  6. And Billy Idol! How can I forget Billy Idol! Anthemic music like early Queen. You won't get songs like that in the 90s. Oh wait a minute...Chumbawamba has a anthemic song in the 90s. Damn.
  7. Hey man, I know this may be sacrilege but I am an 80s music man! Some may call them cheesy and manufactured but I was a child of the 80s and have many fond memories of them. And unlike the 90s the boybands of that period even wrote their own songs! Some of the groups which I liked back then and ones I recommend are, Depeche Mode - nough said OMD - complex eletronic music A-ha - you heard that right! They wrote all their own material. Imagine that! New Order - I think they are singularly responsible for the DJ scene back then. Dance sound but the lyrics are profound. Ever heard of Frente's version of Bizarre Love Triangle? Madonna - Her glory days were in the 80s! Prince - I only liked the Purple Rain album though but that album is outstanding! When Doves Cry still gives me the goosebumps. Pet Shop Boys - Many dance and techno which I really really like. I grew up with their music. Their early material were really good. The Police - Pop music which are layered and complex. Not at all like the pop music of today And many many more. Sade, Simply Red, Simple Minds, the list goes on and on. The ones I've mentioned above all wrote their own material. I even liked the cheesy ones like Duran Duran, Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle etc but most of these are manufactured rather than original like the lists I've mentioned at the top. Of course there were many many one-hit wonders like Mickey, A Flock Of Seagulls, Johnny Hates Jazz, etc I could go on and on. Please don't ask me which albums to buy. Just go to allmusicguide.com and find out. What I've given are my recommendations and bias.
  8. Look here, Link to Audio Circle A chance for us to influence a manufacturer?
  9. The current gain on the Gilmore V2 I've heard with the Senn HD600 and AKG501 is fine for me. No change for me please.

    CD PLAYER

Don't know about the Gryphon but there is a cheap(er) Goldmund derivative in the form of a DAC. The JOB DA48. Slightly less than $SGD1K and small to boot. Job Website
  13. How much cheaper can your friend get? I think you can get a new one in Singapore for between $500 to $600 right?
  14. Who quoted you $1999 nett? I might be interested.
  15. erickoh, If the maxed out Meta42 is still available, please call me at 97572485.
  16. erickoh, where you're from? Canada? How's the shipping like? Do all those Meta42s using the DC jack come with wall-warts compatible with Singapore's 230v/50hz?
  17. All Pink Floyd albums can be found on CD. Led Zeppelin too but you have to hunt a bit. A good selection would be in HMV but they are very ex. Gramaphone should have a good selection too for a bit much cheaper.
  18. I can recommend the albums but don't ask me why they're good. Your taste is not my taste. Pink Floyd I won't really classify them as Classic Rock more like "outer space" music. Hard to get into but once you get into it, it won't let go and you wonder why the other bands even bother. My favourites Meddle Dark Side Of The Moon Wish You Were Here Animals The Wall If you want a bit more accessible then try their later albums A Momentary Lapse Of Reason The Division Bell And if you are feeling really adventurous then can try (don't say I didn't warn you) The Piper At The Gates of Dawn For Led Zeppelin try I II III IV When you first hear them you will find the music a bit dated and wonder what's so special but this is THE band which pioneered many of the riffs and music styles that is later heard in many many other bands. Personally if you want accessible classic rock then try Scorpion especially their earlier albums Fly To The Rainbow In Trance Virgin Killer Blackout You can really play air guitar with those. Very accessible and you'll be humming in no time. Slow rock doesn't get better than this. But if you want the ultimate air guitar then you should try Yngwie Malmsteen Joe Satriani Sorry too many albums from them for me to remember but theirs are the ultimate air guitar.
  19. What's the difference between this and the 3.2?
