Why is that so anyway?
